Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I’m genuinely curious about what you mean by that. Do you mean they’d have been more mellow? Less materialistic? I’d have described the Chris seen in videos as “easygoing”... But apparently he wasn’t...

IMHO the comments about SW deliberately targeting Bella because she looks like CW, the comments speculating on how dominating and cruel she seems to be to him and the children, some of it reads that way to me because it's such a huge reach.

They clearly had marital issues and it ended tragically. So there was a lot more going on than any of us will see in a Thrive promo video, a checkers game, or even friends or family saying they swear there's no DV. You can't know. This I know firsthand from experience. You CANNOT know what goes on between 2 people when the doors are closed and the cameras are off.

I feel like some have been waiting for an "a-ha" (or almost gleeful "TA DA", if you will) moment that would somehow explain either why she's the villain in this as CW says, or why she was so awful he finally filled with rage and snapped. The videos seem to have provided that in spades and it escalated very quickly which shocked me because I watched them and didn't see it. That's all.

Again, JMO and worth as much.

There are a lot of parents who won't let their kids do certain things (walk to school alone, ride their bike a certain distance, etc). They are afraid that the child will get attacked or hurt. I, on the other hand, generally say "no" to something not because I am afraid for my child but because I am afraid of the judgment. I'm not afraid that my kid will get kidnapped walking down to our little country store-I am afraid that another parent will see him, freak out, consider me a neglectful parent, and call CPS. It is also why I refrain from posting family videos on SM. I stick to the rescue kittens and even then I worry that someone will read into my tone, my husband's expression, etc.

If there was something "wrong" with CW mentally, or if he was just an evil guy who wanted a new life, then SW could have been the perfect wife and mother and he still probably would have found a reason to do this because he didn't really need a reason in the end.

I like analyzing criminals. As a true crime writer, I've worked with many criminologists and forensic specialists, and profilers over the years and talking about what makes people tick is probably what we talk about the most. This IS starting to feel uncomfortable, however.

I understand everyone will interpret the videos in different ways, which is why I posted them. I wanted everyone's take on them. Not to victim shame, just to show the dynamics between SW and CW. What I did pick up on was quite a few posters felt that up until the videos were shown they couldn't comment with their true observations. Which IMO is very sad. Please can we have different opinions without everyone jumping on posters who have a different perspective. It's hard to have an opposing opinion when every time you post, you are questioned by not just one person but many. It's disrespectful and sad to witness.

Looking at those videos and commenting is not victim blaming. Rather it shows their dynamics.

I cringe when she makes derogatory comments about him to the who,e world, such as the negative “genius” comment.

If my husband did that to me over and over again, I would be very concerned. Not respectful or loving,

After seeing the construction digger w/ SW and Bella on the deck, it looks like
the Watts had patio option . I have revised the 1st floor floorplan (rev1) and included the 2nd floor floorplan again.

I chose not to watch their videos because CW is in them pretending to be a family man while masking his real self.

Makeva Jenkins husband Euri was the same way.

He would wear the matching outfits and smile for the family photos. But you could tell that Euri had resentment towards his independent, entrepreneur wife. Smh

Thank you for joining us. I know that it is a painful time for you and other friends of Shanann. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I don't mean to overload you, but these are things I'd like to know if you are to able to give us information:

1. Do you know where we could find a floorplan of the Watts home? Does the housing development have a name, so we can look for their floorplan online?
Can you look at the2 attached floorplans and see if they are correct? I may have the girls' bedrooms wrong. I don't know which patio option.

2. Are there low windows on the side of the garage that Nikole's son would be able to see Shahnann's car inside the garage? Or could it be that the garage's front roll-up door
wasn't locked? Is there an outside side door to the garage that could have been unlocked? (There is one in the floorplans below)

3. Do you know where the Amazon Echo was located in the Watts home other than than the kitchen? Was there more than one Echo? If so, where were they located? Alexa could have recorded the murders.

4. How many flat screen TVs did the Watts have and where were they located?
I ask because smart TVs, especially Samsungs, can eavesdrop and record the audio inside your house. The TV(s) and Google Voice on Shanann's cellphone could have recorded the murders.

6. I'm confused about the day and time at whch the neighbors 2 doors down heard Dieter barking in a terrible way as if he had been injured. They said they called the police for a wellness check and everything was ok. Do you know what day and time this happened? Was Dieter still in the Watts house when the cadaver dogs where searching the house?


7. RE: Financial stress. There has been a wide range of speculation about what kind of
salary Shanann was earning --- anywhere from less than $20,000 up to $80,000 and beyond. Can you give us an idea of what she actually was making (not including the
car allowance)?

8. Was there any indication that their home was in danger of foreclosure by the bank
(not HOA)?
Did Shanann's mom co-sign the current mortage?

9. The health of Bella and CeCe seemed very fragile, due to much more than just nut allergies. Shanann had a category on her Pinterest page titled FMF that included pins about Periodic Fever Syndrome that affects children. Did Bella & CeCe that's why they had surgery in March to remove their adenoids and insert ear tubes? Did the girls have frequent health crises?

10. How many baby monitor display screens did Shanann have and where were they located? Were they split screen so you could see Bella's room and CeCe's room
at the same time? Were they color or black-and-white? Did their baby monitors
record or upload via wifi to a Cloud? Do you know the model number or name of the Summer Infant monitor that the Watts owned??

11. Do you know if their Ring doorbell would record the vistor on Shanann's cell phone or Cloud whether she answered the alert or not?

It's interesting because a lot of times SW is gently (or not so gently) panned for trying to present a "perfect" family life and household through her photos and posts. Yet when she posts videos of her family being perfectly human and her doing the things that MANY of us do (playing with the kids, ribbing husband, bossing people around, laughing, etc) then that's not quite right as well. It is difficult being a parent these days when, thanks to social media, it feels like everyone is watching.

I can't watch AB either. Banfield posts her segments on her websites a day or two after they air. I have only seen SW's house from the outside. It is pretty.

SW was no doubt the director, screenwriter, and producer, as well as a member of the cast. Was she the same off screen? We really don't know. We do know that while CW was the great daddy and husband on screen, we also know that off screen he eventually was Freddy Krueger! Why? We don't know, we can only speculate. But without, shall we say corroberating evidence of personality traits and motives, the videos really only offer a fleeting view of a family performing for the camera.

Agreed. Watch out for confirmation bias and be open to all new information - whether it’s in line with your current position or not... then form your own opinion, based on your own personal thoughts and life experiences. That’s obviously going to be different for everyone.

If for no other reason, the discussions re: differing interpretations of the videos are an important reminder that this is what juries do too... they are all provided with the same “evidence”, but each person may interpret that evidence in a different way. That’s one of the things that can make trials somewhat unpredictable. Even the most careful voir dire won’t reveal every relevant past experience or potential bias.

I don't do SM, so I don't speak from direct experience here, but performing to the extent that SW and CW did for the camera must have been absolutely exhausting. Or at least it would be for me. IMO.

I was thinking about this case quite a bit. Apparently and according to Shannan, she met Chris when she was very sick with lupus. She said that he accepted her with her illness and she was grateful and she said she allowed him to get close to her. As the years progressed Shannan got stronger and healthier and it seems to me she had a strong personality. she was a go- getter. Ashley Banfield showed a house Shannan had
built when she was 25 years old. it was a magnificent home; her taste in furniture was impeccable. So I was thinking that as she became stronger and healthier, the nature of their relationship changed; she may have been no longer meek and quite as grateful. Maybe she spoke up more and more of her strong personality came through. Perhaps he liked her a lot better when she was sick and he was more in control.

Who knows what motivates someone to horrifically murder their wife and innocent children. All we can do is speculate why such a monstrous thing could happen.

I hate that he had a hung jury. That’s what I’m afraid of here too.

I'm not worried about a hung jury. He admits to killing his wife, so that will be a sure conviction, I'm guessing. I also think the jury will be convinced he killed the girls as well, but even if they aren't, he will most likely spend the rest of his life behind bars anyway.

As much as I don't particularly like the SM videos (with a huge acknowledgement that others find them a-okay), I do not for one second think SW killed her girls. CW will pay for his crimes.

I agree.

As we all try to make sense of something that is senseless I have been wondering lately about something. There is probably going to end up being a whole host of things that contributed to him doing what he did. Many things like his other affairs, financial difficulties, and probably other things all contributed to him doing what he did.

With that being said, the one thing that I am wondering about if it had a part in the contribution is what we have seen in some other cases is a thing called "roid rage".

Im not sure if he was even taking any steroids or anything that would have a side effect of losing ones temper but there have been many cases where "roid rage" came into the discussion so have been wondering about that. His body transformation was pretty remarkable and so it does make me wonder. And if there is any truth that medicines like that can cause one to have a hot temper then it does make me wonder if it could have contributed in any way if he took anything like that.

I don't want to get TOO far into it, but I agree. I suspect that something similar is going to be brought up. If CW doesn't stick with his current defense then I can absolutely see them going in some kind of chemical route and even using her social media stuff to "prove" what a "great" dad he was "before."
