I agree with you about "salacious rumors", etc.

At the time of Watergate both the Washington Post and the NY Times demanded reporters have three sources/confirmations. In other words; you got one person to say it is so and then two other sources to confirm. Sources were also not paid! That is ludicrous, it brings into question the source's motives. That is also what they taught when I studied journalism. I'm sure it's changed a great deal. I haven't done that kind of writing in a long time. Of course a lot of things have changed in journalism, few for the good. Also, at the beginning Deep Throat refused to be a source and would only confirm!
I think nowadays there is more variation in standards from one newsroom to another. Some are more stringent about vetting sources and confirming stories than others. And yes paying sources is madness...

CW was the one who no longer loved his spouse and wanted to be free, so why would he have snapped if she was giving him what he wanted (i.e. leaving)?

Can't find the link now, but I seem to recall an early article with friend stating CW would give his life for his girls. If he killed SW in a rage, then why systematically kill the girls? Why sacrifice them to save his own skin when he was likely going to be caught anyway?

That's why I think he planned to killed all of them for his own selfish reasons, like not wanting to pay child support or having any further parental responsibilities.

I would agree with premeditation and apparently what the police have has given them enough to charge with "murder with deliberation" . (All IMO)

You are assuming that every potential juror is as vested in this case as we are. They’re not. My husband, for one, isn’t very interested, he doesn’t read anything about it, and he half listens when I try to talk about it. I live 5 States away, so I won’t be called in to be a juror. If you live in the vicinity and would like to be a juror, maybe you should stop reading.
No need to be snarky. I'm not interested in discussing salacious gossip as fact HERE.

OMG!. . . .I'm sitting in a Chinese restaurant in Baytown, Texas eating Chinese food, drinking Chinese beer, and reading Websleuths posts. I finally look up and in the next booth is a man who looks like CWs twin, even wearing a t-shirt (can't see printing on shirt. Scary! I've only had 1 beer, I swear! I'd snap a photo, but he'd see.

When the story first broke pre even CW doing the news interview, I asked my husband to look at the this video and I told him nothing. After he watched it I asked do think dad is happy about the pregnancy. His response was 'No not even a little, think he's really actually upset'. Then husband asked who are they, he thought someone I knew. I explained briefly, he already thinks I'm crazy for following these things lol.

That video struck me as sad and super obvious that he was not happy about it. I have to wonder what was said off-camera. I almost wonder if that sealed the deal on what he had been debating about their fates:( IMO

What about discussing suppositions and hypothesis based on a combination of facts, opinion, and gossip reported by MSM?

Agreed. Thanks.

Okay! The CW doppelganger just left. Whew! I think I'm safe. LOL!

I wish I had a photo, looked just like him; face, thick neck, glasses, beard!

Yes, the 6 week trip could’ve been a separation, absolutely. I just don’t think we should assume it was. NU said SW told her she wanted to keep her family together. We know she was a fighter. We have to look at both possibilities.

It was technically 4 weeks. CW spent the first and last week in NC, with the family.

Exactly. I don’t think anyone is taking everything reported by the media, as fact.

We take all of the sources available to us, and try to paint a picture with it, hopefully an accurate one. If you don’t believe a source, that’s absolutely fine, as it’s good to be skeptical about things.

Some sources are known as being more accurate than others, as some have a higher standard of proof before they will report something. We are going to hear things that in the future, will be discovered to be incorrect. “Grain of salt.”

We’ve seen several expert analyses of CW’s initial news interviews. Has anyone seen a similar analysis of some of the FB videos? I’m particularly interested in what they might pick up in the “Oops, We Did it Again!” clip.

It’s currently my understanding that the pregnancy was (at least allegedly) the idea of CW, and that SW “agreed to” it.

Earlier, someone commented about CW’s seemingly recent hypersexuality. If there were multiple AP’s in a fairly short timeframe, could CW’s apparent desire for a third child perhaps have been a front to disguise his desire for more sex? Could “pretending” to want a third child have been a way to convince SW to “willingly participate” on a more regular & frequent basis?

Purely speculation, but supposing he was “taking steroids” to help develop his physique (apologies in advance if we’ve ruled this out), could this potentially have fueled any hyper-sexual tendencies?

Continuing on that premise (which again is speculative), if given a scenario in which CW was taking steroids, mightn’t he also have assumed his fertility would be negatively impacted?

Since it was already difficult for SW to conceive as a result of her lupus diagnosis, perhaps he assumed that the combination of him taking steroids (which I understand to reduce sperm production) + her lupus would allow him to “safely” proceed in this manner without actually having to “risk” another pregnancy.

When I see the “Oops, We Did it Again!” video, I get the sense he is perhaps more dumbfounded than pleased. He is slow to respond, and not genuinely jubilant. Although he says, “That’s awesome,” his words ring hollow to me. It seems like his mind is racing.

The last sentence, where he expresses something to the effect of “I guess that just shows if you want it, it happens” also strikes me as a strange sentiment, and his delivery is choppy. Almost like he’s stifling what he might really like to say.

Aside from the fact that the sentence itself is odd (to me, anyway), why is he saying “you” instead of “we”?

It isn’t: “WE’re expecting, hooray!!!”

It’s more like:

“I guess when YOU want it, it happens.” (Like a mistake or an accident “happens”?)

When I first heard it — reading between the lines — it struck me as if he was lamenting the belief that the universe always seems to line up in SW’s favor, rather than his.

Then, he threw in a big hug and smooch at the end for good measure. I figure maybe this was like the hug someone witnessed between them, which was in the driveway, in the midst of a fight. In other words, a big act for the audience’s benefit.

FWIW, I have no idea if this line of thinking has merit. It’s basically just a “what if” idea that occurred to me as I was trying to piece the puzzle together in my brain.
When I watched the video his reaction was as if he felt "ambushed" and would have preferred her to tell him about the pregnancy privately and not for a video on SM. It appears he was scrambling to mask his anger with her and in his mind she was using this announcement to get "likes" on SM.

Bringing forward some of the latest msm for reference as I catch up / sorry for any reposts (I do realize you guys have likely been discussing all this already. Sometimes snippets are not posted, just the links, so posting just in case anything has been missed so far):

Chris Watts Didn't Get Involved in Funeral of Wife, 2 Daughters Because He 'Knew Better': Source

“A source who has spoken with Watts in jail tells PEOPLE that the 33-year-old suspect was “aware” of the funeral proceedings, but had no input in it. “He knew better than to suggest anything,” the source says.”

'Still a Long Way to Go' in Watts Family Murders, Says Source: Dad Chris 'Had a Lot of Secrets'

““Every day, we learn more and more about him,” the source says in this week’s issue.”

Snip

“While Chris has maintained a publicly stoic demeanor, a second source who recently spoke with him told PEOPLE that Chris has realized the gravity of the situation.
“It’s all beginning to sink in,” the source contended. “He’s in the mourning process.”“

Chris Watts Reportedly Under Suicide Watch in Jail

“Under the watch, Watts is only allowed out of his cell for one hour per day. He is let into a room where he is the sole occupant.

The watch also requires Watts not be given access to television or any reading material, according to HLN.“

Snip

“In most situations similar to the Watts’ murders, Mowder said, the man would kill himself as well. Since Watts didn’t, she believes he had plans to start over. A piece of evidence that supports her theory is how Watts went on camera after his family initially disappeared and pleaded for them to return.

“This whole facade he put on right after they started looking for them—that was very odd, and it makes me wonder if he wasn’t trying to find an out to be with the girlfriend,” said Mowder. “‘Somebody else did it. I’m the poor grieving father.'”“

——-

“His story has not yet been independently corroborated by news outlets, including PEOPLE, but his account of an alleged relationship with Chris does contain details about Chris’ life that are not readily available online and in public documents. Identifying information about Chris’ truck and his home matches PEOPLE’s reporting.“

Chris Watts' Alleged Ex-Lover Speaks — but He's Not the Co-Worker Police Say Chris Was Seeing

———

“Thousands of strangers are now playing detective, posting theories and speculation on what happened after watching and analyzing the very public life Shanann left behind on Facebook.“

Snip

“People from around the world are now combing through Shanann's Facebook videos for answers or any clue to help them understand how a family who seemed so happy could end this tragically.“

Chris Watts murder case becomes obsession on Facebook

——-

“While under suicide watch, he is not allowed the same privileges as other people at the jail, including no access to weights, reading material and television, People magazine reported. He is allowed to leave his cell for one hour a day – to shower and make phone calls to his family or to counsel.“

If the defense hires the right expert, I'm sure they can get CW diagnosed with just about anything you like.

BTW, have we seen any photos of his closet? Maybe that would help.

ROFL! :D

Help!
I’m sorry this is off-topic but I have a question about finding “today’s arrests” . It’s a local murder case ( not on Websleuths) and a “person of interest” has been arrested on unrelated charges. I don’t know the person’s name, only that they were arrested yesterday or today.

Can anyone help please?

Someone posted on here (and I'm sorry, I looked for it but couldn't find the post!!) that CW may have taken SW's acrylic nails and scratched the girls' necks with them to leave DNA, which is why his attorney's asked to have their necks checked for DNA evidence. Its an interesting observation. CW has so far shown poor planning and a cover story filled with holes. I wonder if he thought the "clincher" would be a sloppy attempt at placing SW's dna on the necks so he could prove that he saw her strangling the girls and then reacted in rage? Whenever this guy moves his lips I think he's lying.

Yeah. When you murder your entire family, its probably a bad idea to involve yourself in the funeral planning. What a noble guy!
Yep! He has the sensitivity and consideration of a blunt axe!

You can use the search feature perhaps. I’m obviously not sure what case you’re referring to, but a person was arrested today in the quadruple murder of a mother and her three children, in Massachusetts. That case is on Websleuths though.
