I don't know. But he did talk about the back yard when he was I terviewed and how maybe someone took them out that way or they went out that way and how a road butts up to the back of the house.

Problem is there was no way out except the garage because everything was locked from the inside. He forgot that part.

Colorado doesn’t require an egress door in family room or kitchen- somewhere on the back of the house for fire escape purposes???

We're not giving any ideas to murderers, I'm not worried about that.

A father with a missing wife and children would want to use the media to plead for their safe return. If he was too distraught to talk at that point, it would stand out as strange. Why distraught? It could be that his wife simply went a friend's house and in anger didn't tell her husband. No reason to be so distraught at that point that you couldn't publicly ask for assistance in finding loved ones. The public would expect a display of being concerned and also being hopeful and forgiving and welcoming and confused and scared....hard to pull all of those emotions if at the same time you're covering the feeling of guilt. Almost impossible, actually, as we've seen in this case and others.

I think that's what most people would think. That an innocent and desperate father and husband would want to utilize the media. So that of course may be why he did the interviews.

But the reality is not like that. Many perfectly innocent family members of missing persons say nothing. Nothing at all. They may get slammed for it but I think it's quite common not to speak on camera.

Remember, none of SW's family spoke to the media before they were found. Except him. They were freaking. Talking to LE. To each other. To friends and family to CW.

But I am paranoid about giving future murderers ideas!!!

Currently on SW Facebook page it starts at June 28th, 2018.
Did you see the June 30th post you reference above prior to her account being put into legacy mode?
Also, whoever modified the SW Facebook page and removed all the posts made after June 28th, 2018 up until to date, I wonder why the photo of the covered doll is still in SW photos album dated Aug 9, 2018 under SW photos but the actual post has been removed. It must be an oversight on that person's part and the person who deleted the posts after June 28, 2018 didn't realize they needed to delete the photo as well.

Yes, and to clarify, the way they are doing it, it's not actually "deleted" but "hidden" from the user. I'm a programmer. I don't think any deleted posts will be of any use, but just as an fyi, that is not how you delete on FB....there is only one way to do so with posts.

I was more than a little surprised to read this.

Outwardly, it appeared the family was recently enjoying a prosperous period that included taking vacation trips around the world, often paid for by her employer.

"We have qualified for so many amazing trips in two years that we never otherwise would have been able to visit," Shanann wrote recently on social media. She mentioned trips to New Orleans, Toronto, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, Las Vegas and San Diego. "All inclusive, no work, all fun vacations ..."

Frederick man had climbed from deep financial troubles to apparent prosperity

If SW and the girls were kidnapped all of their things would have been left behind...

Are we certain there is no gate in the back yard??

Just my opinions and musings...

Quite handy somebody kidnapping them right after they have an 'emotional' conversation about separation.
But that was his only out IMO.
Can't say she left on her own... unless she walked and locked the door with the dead-bolt. Not possible.

I agree. However he's caught between a rock and a hard place, damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. He's the only one who can attempt to explain to a jury what happened, especially as he's blaming SW. Unless there's a 'rogue' juror, I can't see how any jury would find him innocent after placing his babies in those tanks. If anything, a normal human being would want a beautiful funeral. Instead, he said he "dumped the girls inside". Dumped!!! Like some garbage. No words.

What's crazy is the the defense put forth the ridiculous story that her father killed Caylee, in the casey anthony case and it may have flied a bit with the jury. And she never had to say a word.

All the defense here has to do is make the ridiculous claim in their opening statement and then sit back when the state introduces his videotaped "confession." (And I'm super certain they will introduce it and it will be entered into evidence).

His "explanation" will be right on video.

Well, he likely won't get much more than that. The guy in Boulder who dismembered his wife and scattered her over several states got life, no parole, and that was another horrific crime. Another guy who strangled his wife is facing possible life without parole, they recently upgraded the charge from 2nd to 1st. DAs in this are pretty much never seek death, or maybe I missed something.

Someone posted the floor plan for the house previously. Anyone know where that was?

I think everything was locked. Windows. Doors with chains. All except the garage.

My garage has a side door to the side yard which leads to the backyard though. Not sure about their home.

You may believe that but it is too much of a stretch for me to. Does the grade of dirty black oil matter? And because you would hate to be buried does not matter, those little girls were not given the choice.
For the life of me, I cannot imagine it being anyone’s personal preference to be disposed of in this manner, regardless of what grade of oil was in the tanks. In fact, it is quite alarming to me that there are people who do not consider the actions of a father who disposes of his 3 and 4-year-old daughters in tanks of crude oil as anything short of atrocious, reprehensible and nauseating.

Yes. There are many, many, examples of this. The methods vary, but this exact type of thing has happened countless times. John List used a gun. Bradford Bishop used a hammer. Robert Fisher slashed his family’s throats with a knife. Chris Coleman strangled his wife and child.

And Henri van Breda used an axe to murder his mother, father, brother, and nearly his sister, but miraculously against all odds, she survived. He knew she was still alive and waited 3 hours for her to die before ringing emergency services. The police said he's a psychopath.

Can't say she left on her own... unless she walked and locked the door with the dead-bolt. Not possible.

But he wasn’t planning on telling anyone about an “emotional conversation” because he did not plan on NUA showing up/calling the police, them showing up, and an investigation starting that day. He probably didn’t realize how close she and SW were.
He was gonna come home from work and they were GONE! Poof! She left him because he wanted a separation! She took the girls!
Poor C.W.

Without NUA I believe this is a totally different case.

Gonna look for floor plan.

It's really about social norms and norms of human behavior. Does his disposal of their bodies mesh with innocence? Or love? Or does it show a defect in human character? And a lack of feelings for them?

Of course we can always find rare exceptions to the "rules" of human behavior but the exceptions prove the rule.

People act on deep instinct when it comes to death, the death of their loved ones andthe deaths of their children.

People are given to strong sentiment and irrational desires to protect or keep safe or warm or comfortable, their dead children.

Even murderous parents often dispose of their bodies in "womb-like" watery graves, typically within a mile or so of home. (Although some may claim the oil vats are womb-like).

So I don't think the color of the oil or his familiarity with it temper the offensiveness of the disposal location. Floating separately. Alone. Decomposing in oil vats that are filled with oil that is actually drained and used.

He actually showed more care with his wife's burial (and I'm sure that had to do with expediency) than he did with his daughters' disposal, IMO.

For me, though, Abby Blagg and Zahra Baker's disposals were more shocking. Garbage dump for the first and dismemberment for the second.

But it seems clear he had no sentiment left for his daughters that was more important than saving his own skin.

She just walked away? What was he going to be able to do with her keys/shoes/purse/car/etc? LE was going to be watching his every move unless he actually thinks NOBODY is going to be concerned not hearing from SW all day when she has a doctor's appointment/etc that she already had plans to attend. Even a dummy would not believe that. She had people already concerned about her and her well being.
Is/was he planning to just work all day and come home and 'fix' things? Like how?

I have a hunch that SW's family knew what happened. Not the full scenario, of course, but they likely suspected CW either knew what happened or was responsible. No need for them to go to the public, but to rather trust LE at that point.

But, of course, not all families meet with the press.

If any future murders want ideas, I'll give them one: don't murder.

Yes. I think her brother posted that it was clear from the get go.

@Seattle1 and @NanZDrew - do you know what grade/type of crude oil was in the tanks at CERVI?
Impossible to know exactly what is in that specific tank but crude produced in Weld County is sweet (less than .5% sulfur), fewer impurities. Let me be perfectly clear, this does not change the horrific desecration and disposal of these babies.
