I am not sure what the last pages of posts of Shanann's vids are suppose to prove. That she deserved what happened to her and the children?
Yes, she was bossy. Many men boss and they are regarded as strong.
Of course not, no one would think that SW and her children would deserve that but the videos are very informative as to the dynamics of their relationship.

Eh, it was probably a live video, I assume.. so you can't really edit out parts. It just gets posted. I would've been bothered if she continued to make Bella take the whipped cream to the face, but when Bella cries after it happens, her mom says she doesn't have to do it again.

I've made my kids do lots of things they were apprehensive about doing. Sometimes they ended up loving it because it was fun to them, and other times they didn't.

She didn't tell her kid to hush and get over it. She comforted her.

Am I missing something? I just don't see any sort of abusive dynamic going on here?

My husband volunteers for this sort of thing. You'd see video of him being the "brunt of the joke" or "taking a pie to the face" because I don't like being in front of the camera. He rather enjoys it.
I don't think it's abusive nor motive for murder. I just think it's really rude, and I think CW and grandma were equally culpable. I am viewing this as someone who is very introverted and LOATHES being forced to perform too, which undoubtedly colors my perception.

I see what you're saying but check out the video I've just put on the thread.

As I see what you are saying here.... but.. maybe a life lesson for Bella. "You had fun getting Daddy messy.. now your turn". I don't know.. trying to dissect these dynamics is very tedious. I just don't see anything out of the ordinary here. Certainly nothing that would suggest this horrible tragedy would happen.

  • #245
But who was forcing him to do that? He seems equally involved.
It seems from the videos, she orders him to do a lot of things and he obeys. IMO

So that's three live videos where SW is humiliating her husband and children in front of a live audience. Interesting family dynamics. I wonder if he was already being "punished" for something?

Same. I feel like CW signed up to be the one to take the "pie to the face". My husband loves playing the "fun parent". And if you ask my kids, I'm the strict one of us two. This isn't an unusual dynamic.

And there's plenty more in nearly all of the videos.

I don't see anything specifically horrible in the videos. After all, the kids were not abused, and CW could have refused to participate in the game.

The only thing that comes to my mind is that for SW, everything was about appearances. And it is not because she needed to promote her Thrive - rather, she became such a good seller because she could put on a good show.

I think that initially, CW was besotted with her. She was the talkative one, the emotional one, the social one. But maybe at a certain moment, he got tired of all this noisy show? Especially since he (as I suspect) had some problem with expressive speech. So he started drifting away, into the relationships where he was more in control, and also, maybe, ughm... less public? (Obviously less public since he kept them a secret).

Now, all that I wrote is in no way victim-blaming. Simply, these two people were very different and probably not a good match. A divorce is always an option, anything but this horror...and I hope the judges will be just, because he killed three people and an unborn child. SW does not come across as mean, not at all, and she probably was naive if she trusted CW, she was merely slightly too extraverted with her social media.

I understand Ronso what you are saying but it seemed one sided in the video and CW was very passive in the video, oddly so. JMO
My whole family is competitive when it comes to playing games. We play to win, and we certainly banter back and forth. But, the banter is .... well, more fun than what I saw on the video.

And, I had to say, that was the most decisive win I've ever seen in a game of checkers. Maybe his head was somewhere else than on the game.

Thanks for posting these videos, WSers.

Sorry if it was stated somewhere else.. but which Grandma was this? SW's or CW's mom?

Whoa, dramatics much? lol He's smiling and going right along with it and having a good time. I see no evidence of humiliation.

I need to sit on my hands. This thread is getting ridiculous now.

It wasn't clear. I assumed it was likely her mom but I don't think it was ever stated.

It looked like SW mom in the video.

I don’t think SW, baby or the girls deserved what happened to them... NO WAY did they deserve that. The videos show the dynamics and behaviors. I personally want to look at the entire picture. Knowing the outcome has made it a real challenge for me to see things for how they are without wanting to stand up for SW and slam CW every chance I get, but I’m trying super hard to keep my eyes open.

Thank you for posting this!

Because SW had included her furniture in the sale of the NC house, and based on the high-end decor we see in this house, I would venture a guess that a hefty amount the Watts's credit card debt went to furnishing their CO home in a similar high-end style. JMO
Maybe some of the furniture, but not all of it. I saw in google images of said N.C. House, that the mirror in the front room of CO House was also in the N.C. house. Unless she bought the same mirror again.

That's hard to watch. Squirting your kids is one thing, squirting them in the face and eyes seems to cross a line. All the while you are saying "this is why we have kids...."

I've got a dark sense of humor, and I tease, but this teasing seems cruel rather than dark.

ITA it's hard to watch.

First, thank you for the video. I'm having some kind of sound issue and haven't been able to view it just yet, but I will.

We've had a lot of discussion about whether Shanann or the children were killed first. I'm wondering if you could explain why you think CW planned it and killed the girls first. ? Just curious.

I believe he planned the murders for a host of reasons. The fact that the charges against him read that the children were killed on or about Jjne 12-13th and SW was killed on June 13. The last post she made on FB was that creepy photo of the three foot doll covered with the Twister mat like a shroud. I thought my daughter’s theory was really on point regarding that. She suggested that CW made wrapping the doll up into a “game” then wrapped them up as a fun game then when he was ready to kill them he said let’s play the new twister game and wrapped them up this time suffocating them. This way he wouldn’t have to see their panicked faces. Then he lay in wait for SW. I think the financial woes and continuing to live beyond their means with another baby on the way and perhaps how so much of what they did as a family was recorded or filmed for SM. I think he wanted out and they weren’t in a financial position for a divorce. JMO Please forgive any errors. My eyes are giving out.

Ronson, we are just discussing the dynamics of the family. SW and the girls are beyond help, but maybe for ourselves, to learn something? For our kids?

Hi longtime lurker, new member here!

What I see in the videos is very telling about Chris Watts. He does whatever she tells him to do and is the one constantly tending to the kids while she makes videos for people online. I think he was resentful of getting put in this position so often for the sake of her fans. I get the sense that he is very introverted and most likely did not want to be in the video about losing the chess game or pie in the face, but what can you do in a live video? You don’t protest, you just do it quietly... I am the same way (and no I’m not sympathizing with him, he clearly is sick and a horrible person), however I get closed off and very submissive around loud and extroverted people. They make me uncomfortable. Truth be told my own kids sometimes get me to snap into the zombie-quiet-dutiful mode just because I’m going through the motions and want to be done with whatever we are doing. That’s what I see in Chris ... someone who is going through the motions, being dutiful, but is seething on the inside. Even his “nice nice nice nice, give me a high five” doesn’t seem natural in the pie video. I do the same thing when I’m uncomfortable, I’ll repeat the same phrase over and over again and it comes off awkward. And in Shannann I see some passive aggressive anger/resentment at Chris. Maybe they were just in a funk and she got annoyed easily with him. My husband and I went through a funk where we went to marriage counseling and I remember he annoyed me a lot then.

Nevertheless, none of these things makes you kill. If he was so unhappy which is what I see, then he should have asked for a divorce. I also don’t believe for one second that HE was the one who wanted a 3rd kid. I think that was just the narrative she gave online & im guessing it pissed him off quietly like everything else she said to him/about him online.
