Right? Didn't he even say (stumble over his words) in the early porch interview that she talks to her people he doesn't even know about. Mmmhmm.
did he..that part doesn't stand out in my memory but you're most likely right if you remember it. I think he was trying to meld the long term story/plan to the short term immediate and it didn't work because people don't immediately think like that. Like missing the children at supper - its only been 12 hours or so, that's the type of thing you mull over when you're certain someone's never coming back because you know they've died. Obviously he knew they weren't ever coming back but that's not what he wanted anyone else to think. His mind should have been on 'I'm so worried for them, this is so out of character, etc.'

Definitely unprepared. Thanks to beautiful friend NUA!

During the VI statements, I hope the Rzuceks rake him over the coals for smearing Shanann. I hope they do the same for others they know who who did the same and I hope they calls them out by name.

He never imagined in a thousand years that within 24 hours he would have police, the FBI and CBI and sniffer dogs going over his property with a fine-tooth comb and a media mic shoved under his nose. He thought.. wives walk out on their husbands everyday - it'll be no big deal, at least not for several weeks, by which time he will have everything in the house cleared up and he will have privately let everyone know how she is most likely "huddled up" somewhere with an old friend he doesn't know, or a new partner, where he can't contact her.

I absolutely believe that this is what he thought would happen. He was already talking about selling the house, that was the next part of his plan and he just couldn’t wait to get started on this new life.

This is really where they trip themselves up the most. This family is missing to everyone else, but he already knows they’re never coming back. He’s on a different wavelength, having already processed that idea and is way ahead of everyone else. So they don’t even realize the things they say are so strange.

That’s why the Thayers, who had initially vigorously defended and supported their friend, rang the police as soon as he left. His behavior was too strange, and they knew.

That was just outright stupid - talking about selling the house. It shows me he is on a different wavelength to most everyone else on this planet.

It doesn't appear that any of their friends saw any warning signs. I'm wondering if their family members noticed any signs. Looking back at things now they may have.

This is so sad and so senseless. Sometimes it's really hard to think about the world we live in. Thankfully, there's still more good than bad.

I can’t help but think Shanann’s family may have the most insight there. She was clearly very close to them. I can’t imagine she could have spent 5-6 weeks with them and not mentioned if things were rocky. Especially after his visit, if he was acting distant.

Her family have said so little but I wonder if one day they will release a statement?

I think her visit back to NC was critical here - during that time he completely detached from her and his children, and probably preferred life without them.

Obviously NUA is the hero here.

But I also think massive credit is due to Law Enforcement too. They didn’t wait. They obviously realised the seriousness of the situation immediately, and the ball started rolling very quickly. I would say from start to finish, the actions of LE are very, very impressive.

Edit: sorry I quoted a reply not the original message, which was in reference to the thought he would have been shocked by Police, FBI, dogs being involved almost immediately.

Yes, and also how he didn't think about the fact that NAU would have known about her appointment or have been concerned. It's as if he doesn't understand basic human emotions. Talking about how empty and lonely the house felt without them, like he thought that's what a normal person thinks, although he had just been without them for 5 weeks.

And calling it ' like a ghost town' on the first day they were missing---that was total leakage .

He was in a tough spot theoretically - if you look at it from his perspective - he knew his AP would be watching and didn't want to piss her off by sobbing about his family that had walked out on him (or flown out the windows). His need to fall into her lap all pleased with his new single status possibly trumped his media appeal.

Maybe.

And leaving all the lights on. IMO he was spooked.

My apologies if this has been asked and answered.

The first charge regarding SW was changed to “murder as a result of domestic violence in an intimate relationship”.
What is the reason and importance as opposed to the original charge of “murder 1”

There’s something about his mind set, though, that he thought his life and happiness were so important, that Shanann, Bella, and CeCe could be dumped in an oil field, and his life would go on just as it was, and only get better without them. How he spent that night at the Thayer’s, taking full advantage of their hospitality under false pretenses, 2 days after he murdered his entire family. How he could lie to the police and stand on his front porch and lie to the world without shedding a tear. Something is very wrong with Chris Watts, so whatever explanation he gives isn’t going to make sense because nothing he did makes sense.
I think he only stayed with the Thayers that night because he wanted people to feel sorry for him being so alone in that ghost town of a house. In his evil idiotic mind, he thought that would explain why he wanted to sell the house so quickly. He even said as much in those porch interviews.

We know he told the Thayers about his plans to sell the house that night. It's up for debate how much it had appreciated since 2013 but he still would have netted a tidy sum for himself, along with getting away from the scrutiny of his neighbors.

However, I don't believe that profiting from the house was his main motive. He was done with that family and wanted a fresh start for himself. JMO

I am different than most people. I don't think if I was in the Watt's family or Shanann's family, I would show up for the sentencing. I would never want to see him again. Their statements will not affect him. Their grief will not matter to him. His family has to deal with all the disgust that his actions have thrust on them.
Nope, I think I would go out to breakfast instead. They know he is going away for life.

I think they call it a sentencing enhancer - it adds to the gravity of the offence, like being in a position of trust in regard to the murders of under-12 year olds. So I believe.

I think LE are trained and experienced in determining whether or not a person is being deceitful. From the beginning I felt if they were so sure they had good reason to be. But it was the evidence, his behavior and his words that convinced me he was lying. Many comments were made in previous threads that behavior is not evidence, but to me it is important. Of course they needed solid evidence to prove that he was guilty, but from so many comments pointing out what they noticed in his interviews, what he said, trying to figure out if the events could have happened like he described, it's obvious that behavior plays a big role. Yes, he pointedly said he missed the kids but didn't say he missed SW.

Thanks, I was wondering if they found evidence of domestic abuse in addition to her murder.

I wondered about that as well. It falls under the category of "intimate partner homicide," I think. Maybe they wanted it specifically defined as an act of domestic violence. Jmo

Prior to CW's guilty plea I was open to the idea that he was telling the truth. I was 99% sure he was responsible, but I was still open to it until I had more information. Now that he's plead guilty I'm completely embarrassed and to be honest, I'm not sure I'll ever be so open to other possibilities again. Has anyone else followed a thread and gone down this road before?
