He could have been born like that, or he could have something in his background that turned him in to what he appears to be, a narcissistic sociopath. I’m curious as well.

What do you see in CW that indicates narcissism? Just curious.

Welcome @Quinquin. I think your theory sounds plausible. As you read here you'll find others with similar scenarios, much different scenarios and all kinds , really.

I feel that if these murders were truly premeditated, then the plan would have been more humane with respect to method and disposal.

Or, he put them there on purpose because he wanted them never to be found! IMO

I say this only if he has any humanity at all. I am not pro or con against CW but it is perplexing to me that he was viewed as "loving" and "gentle guy" by many who knew him. I haven't been aware of that many red-flags with regards to his pathology. But when AB's guest said that CW looked "as if he couldn't be bothered" at his trial and booking, I had to disagree. I thought he looked shell-shocked. His mouth was even hanging open slightly. That doesn't, to me, indicate guilt or innocence. Again, he looked traumatized as opposed to defiant or callous.

Yeah, I didn't think about it making him so much more outgoing that he developed the courage (or the rush for risky behavior) to engage in casual sex with strangers. I, too, think somebody needs to investigate what all patches he was wearing or supplements he was taking to look for side effects or drug interactions.

I have heard that the sudden onset of hyper-sexuality (in people older than CW, generally) can be an early symptom of dementia. I hope that his defense team looks into biological/medical causes in addition to psychological ones. Not that it would reduce his criminal culpability, but to find some answers to why this happened.

There certainly could be a biochemical imbalance in his brain.

His interview was very self centered, and incredibly manipulative. Narcissists lie because they absolutely believe they can get away with it. He killed his family because he cared more about himself than he did them. Whatever his specific reason for committing this crime, it was incredibly selfish (and evil).
These people, (narcissists) are very concerned with the image they present to the world. And his smile said it all, “I can charm you into believing me.”

Yes, he was literally preening in those interviews.

My mom was bossy and "aggressive" and my dad wasn't. She died from ovarian cancer 2 years ago, a couple of weeks past their 40th wedding anniversary. My dad is legitimately lost without her.

I wear the proverbial pants in my relationship. My husband is not a go-getter. He literally has to be told what to do. If I didn't remind him of things, he'd forget to pay bills, forget birthdays, anniversaries, appointments. Love him to death but he has to be taken care of and directed. He'll even say that he's glad I'm "bossy" and "aggressive" and "pushy" because he's anything but and it balances out the household well.

If you don't wanna be told what to do, don't marry someone who is a Type-A personality. It's really that simple.

ETA: You'll never hear a Type-A male described as "bossy", "pushy", "nagging", etc... you'll hear him described as driven, passionate, and hard-working.

bbm

You said it, Ronso, about the adjectives directed at a Type-A wife!

Your points are valid -- two Type A's have to work at it for things to run smoothly. I guess with two Type-B's, things don't run at all....:)

Also people who have taken antidepressants have committed violent acts and suicide. The info even comes with them. Thousands of cases of this happening. It makes me wonder if he was on these or if it was these patches. It seems after he did this, he was in Lalaland.

I'm wondering what CW's background is. I know he has a father, but what about his mother? Does he have siblings? Was he brought up in a stable environment? How did he get to this point? Something psychological?

There's videos of CW's mother on SW's Facebook. It's very clear she loved her grand babies very much.

Not much has been said anywhere about his background though, just tiny little snippets here and there that don't offer much information at all

Mmmmm, I have to agree. It's a small town. Picking a jury would take many weeks due to prior knowledge of the crime, MSM, SM, people who knew either of them , or who knew the girls well or even those who lived in the neighborhood. Finding around 16 impartial jurors in that town would take a long time, and it may not be possible.
A change of venue request from either side would not be surprising.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Town of Frederick is a Statutory Town in Weld County, Colorado, United States. The population was 8,679 at the 2010 census. Wikipedia
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Weld County would be the jury pool. That's 285,000 people in 2015. But I do agree, the two families probably touched many of those people and they may move the trial to another County.

We know he had at least one extra-marital affair, and possibly more - he feels "entitled". We know he lies because he was tripping all over his story in his various interviews, and also, in order to carry on an affair, he was also lying to SW. IMO, it would require supreme arrogance to be able to give three media interviews acting like he is a victim when he knew exactly what happened, and he also knew exactly where they were. That is for starts, JMO.

Your last paragraph reminded me of when Van der Sloot went on Greta, and she did believe everything he said, IIRC.

Please stop blaming VITAMINS for a man murdering his family. These are the ingredients for Chris's daily VITAMIN regiment. At least research them if you want to blame them. As far as steroids, I don't know if he was or not.

I think we've been over this before on the forum and there wasn't really anything concerning in the patches/vitamins that could be linked to rages and violence.

Exactly. To go further, I don’t care if he was using steroids (known to induce rage in some people). He alone made the decision to kill his family. He brutally murdered his wife and children. He dumped their bodies like trash. He went about his day, and engaged in a coverup in which he told lie after lie. Then he tried to blame the victim. Vitamins, supplements, anti-depressants, steroids or anything else, don’t make him any less responsible for his actions.

I said the same the other day, we know absolutely nothing apart from old school friends and an ex employee
Other than a shop class instructor from CW high school, I don't recall any family or hometown classmates or friends speaking about CW. All Denver area friends that spoke only knew him as part of a couple. I believe CW has both parents, and at least one sister. MOO

Regardless of what story one believes, what we do know for sure is that CW had just buried his wife in a shallow grave and dumped his baby girls in vats of oil when he made those media interviews. He shows no signs of distress - currently or evidence of distress in the preceding hours, he is able to lie with ease, and he smiles. He shows ability to completely detach, and an extreme lack of empathy for other human beings.

Compare that to video of SW's father to see what genuine grief looks like in a man who feels real emotions and cares for others.

I wanted to repost this Daily Beast article. It is very thorough, and includes quite a bit of information about the Watts that we did not have before.

I wanted to comment on this quote:

"On June 15, Shanann wrote, 'Chris, just said he’s been more talkative since he started #Burn! Talking to random strangers. #Hesaintrovert.'”

I have no idea what's in the patches that Chris wore, but I do know that stimulants will make you more talkative and less inhibited, so that you might not be afraid to speak with random strangers.

‘Everyone Liked Him’: Did Colorado Dad Chris Watts Lead a Double Life?

Yup, I am thinking Thrive and a double espresso could be dangerous.
