Scott Reisch points out in his video (Was CW Punked?) that practically speaking there was zero chance of him getting a death sentence carried out in Colorado. So what kind of threat was actually hanging over his head that led him to capitulate so quickly?
I keep having this nasty feeling that it's a setup for a later 'ineffective counsel' appeal.
He confessed and lead them to the bodies and probably confessed some more in a private court.

But hopefully he is forced to state everything done that corroborates with the evidence so there is no chance of his plea being tossed out. Jmo.

That all makes a lot of sense molly. I think I'm looking for something that would let me know he never loved them, not in the way I love for instance. Maybe he was amused by them but I'm talking about risk your life for your kids kind of love. I don't believe he did one day but then it dissipated until one day there was none left. I think he never had the capacity to love. He fooled them into believing he did though. He was a master of pretending.

I agree with you, Tortoise. He doesn't have the capacity to love, but is a great master of pretending that he does.

I do think Shanann was truthful and that he convinced her to have another baby. I think one big reason was likely to keep her in the dark and reinforce his act that he loved her and that he loved his kids so much, he wanted another.

JMO.

Chris Coleman sent the threatening emails to set the stage for his families murder from his own computer, it is mind boggling .
Well duh! At least go to the library to use the computer for your death threats!

The threat that he had to sit in a courtroom and all of his dirty secrets would come out and he would have to hear them in front of people.
They probably still will come out, but he will not have to witness it.
And he can deny it all until his dying day.

Agreed. He's a coward, . . .um . . . .among other things.

If I could do one thing for Shanann's family and friends, I would delete every outrageous, slanderous, and baseless accusation made against her, so many times couched with the caveat of "exploring other possibilities" or "I'm on the fence." Imagine losing your only daughter, your two precious granddaughters, your expectant grandson, and having to read a bunch of psycho-babble about her closet, some spray bottle fun and a Santa Claus video. Where is the outrage for someone who crammed the bodies of his beautiful 3 and 4-year-old toddlers into oil tanks?! Where is the disgust for someone who admittedly strangled his wife and unborn son to death and hid them out in the dirt to rot?! Instead, these apologists chose to attack everything from her parenting to how many pairs of shoes she owned.

I can’t even imagine the pain from the enormous loss this family has suffered, much less how they have endured the despicable behavior of people on the internet who never even knew Shanann or her family. These people are appalling. I know CW’s cult-following, fan club, or whatever you want to call “it” is not a first. I mean heck, Charles Manson, Ted Bundy and Richard Ramirez all married after being convicted. There are some sick people in this world. MOO, JMO, IMO

It was exceedingly disappointing. It seemed like hatred-fueled gossip belied by the fact that exploring possibilities and being on the fence is not the same as always arguing for the side of the defendant and using irrelevant nonsense to do so, all while steadfastly ignoring the massive, grinning, well-rested, body concealing, lying elephant in the room.

It seemed illogical and cruel.

But amazingly, conclusions motivated by hate can be incredibly strong even when not based in rationality. People were pretty certain when news of a plea leaked that it was going to be guilty to less than what was charged!!

People actually looked at the face of that DA, reviewed the facts extensively, including the lying, grinning and concealment of baby bodies, and still concluded that the autopsies must be in the defendant's favor and the state was going to just quickly capitulate with no prior explanation.

That was surprising to me.

IMO it speaks to the power of hatred. At least for some.

Poor Shanann. Everything was taken from her. Her babies lives. The breath from her body. AND her good name as a wonderful mama, a strong survivor and a decent human being.

I'm sad for her and her family. I hope those who joined that bandwagon will try to analyze why, consider the source of some of the nonsense and feel some degree of shame.

Thank you so much! Very well stated and I completely agree. I know a great deal is going to be released now, but I can't help wonder if there is something that might not come out until trial, and ending the case now would preclude it from being released? Something he is absolutely terrified of coming out. Thanks again. The 19th should be very interesting.

I don't think so. I don't think that DA would agree to hold anything back in exchange for a plea.

He doesn’t actually SIGN the agreement until Nov. 19, right? Although I’d be shocked if he changes his mind.
I don't think anything at all would shock me about this case anymore.

I doubt any of the people you mentioned will feel any shame at all. They are a nasty hardhearted bunch.

I look forward to what the Judge has to say to CW. I also hope SW's brother Frankie speaks.

My thoughts are he's not going to change his mind. If he goes to trial, it will all come out, not only the details of the murders, but also things that expose him as a complete fraud. JMO.

I doubt it, too but what if he does? Won’t that be a powder keg?

Is the hearing for the autopsy release before or after the sentencing? (same day)

Are there rules as to what one can and can’t say or do during a victim impact statement? (e.g. cussing, standing in front of defendant, time limit, etc.)?

They don't allow cussing. And they do have to stand where told. At a podium or in a certain spot.

I’m not sure about what CW might have said to convince Shanann that he wanted to have another baby. Obviously, he didn’t. It struck me as unusual how many people she told that CW wanted this baby more than she did. I think in healthy relationships both partners should want the baby equally. I think Shanann loved him so much she wanted him to want and love their family as much as she did. It made her feel good to think that he loved her that much and to tell people he did. It was probably all unconscious, but I think deep down Shanann knew he was cheating because she told her friends, but wasn’t ready to let in the pain of the truth sink in, and it hadn’t become conscious, yet. She was proud and it made her feel good to think that he loved her that much. CW didn’t deserve her beautiful love.

I expect those people who wanted to believe CW’s story are feeling quite bad about it now as I know I would. Hopefully it’s a lesson learned for them and they will be able to spot a family inialator (hope I spelt that right) when they see one, god forbid this kind of thing doesn’t ever happen to anyone again ! I think also because these types of murders are quite rare, some people just cannot or refuse to believe a man would murder his family , a seemingly on the surface normal looking man.

I don't know. I would hope they'd feel bad. But are you seeing what they're saying elsewhere on the internet about this? Many still believe SW is evil. Destroying him from the grave. She's still guilty. He just pled because he was forced to by an inept defense. And because he knew he would get life anyhow (b.s.), and he's sparing her name or some sort of nonsense.

I listened to the NG podcast this morning.... kind of wish I hadn’t, only because she played Bella singing “My Daddy Is My Hero”, not once but twice. When this case first broke, that song played over & over in my head, in her precious little voice, for weeks! Drove me crazy. It had finally gotten out of my head until today . I wish like crazy, that when CW gets to his next cell after sentencing, & it’s lights out time, that recording of Bella singing that song would get played and gently creep into his dark cell & play gently all night long, every night, for the rest of his life! Wishful thinking, I know!

Hardhearted? Seems IMO like that might be devil's advocate, forgetting whom they're advocating for. Common these days, again IMO.

Thank you. Interesting, as I myself had wondered the same thing. [did CW get punked?] They didn't have actual leverage once you know that the death penalty was unlikely to be carried out and the family didn't want it anyway.

His attorneys wouldn't have gotten punked though. They know the drill. I didn't listen. Is that what he's saying? CW was fooled into pleading for fear of the death penalty?
