I understand what you're saying and I have vacillated myself, but I keep coming back to "he killed the girls first". As far as the truck, he probably didn't want to be seen at an unusual hour. Do we know if there are police or security patrols in that neighborhood at night? Someone who might have stopped to inquire, if CW or an open garage door were seen at an unusual hour? He probably felt safe leaving things as they were inside the house and figured he'd be back later. Didn't expect NAU to show up!
Yes, he had to drive through that ranch to get to the oil vats and that may have been suspicious at night.
Early in the morning could just be a job starting early.

Very good point.

Also JMO, no matter how good the story, I don't think it will be possible with jurors who don't know anyone involved in the case, to overcome the fact that CW removed the bodies from the house and hid them. And then lied to LE. And then gave three media interviews in which he chuckled, smirked and smiled as he lied to the public.

And that is before we even get to any possible other evidence that LE may have collected that shows he killed all three, with deliberation. That's just three of the charges, but the really big ones that I do believe will land him on death row or in prison with multiple life sentences.

This is pretty much where I am at as well.

The other night I caught an episode about the Adam Matos case and it made me think of this one.

The common element to them (aside from both involving a male murdering multiple members of a family), is that they both hid the bodies.

In both cases they (AM and CW) knew there was just way too much evidence against them. They have no way to get out of being responsible for the murders, so really, their only avenue to try to shave a little bit of the responsibility off their shoulders is to fabricate a scenario in which they had a "moral" reason to commit the murder.

For Adam Matos is was self-defense, and for CW it was attacking his wife for killing his kids. He cannot cop to killing his kids, so he has to go with a slightly less worse option, and that is to blame SW for killing them and then he gets to make the "moral" choice to kill her in response.

MOO

NAU definitely did.. throw things off!

Has anyone said that though MG?
I'm reading Nutmegg's post and I can't find it "scenario of C.W. giving the kids what he thought was a “proper burial.”
I was agreeing with @Nutmegg though?
Don't blame MG, he was quoting my snarky remark. I just don't think putting them in oil was because he was avoiding any religious mistreatment of a body.

We don't know what he was doing before their first date, if he came from work, if he laughed when she said it and appreciated the good natured ribbing. So he wore different clothes the next time. I don't see anything particularly ominous in that. I have a lot of spanish speaking friends, you wouldn't believe how many good natured "gordito" and "gorditas" I hear.
It was a date. He didn’t come from work.

I can see this as being very possible.

His fear of jail was worse than his fear of life without his remaining family. How he could want to be alive after murdering any of them is inconceivable to me.
And then we come back to his expressions, behavior, and (almost) glee during the interviews.

I thought you were making a general point about the "grim reality here" meaning this thread.
No. I meant the deaths of the Watts family as being a “grim reality.”

Also, and this is just my opinion: the videos make me uncomfortable. It does seem that there was a teasing of the kids that SW saw as loving and affectionate, the same way she (according to Trinket78) teased CW. To force a child to get whipped cream in her face when she continually expresses that she does not want this, even hiding under a chair, is not something that is okay in my world. But it is a different parenting style, not a crime. What struck me as even more odd was CW's utter inability to truly engage with his kids. He does what she says and says "nice. nice. nice." He is not spontaneous or playful or connected. He may freeze up on camera, he may be an extremely inarticulate man, or he may be someone who was going through the motions and already checked out in certain ways. OR he was going along with something he hated. All MOO.
I completely agree with all of that and said similar thoughts in thread 20 about him not being engaged and repeating the “nice nice nice”. He definitely seemed to be going through the motions.

I have a difficult time thinking he was observing religious restrictions on methods of burial after he (IMO) killed them and took them off for that horrid burial without even having authorities check to see if they were alive or if they could be helped.

AndI didn't say I thought he was observing a religion, either, I said some religions don't believe in some forms of after death internment and the point was we don't know what CW was thinking when he put them in there---it COULD HAVE been a symbolic burial or protection or whatever he was thinking. His choice of disposal doesn't prove he's a family annihilator. So twisty!

I don't think people feel comfortable speculating on any of that based on the feedback of the past few days!

I'm not uncomfortable at all! CW repeatedly lied to LE and he lied repeatedly in every one of his media interviews. What was that all about? It was about trying to avoid facing consequences.

After being confronted with evidence by LE of SW's shallow grave and the bed sheet from their home that was discovered at the very place he went to after he left the house that morning, CW states he'll tell the truth after he talks to his Dad.

He then comes back and says the truth is SW strangled the girls and he went into a rage and strangled SW. Which is an attempt to avoid facing consequences for three first degree murder charges, with deliberation, which could land him on death row or with multiple life sentences.

JMO.

I asked the question long ago on the board, re whether or not he had to go through that arch, and ranch buildings to get to the cervil site. That couple posted a video of looking for (and finding) the tanks far away, but they didn't seem to go through the cervil arch. So I don't know IF he had to go through that arch and by the buildings in that one video, but IF HE DID there may have been certain hours that would be offbounds. I still think it's weird that he went to that particular tank farm when it was daylight (per AB). Of course that doesn't refer to what you are saying about activity in his neighborhood at weird hours.

Thanks MG :)- it just gets hard to tell , in general , these days.

He doesn’t strike me as the sentimental type.

@Trinket78 have you spoken with CW, before or after he was arrested?

Really good question. I especially want to know what he said, if anything, while he was lying about what happened.

He could have been thinking anything at all, I can't put myself in that frame of mind, never having killed anyone at all, lol. I guess I think that once he kills them (IMO) he has surpassed the theme of observing any religious restrictions or guidelines on burial. Sorry if I offended you or misunderstood you, my ire is directed at him, I still can't get over throwing those little girls in oil which is why I won't watch any more of those videos than the Christmas one I watched by accident. I just spent 27 hours listening to the account of another family murder which was a lot bloodier, but the little girls and the pregnant mom were just as dead. Probably should go watch the evening news instead. Sorry if I offended you.

I was gone for around 8 hours and returned to what feels like a totally different board.

SW having MBP or Munchausen Syndrome is based on what, precisely? I realize we are not meant to bring social media rumors to the group but that is exactly where that "idea" came from-it originated from a troll trying to stir up trouble in a FB group this morning, spawned more than 1k responses, and has now made its way here.

Is it based on the idea that she had multiple illnesses? Lupus is a cluster disease, meaning that it is often a co-morbidity to other medical conditions. People almost never "just" have Lupus. It often goes hand-in-hand with other illnesses.

I just spent 8 hours in the ER where I was given treatment for pneumonia and a slipped disc causing sciatica. I am frequently ill, which is something that happens when you have a poor immune system, something that is common with autoimmune disorders like Lupus. The fact that she had other conditions, like Fibro, doesn't surprise me. In fact, in my experience, people rarely have just one disorder with Lupus.
