It’s been speculated by some forensic psychologists and a masters professor of psychology at a Colorado University. He exhibits a lot of traits of a sociopath or psychopath.
Pretty sure he'll be diagnosed soon enough by an expert. Defense will want any mental issues diagnosed as part of their defense.

You know what I did when I found my dead child in the room with my husband*? Although he'd clearly been dead for a while, I called 911 and started CPR and then left with the ambulance. I didn't strangle my husband and dump my child's body in our well. Although I was not in my right mind, either, I still behaved pretty much the way you are meant to. I realize that people react in diffetent ways during trauma but few desecrate the bodies after.

*FWIW, he went into cardiac arrest from an illness we didn't know he had and died in his sleep. My husband didn't kill him; he was asleep on the other side of the room.
OT
I'm so sorry for the loss of your son. I was going to message you privately when I saw you mention it in a previous post, but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

Well if that's true, and can be proven, then there goes CW entire defense.

That article says detectives believe they were killed between 8/12 and 8/13. When was the last confirmed sighting of the children by someone else?
I believe it was at the birthday party on the 12th.

If SW killed the children, and he killed her...why hide the bodies and cover up HER crime? In our society, it’s the murder of innocent children that is considered the most heinous of the two crimes. Why wasn’t he on the phone to Police...”my #@$* wife just murdered our kids...OMG...and I’ve killed her?” Why wasn’t he in their rooms, devastated...when the police found their bodies...instead of loading up corpses and riding for miles to dump those babies in the most disrespectful way?

If SHE killed them...and he reacted out of horror and grief...how could he treat their little bodies that way?

Because SW did not kill her girls. CW used this second story when the first one (SW running off with the girls) did not pan out. And how convenient for CW the girls were in crude oil for 4 days. Good odds that any DNA will no longer be on the bodies of the children.

Either way he would have been blamed. He chose the worst option of two bad options.
Or maybe if as you imply SW did this to their daughters, he could have performed CPR on his girls, called 911 and subdued SW. No one will ever believe CW is a victim in these crimes.

Will SW's health be brought up at trial? For instance her lupus diagnosis, treatment and progression, and any mental health issues she's had? If there is something in her past it could help his case. (Not suggesting there is - just wondering if there is can it be used?)

So very sorry. I just can't imagine. Hugs for you.

Or someone in complete shock over what has happen.
You’re entitled to your opinion, however, I truly believe he killed everybody and planned to do it. I do not believe his story for one second. His wife was a loving, doting mother. She wouldn’t harm those girls. He on the other hand killed his wife rather than calling the police if she was in fact hurting the girls, which she wasn’t. That’s just another lie he is telling.

It’s clear that he regrets doing that.

I think he created an option that an innocent person would not create.

I don’t see anything that says this was planned. Even if you believe he killed all of them, I don’t see it being planned.

The good thing is Personality Disorders are not viewed as being mentally unstable. CW knows right from wrong. He didn’t have a mental break. He knew what he was doing. This was all to benefit him.

The arrest affidavit indicates the crimes were premeditated.

8. CW states in affidavit that he woke around 5 am. Later in the affidavit it states CW informed SW at around 4 am that he wanted to go through with the separation. So right there is a contradiction in times. How can CW awake at 5 am and tell SW at 4 am he wants a separation. He then apparently leaves at 5:27 am to go to work. If he woke at 5 am and leaves at 5:27 then it was a short conversation for an important subject.
Great post!

And then the very next day (!), he says this:
(See below, around 6:00)

CW: She got home really late about 2 am.
Reporter: Did you wake up?
CW: NoYes! (a new word invented) I saw her when she got in. But it was really quick. Just because it was 2 am in the morning but I saw the kids in the monitor before I left and that was it.

we haven't been told the detail yet, but so far there is nothing at all to suggest the kids' bodies were mutilated in order to get them to fit into the tank hatches - as per ur post

We've had abou. 5 posters over the 7 threads with direct experience of the industry & the photos & links, they have explained that the poor kids would not need mutilating to fit thru the hatches.

Welcome to you and all newbies.
I think anytime you move a corpse, change its position or anything that would disrupt the crime scene, it is considered tampering with a corpse.

He gave no indication of shock when he was lying and giggling the next day.
Yeah, that smiling and chuckling was bizarre. I thought initially he must be on some kind of sedative/anti-anxiety medication but later, after his confession, I realized he had just been lying ( and badly ).

I was convinced nobody would believe his ridiculous, nonsensical story but now I've seen at least 2 posters who do believe it. This makes me a little more concerned that one person on the jury might buy it too.

I mean its so completely out of left field. Oh, you were so devastated that your wife killed your children that you bagged them up, drove 40 miles and stuffed them in an oil tank?

I am so surprised also that anyone could believe what imo is such an obvious and desperate lie. Brings to mind Chris Vaughn, another family annihilator. I think it is very clear that this Chris killed their children first, unfathomable as that is. Whether planned or if he snapped in caring for them on his own, he then decided he had to kill his wife. I also agree that if the scenario was such that he described, you don't just dump your children's bodies, you don't sound so callous, you don't stand on the porch the way he did licking your chops.

I have not read every article but is there any chance that the girls were killed and disposed before SW got home? Like when was the last time someone saw the girls or talked to them live-any neighbor reports? Is there any chance that SW came home and the girls were already gone and he only had SW to deal with?

That is what I thought until they released his statement.

He may be dumb, but he's not that stupid. He doesn't strike me as brazen enough to bring the mistress to his house when the kids were there (or to kill the kids then have hot sex at the murder scene). I would say it is VERY likely that SW had friend spies checking to see what he was doing while she was in NC. And I wouldn't doubt it if he brought the mistress to their house when she was gone in NC for weeks. It's very possible, that since she suspected the affair, when she was in AZ, it was confirmation of it, maybe there was a confrontation.

I think he is stupid enough to have done that. He's in jail isn't he?
We don't know motive, but he was denying he had a mistress - distancing himself. She's the reason.
