Yes. And let's be clear. Innocent fathers don't ever, ever, ever plead guilty to the first degree, premeditated murders of their children for ANY reason.

And the death penalty was likely little motivation for CW here. It's meaningless in CO for the most part.

He knew he was guilty. He knew the evidence was clear. He knew he would have to sit there and watch his family, friends, the entire nation and beyond, listen to the lurid details of what he did as why. But by bit by bit. In dramatic testimony. In texts he wrote and internet searches he made. Etc.

He conceded because he is guilty and knew how awful the process of going through trial to get a verdict, would be, for HIM.

Exactly! Although cases where false confessions have been made, may be cited, this is totally different. I have never ever heard of a single case where a father falsely admitted to murdering his children.

Wow. I am not shocked that he is responsible. I am shocked, however, that he admitted his role in their deaths.

While I remain sorrowful for the families involved, I am relieved that SW's family does not have to endure a horrific trial.

Peace and love to all. May today bring brightness rather than pain in the world.

This was my first thought as well. It would not surprise me if he attempts or commits suicide.

I found it interesting in the article that it claimed he decided to take the plea after he realized his life was over. As in, he apparently harbored the belief he had a legitimate chance at trial, and it was only when his lawyers thoroughly disabused him of the notion that he realized the best he was getting is life in prison. I think if that's his train of thought, he is probably not going to try to make the best of his situation in prison and instead will actively seek his only other way out.

Is he still on suicide watch, I presume?
I agree. I think he will attempt suicide or, as I stated yesterday, he will be murdered in prison. It may not be for a few years but I think it will happen. IMO

Not unless she agrees to it. She has managed to stay anonymous this long. I'm sure she wants to put the whole nightmare behind her and go on with her life.
Well, not really. Lots of info about her is "out there" but I am still curious that the press haven't been all over her. I presumed it was because they were showing restraint so as not to interfere with proceedings, but now I wonder if they will go after her.

That didn't cross my mind, but I could definitely see that, too.

What is the normal procedure on people being put in the general prison population? Would he automatically be put in general population or would they probably assume he was a likely target and not do that right away?

Agreed on all counts. I actually just did another search to make sure her name (and connections to Anadarko and CW) haven't hit MSM yet. The media is usually on top of this kind of thing, at least the entertainment/gossip news sites. Right or wrong, it's juicy enough that I've assumed the silence was out of respect for the impending trial as well.

I’m glad he made the plea deal. This case made me think of Christopher Vaughn who killed his family in 2007 and tried to blame his wife. His trial didn’t start until 2012.

After 20 hours, CW guilty plea shock is beginning to sink in. However, I was hoping someone could help me: When does a defendant get an opportunity to apologise to the family? I presume it wouldn't normally be made before the sentence hearing. IIRC CA made hers before the Judge gave sentencing. I wonder if CW will make an official apology? Were they tears of remorse or crocodile tears? .......... I'm not holding my breath

MOD NOTE

Do not sleuth CW's AP. She's remained mostly anonymous so far and we don't need to change that. There's no evidence that she had anything to do with the murders or knew that CW was going to murder his entire family.

I haven’t been following the threads much recently but was pleased to see CW plead guilty. Though saying “pleased” is hardly an acceptable response. My heart broke seeing Sandi, Frank Sr and Frank Jr, particularly seeing Jr holding Sr’s hands. How they can be so dignified at a time of such sadness and adversity, I do not know. I know I wouldn’t be. They are in my daily prayers as are Shan’ann, CeCe, Bella and Nico. I am glad they have been spared a trial <modsnip - mentioning negative comments>. Am also glad the spotlight of blame is firmly on CW.

He's had almost 3 months to apologize. And, although it's possible that he's made some kind of apology that we haven't been privy to - to his family or even Shanann's, I highly doubt it. MOO

You can't kill three people at once via strangulation. So at least two murders were premeditated.

But yeah, I agree there's more that shows he wanted out. And badly.
He's admitted that all the murders were premeditated.

What We Still Don't Know About the Watts Family Murders — and When We'll Know It
How did they die? And why?

On Tuesday, following Chris’ surprise guilty plea to all three first-degree murders (among other crimes), Colorado prosecutors told reporters that there is more they cannot say about the case — for now.

“I’m not sure if it’s the entirety of the motive,” he said. “But I will be happy to comment on that following sentencing.”

The autopsies on Chris’ three victims, too, will likely be made public after his sentencing on Nov. 19, where he faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.

It remains unclear if a full picture of the family’s home life will ever be made public. Chris’ plea prevents a trial, which may have involved protracted witness testimony about their marriage, possible domestic issues and other insights into what lead up to the homicides.

So a few questions about this ... mainly the box that is checked re: DNA. And the part about him not wanting evidence released. Thoughts?
I read that as they don't currently have any DNA evidence, but may have evidence that contains DNA that could be tested. MOO

Is there any photo's of CW from yesterday ?

I took it that way too, and that surprises me.
