And the DA's office did a stellar job. Zero leaks on their end that this was coming. Any leaks came from CW's side...and were incomplete. IMO someone led some people to believe there would be a plea today that partially exonerated CW. Thank goodness they were misinformed, because I was getting nervous that justice might not be done.
Yep. LE did everything right in this case. From the officer who first showed up at the door to the DA in today's press conference. Frederick and Weld County may be small, but they sure are mighty!

My bet is she is going to give an interview to a major program at some time in the future. It will be her chance to speak and reveal all and defend her friend.
I'm with NUA here. Giving an national interview earlier put her life at risk. Anything more will only fuel the haters, and put her at risk. Those that matter already know the truth. MOO

Yes! Also appreciated his response when asked if CW was going to be required to tell the court what he's done. He essentially said they believe if he did speak it wouldn't be the truth. I don't think he wants CW to have one more second of opportunity to cast more aspersions on Shanann.

Colorado, you have been a true friend to Shanann. You've also conducted yourself like a real lady and a class act on this forum, and my impression of Shannan has always been that she was also a real lady and a class act.

Even though I never knew Shanann, Bella, Celeste and Nico, I will never forget them. I hope there is some kind of comfort for Shanann's family, her friends and for you in knowing that he's finally told the truth and that he will never again walk free.

Big hugs.

The DA in the press conference did not mention "after deliberation" for the children, but apparently it is there in the paperwork.

Yeah. He was definitely making a point. Refuting the disgusting story CW created to try to make himself out to be a hero avenging his childrens' deaths, rather than a soulless baby killer.

Agreed. I feel we will get disclosure of almost everything you listed. And stuff we didn't know about.

But I think it's shameful that a profession of guilt wasn't allowed to be recorded. The public has an interest in this case. A baby killer pleading guilty and admitting he was a liar.
Does the court make a recording of these types of proceedings?

I think it's interesting that when killers give these bizarre confessions many people think it means the crime was the work of a criminal mastermind fooling LE and intentionally confessing to things that would refute elements of a crime.

Really, they end up locking themselves into a false story before any evidence is reviewed and they put themselves in a much worse position than if they did not say anything at all.

If you lie in your confession, you're a liar throughout trial. You no longer get to effectively challenge the state's evidence - you've already proven to be a liar. The jury won't trust you, even if the state's case is weak.

I think that's what happened here, and what will end up being shown to have happened in Mollie's case too. These aren't criminal masterminds, they're weak little men who fall apart during LE questioning. I hope we don't glorify and give them any more credit than they deserve - which is none.

Amen Alethea.
Perfectly said

I agree! I think her life was more at risk than CWs if he were given bond! Pure hate against her and Shanann! This is the most disappointing reveal about parts of our society, women vilified by other women! :(

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the major reasons this approach to the DA by the defence happened because of the porch interviews. He was never going to be able to take the stand - with those smiles, his amusement at being asked about his favorite shirt, those eyes that were NOT haunted in the slightest.

I'm not saying there isn't more damning evidence in support of the charges but the defence was hamstrung by those interviews. How could they even begin to suggest Shan'ann killed her girls with his public show of relief.

But baby killers aren't all that popular, are they?
If he plans to stick around, he'll have a story to spin and he only has to have one supporter inside to keep him happy.

A question for Gitana. If the plea arrangement, which was sought by the defense, had not been agreed upon, how do the defense then reverse themselves and say OK we deny what we just said about him being guilty, now we are going back to preparing for a trial ?

Plea negotiations remain confidential. There are a lot conversations that the sides may have that indicate they all know reality but we will never be privy to them.

On behalf of all the people world wide seeking justice for Shan'ann & her children, please pass on our gratitude to NUA for her loyalty (that came at a high price). Thank you @Colorado303 for being our liason both here and outside this forum. You are very much appreciated. #SHINE LIKE SHAN'ANN.

Agree 1000%. Also a big shout out to @gitana1. @Alethea. @Mrspratcher @aamanda? Who I can’t find. She predicted this outcome for today.

Focus not on the guilty; we will not say his name, show his face, nor give him notoriety. Instead, remember those lost and choose to never forget them. This should always be the real story.

Shanann's family is a class act. And so are you, Colorado. Thank you for being here and standing up for your friend the way you have. I know it hasn't been easy, but you should be very proud. (((Hugs)))
Hugs back to ALL of you who stood by Shanann and the girls even if you never had the chance to know them. I wish you had--she was truly good and her positive energy was contagious and the little girls were cute with so much promise. I'm not particularly spiritual but I know SW is grateful and smiling down at all of you. I hope you can feel it too.

Taking into consideration the family, I can understand the plea. Another death would do nothing.

But he killed those girls which is against everything I believe in. He killed an unborn baby who never took a breath. He killed a wife who at some point loved him enough to marry him. He violated a binding trust each of this family believed in and depended upon. And those 3 babies had never thought of the evil danger that slept in the room next door. Every single evil in this case emitted from Chris Watts yet he alone is left standing and four others are dead.

No amount of years in prison will begin to make any parties while. This is a Dad and a husband who most likely thought he could kill his existing families and start over with his mistress. People are not erasable. They’re not disposable. And not expendable.

My only wish is that he stand in court and allocute.
