Are you talking about Chris? Shanann was to blame. She made him do it --- as a narcissist, that's how it works.

and he had plans to go on with his new lover(s).

I have no idea where. Wasn't there woods behind their house? I'm thinking closer to home would be less risky than driving 40 minutes with 3 dead bodies in the back seat. That's why I believe he planned to put them in the tanks all along. In that 40 minute drive, there had to be somewhere he could have dumped them. JMO
If he had card access to gates to get in then would he have to get those before ?

I am wondering if he was doing some drugs. Someone earlier mentioned steroids and noted the thickened brow and jawline jutting out. I know that when I look at earlier pictures of he and Shanann and compare to the current pictures, there is a dramatic difference in his facial appearance. I'm wondering if he wasn't doing some stimulants (real stuff) to help lose weight. In the picture below, his face is gaunt, and he makes me think of some of the pictures you see of Satan with that pointy chin. He is just ugly. ugly here.

meth also causes the libido to go haywire!
So sudden and drastic weight loss, higher than normal sex drive.

I am just surprised that Shanann didn't commit some grievous bodily harm on him. If I had found out my husband was having a long term affair, male or female, while at the same time making the decision to get me pregnant, THEN deciding he
wanted to leave me with all 3 kids so he could have the life he desired with the lover, I would have been incandescent with rage at the nerve of him!
For me, I believe the rage would come later, first I would be hurt, devastated, worried, then I would become angry. But first I would have to process it all.

For the life of me, I cannot imagine it being anyone’s personal preference to be disposed of in this manner, regardless of what grade of oil was in the tanks. In fact, it is quite alarming to me that there are people who do not consider the actions of a father who disposes of his 3 and 4-year-old daughters in tanks of crude oil as anything short of atrocious, reprehensible and nauseating.

No loving parent would dump a child they loved in crude oil.
just no way possible.

Living in a part of the world where meth addiction is rampant, I can spot a meth addict a mile away. I don't think CW is on meth. It leaves a very distinctive look. I do think the speculation he was on steroids is likely on point, though.

I tend to agree

Do you think he might be acquitted of SW's murder even though he confessed? The girls? or both?
It seems like every friend, acquaintance, colleague (his and hers) and family member is team SW, and many of them are on the witness list. I haven’t seen anyone come forward to defend CW. They’re the people who know. As long as the DA doesn’t screw it up, CW is going down.

That's the witnesses for the state though not the defense.

Exactly. If SW wasn't worried than Nicole wouldn't be that worried.

So obviously SW was that worried and confided that worry in a friend to take action just in case. Jmo

So SW was obviously worried. Jmo

And this shows premeditation on CW part since her friend immediately discussed that worry with LE on day 1.

Maybe SW wasn't as worried but her friend sensed trouble and noticed lots of red flags!

I would like to think that too. I guess I am a little jaded. I know there will be lots of evidence that the jury will never hear. I can already tell, the defense is gearing up to drag SW through the mud. I haven't heard anyone defend him, but I also have not heard anyone talk bad about him either. On this board alone SW has been talked about pretty harshly.

I followed a murder case on Websleuths a couple of years ago in which a husband murdered his wife. There were three gut-wrenching trials, resulting in two mistrials and finally, a conviction.

I suspect if there is a mistrial in this case, the prosecution will not give up, either.

I remember Scott Peterson's trial had to be in a town close to Modesto but not in Modesto because of the way the public in Modesto felt about him.

In CW's situation, I can't imagine the public giving up, either. This case must have made people angry to extreme.
New to WS! Trying to make sense of this tragedy. I have lots of thoughts, but wanted to touch on some things I haven't seen running through the thread merely for speculation purposes.

IMO, this was not planned. There were too many loose ends. The burial site seemed to be a hastily, poorly chosen site if one did not want to get caught.

Both SW and CW seemed to be loving parents. Something went terribly wrong.

I am speculating on CW's claims that SW strangled the children. SW had lupus. Pregnancy can exacerbate lupus symptoms. Lupus flare ups can cause psychosis in some people. Caffeine overdose can cause psychosis. The patches worn by SW and CW contain an undisclosed amount of caffeine. One could overdose if ingesting caffeine in pills or drinks, especially while wearing a transdermal patch delivering the substance. The patches contain Garcinia cambogia: there have been case reports of psychotic symptoms with its use. IF SW was taking any medications, they could interact with many substances. Each body responds differently to different substances.
Sleep deprivation and/or stress can also cause psychosis.

Mania Induced by Garcinia cambogia: A Case Series

SW was pregnant, had Lupus and was traveling a lot recently. We know of relationship and financial problems that may have caused her much stress. There is likely much more we do not know about her stress levels. We know she claimed to be able to run on small amounts of sleep and that she was awake into wee hours of the morning when she returned from her latest trip- a trip which was likely packed full of all kinds of activities. Her friend reported SW wasn't feeling well on the trip. A tired, stressed out, sleep deprived pregnant mom who is dealing with Lupus and is expected to appear "energized" all the time ultizes substances to help achieve and maintain this energy. Could she have "snapped" with all of these factors coming into play?

I knew a woman who drowned her 3 kids during a psychotic break. You would have never known she was capable of this. She was not herself and suddenly lost touch with all reality, committing this heinous act.

Again, I am purely speculating to see if CW's claims to would be in the realm of possibility.

CW's behavior was certainly disturbing. Buried the bodies in a familiar, close place directly linked to him. He left evidence all over. Went to work like normal. Flat affect during interviews ... he seemed so far removed from reality. Could he have dissociated from these events du to trauma? This could be true whether he killed his entire family or whether his claim was true. It would help explain his disturbing behavior.

"Derealization comprises a state in which the world and the environment “feel” unreal to the individual residing in this state. Both depersonalization and derealization are aspects of dissociation represented by subjective states that usually result from trauma. "

Dissociative Rage
"Moscowitz describes “dissociative rage” in which an individual usually characterized as mild, quiet and overcontrolled, and acts impulsively with high levels of violence."

Derealization and maybe certain detachment could have happened when he was killing his family. I guess it would be in a trance-like way - I have read about people reporting feeling "nothing" when they were harming others/self.

However, I do not think it was Garcinia cambodia-induced mania. Because from a person being that manic from G.C. so that he'd end up strangling his family, one would expect not sleeping for the next night, and on the next day, being highly agitated, walking barefoot or shirtless, mumbling something about the family sending rays into his head or himself being a prophet. The mania would spill over into the next day, real mania is very noticeable. That would be very Helter Skelter.

And there is another view to look at all of it. Supposedly, poor guy, he got so agitated from Garcinia Cambodia and caffeine that jumped into murderous rage, killed his two kids and a pregnant wife, and the next day, was OK. That means extreme response to some medications/naturopathic drugs that don't turn other people murderous? Something in his genes...

That means that he needs to get a restraining order to keep him 3 miles away from the Starbucks and GNCs; and what if he drinks that coffee again or unbeknowst to himself, uses something over-the-counter, some substance with Sudafed in it? Scary to think...

Should not people who off their families due to caffeine+lack of sleep+a tad of Garcinia Cambodia be isolated from the general population anyhow because of the danger they present? ;)

Maybe. If she hadn't just come home from a trip, in the middle of the night when the girls should have been asleep and with CW in the other room, and she wasn't feeling well, apparently. Then his actions speak volumes. He supposedly sees her strangling them and runs in and kills her, never tries to revive either girl or call 911. Then dumps them in oil to "protect" SW but spills everything the minute he gets questioned. Not much protection there, especially since he confessed to killing her.

I agree, I do not think his story of her strangling her is possible...He would have tried to revive them and call 911. Come one folks LOL his story reeks of BS.

Yes, she went to their rooms, strangled two children all in the time when he left the room for a moment. It is patently ridiculous.

Agree that he comes off as submissive & meek & definitely seems controlled by/dominated by SW IMO.
No one knows what goes on behind closed doors. My family has always thought my husband was so quite and laid back. Behind closed doors, he has quite the temper. Every time a family member says, he is so laid back, our kids say, well you don't live with him. None of us are the least bit scared of him, but he is in no way easy going.
