One of those deranged, obsessed ones probably.

One of these “yeah, he killed his wife and two daughters, but after all, we all saw Shanann feding a nut bar to her kid, on a video”.

This article actually answers two questions that were previously brought up...

So he didn't admit to killing them and then directing them to their bodies. This reads as though they found the bodies first and THEN he gave them his story. (Most of us already knew this but a day or two ago this came up again and some thought that he told them where to find the bodies. That's not how this reads. It really does sound as if LE found them and then he scrambled to cover his tail.)

Also, a few days ago there were some questions about CW changing his story. One or two posters were saying that his story never changed. It DID, though.

This is confirmation that he did initially tell LE that she was there when he left. He later told LE that she'd killed the kids and he'd killed her in a rage.

These are just small things, but they inspired quite a bit of back and forth at the time.

Lastly...

Not surprising. Neither did most of us.

Chris Watts pleads guilty to Colorado killing of pregnant wife, daughters - CNN
The best information about CW’s confessions and the discovery of the whereabouts of the bodies is located in sequential order in the affidavit. LE knew about a freshly dug plot that looked like a grave after the drone search, but at the time of his confession, CW admitted he strangled SW and buried her in that freshly dug plot and then he admitted that he dumped the girls in the oil tanks, but SW strangled them.. https://mediaassets.thedenverchanne...53.1695140687.1541579209-659952771.1539450550

I hope so too, she may have played a significant part in his downfall but I don't want to give her credit though, if it isn't due.

I would like to know about the health documents CW wanted to keep out of the state's hands, it opens up so many possibilities!
The big question I would like answered, were the girls killed before Shanann arrived home?
Actually, the more I think about it, the more questions I come up with. I will have to be patient again, wait for the news but I'm sure we can still speculate, there's some great minds here!
BBM

Not sure why but that's one of the things I want to know most too. DA said something during Q&A indicating he doesn't know the order of their deaths. If he doesn't know, maybe the only person that does is CW. If that's the case, we'll never really know because even if he talks we can't believe him.

Yes. I found it interesting, but not surprising that CW was escorted into court wearing a bullet-proof vest.
That tells me he has received plenty of death threats.

Yes, this was brought up during that convo but we still kept going around in circles about it. I was hoping the CNN article spelled it out a little more completely for those who still had questions.

I said I wouldn’t be back until there was actual news & I stuck to it! I didn’t expect this so soon & I haven’t read other people’s reactions yet. Right now, I’m just so glad the girls family & friends & his family & friends can close this chapter & move on to the next stage of grief with some honest information. He could have created decades of hell for everyone. So, bye to crazy people who support Chris while stalking & harassing the victims family. I hope your kookie oxygen has been used up. All of my love to friends & family directly impacted and to others who are indirectly impacted. I love you, support you & will always be here for you

I’m not sure what’s so confusing. Maybe I don’t understand. LE knew about something that looked like a grave going into the interrogation room, they didn’t know if anyone was in it because they hadn’t dug it up, yet. They didn’t know about the oil tanks.

Whatever motivated him to plead guilty, I'm grateful he did. That's one thing he did right in a very long time.

Shanann got her dignity back today. Something that should have never been taken away from this beautiful mom, daughter, friend, someone who lived like there's no tomorrow. Hope Her family can move on a little bit easier now.

Himself is what motivated him. But, I'm grateful and thankful he has. Not grateful to him and not thankful to him. Just grateful and thankful that the innocent victims left behind do not have to suffer a trial, hearing each awful detail of the murder of their four loved ones.

Thankful that he will rot in a cell for the rest of his pathetic life.

I could not believe it, but it may be possible he killed the kids first. Since they were not there as he was grilling, he may have been celebrating. The stomach contents of the girls will tell the tale.

The topic was forbidden before but since it has been brought up, perhaps there was sexual abuse.
One of the v.i originally stated that they said what did SW do when Chris was giving his sob excuses for them being missing and then why they were dead.

So what does that v.i think now?

Especially since Chris is saying guilty instead of the No Contest plea for the girls murders.

If mamma bear wanted sonny boy to have the best defense. Then she could have signed over property and businesses or whatever to make that happen.

But now Colorado tax paying residents can now cover the bill for his 3 hots and a cot for the next 60 years. No worries.

Atleast you get to keep your property and belongings.

I don't know about elsewhere, but I am in a rural town, northern Michigan, and it was broadcast several times today, as I watched election stuff going on. So, big news! My town is 4000 people.
Ironically in Denver it didn't even make the 10:00 p.m. local news cycle on one network. Another ran a super-short story (45 seconds-ish) midway in after 15 minutes or so of election coverage. Didn't watch the other two networks but they probably weren't much different. I don't think it was a coincidence they chose today to announce the plea bargain and IMO it's another example of how the defense team served their client well.

WOW! Definitely shocked this morning waking up to this!!

So glad....

Rest in Peace Shanann, Celeste, Bella & Nico.

Cw could have pleaded no contest for the same prison time. But he is pleading guilty.

Which means he is actually guilty.

Did y'all see his last picture taken at the birthday party that Sunday with his North Carolina shirt on?

Plus didn't he wear another North Carolina shirt in one of his interviews?

So was he tired of the Denver facade?

Didnt MsBetsy tell us 4 days ago that he will be taking a plea deal this Tuesday and we all thought no way.

Good job MsBetsy. You were right.

Had there been any evidence of sexual abuse that DA wouldn’t have let CW slide. He would have charged him. But CW plead guilty to 3 deliberate murders, but we’ve seen no evidence of premeditation. There has to be something we don’t know about. The autopsy reports? Text messages? Internet searches?

That was the best quote from the news conference.

I am so relieved that Shanann's family does not have to sit through a trial listening to the defense assassinate her character.
That was a great 2nd post, and many share your relief!

Welcome to WS; you're among friends here. :)

I agree. Something unexplainable and indefensible evidence that he killed them all with premeditation must be in the autopcy report. I wouldn't be surprised to discover different manner of death for each or some type of mutilation inflicted on the bodies.

Boy, I can't wait till the report is unsealed. Hopefully before Thanksgiving?

Maybe we can learn about why the gas cans too, if that was used in any way during 'burial'.
I'm interested in hearing what they found on his computer and phone. I think it more likely than not they left a damning trail too. Perhaps when SW/girls were in NC he sent texts to AP saying they had separated. Angry messages from AP calling him a liar when she realized SW and the girls were back. And telling him if didn't get them out of the in short order their affair would be over.

And/or his search engine history may provide clear proof of premeditation. Investigating if crude oil obscures forensic evidence on a corpse . Googling how to strangle someone to death, collecting life insurance if body is missing, CO murder laws--inquiries like that prior to 2:00 a.m. Monday morning would be very difficult to explain away. If they're there, he probably tried. I can picture him telling his defense team he didn't do those searches and SW must have done them so she could frame him when she strangled her girls to death.

Whatever's there, I hope it's released for the world to see.

While we've seen no evidence of premeditation, I believe the plea to his first degree charges are an admission to the deliberate, premeditated, murder.

Under Colorado law, first-degree murder is the deliberate and premeditated killing of another human being with malice aforethought. It differs from second-degree murder in that it requires extreme indifference to human life generally rather than the intent to take the life of a particular person.
