So odd that he would do the interviews in the first place.
He strikes me as the kind of person that has a hard time saying 'no'. IMO

I'm glad you said this. I have thought to myself, during this, what if this were my brother? (not suggesting CW is your brother, but as a point of reference of someone I truly care about.) My brother is shy, small in stature, loving by all accounts. What if his family was suddenly gone and he knew where and the media was all over him? He would remain calm and polite. I would be able to see thru it immediately because I love him so much and understand how he works. Behind the scenes, with me, he would show his true self.
Is this how you see him? Again, I'm not suggesting he's your brother but someone you know very deeply.

Awesome post. I know a few men who are the same as you describe your brother.

Remember there IS always another side.

There is not always 'another side' that is valid, when it comes to cold blooded murder.

And his response, to what he says is his wife's violence, makes no sense to many people.

Not just where they are, but who put them in that awful place, and why! Knew that they were dead and he was partly, or completely responsible! Knew THAT THEY WERE NOT COMING BACK, even as he said; please bring them back." Would your brother smile knowingly and preen for a reporter while knowing the truth?

It has been said there are "two sides" to this case.

I'm open to being corrected, but to me it seems like these are the two possible scenarios we are debating at this point:

1. If we assume he is telling the truth, then he killed his pregnant wife and then took his children and his wife and attempted to hide their bodies.

2. If we assume he is lying, he killed all of them and hid their bodies.

These two scenarios are both sickening and horrific. Neither is good. Both are very bad. Both are illegal.

I have to state this, it's not just me who can't understand how CW could rationalize strangling SW while thinking their 2 daughters were dead and now, here is killing his son too. I asked my DH what he would do if I needed to be restrained while pregnant. He said that he would do just that, restrain me, not strangle me. No matter how little self esteem CW had, or was attempting to gain, can I make sense of him wiping out everyone and walking away from it, alive.

I think its important to keep an open mind until we hear ALL the verified facts at trial. Until then, we should not discount a VI aka Trinket78's observations. MOO!

It's not unusual for people to respond inappropriately under stressful situations. JMO

That’s what a loving father does, appeals to the public in an effort to get his kids back. He had a story to sell. Fortunately he failed.

My DH found CW's behavior to be very odd. More so than I did. It was eye-opening. If anyone here has an introverted, type B husband or close male friend/relative, have them watch the videos, ask them what they see.
Care to share what his insights were? I'm very curious!

Yes that's true. I'm certainly not a professional, but I think the inappropriate behavior would be consistent. His wasn't. You also have to keep it in context of thee dark secrets he knew!

I’ll do my best to answer this. I can see where the masses view is what you said. It’s only because I know him I didn’t see that. I saw fear and nervousness. I saw someone who was trying to keep it together. He meant what he said. He wanted his family back. It was a nightmare staying in that house that night. It’s easy for me to have this view because I know his mannerisms. No need for anyone to jump on me for this. This is only how I saw it.

Did you contact him and tell him to confess?

I would imagine many of the married men on here didn't get to keep much of their bachelor furniture and clothes after they got married. I know my husband didn't. To me emotional abuse would be calling your spouse stupid, lazy, ugly, etc.

Idk, it seems to me like Shanann was pretty considerate buying him clothes she knew he would like, such as sports fan apparel. She even dressed the whole family in Steelers garb to please him. And we'll all never forget how much he loved that Tar Heels shirt she bought for him.

Valid or not, there is almost always another side. Nothing about this awful nightmare makes sense. It's beyond horrifying.

My problem with it is that he seemed to be doing way too good of a job 'keeping it together.'

Why did he smile so big and act so upbeat about his tarheels shirt? If he truly watched his babyies die at the hands of his wife, and he was then emotional enough to kill her and his unborn son, how was he able to keep it together as well as he did?

I am not trying to jump on you, I am just trying to understand his psyche. How could he go through such a devastating loss, then go to work the next morning and do what he did, then act like it was all OK?
Yes, you have expressed what puzzles me (and I'm assuming many of us). Would love some insight on this.

I'm not sure I understand this question. can you elaborate? Not sure why my quote is not coming through?

My brother would feel helpless actually and just try to get thru the moment. He would feel very pressured by everything and very alone. His politeness could very well be misread imo. He would not lie to the cameras tho. He would go quiet instead.
I'm not defending CW's behavior in any shape or form so don't misunderstand me. I'm trying to understand our VI's impression of CW and the interviews. It's always good to allow another perspective in ones evaluation when we don't have all the facts imo.
