The DA's office indicated the autopsies would be released following the sentencing. The civil case will be closed in that event. I'll see if I can find the press release.

Yes that's the gist of it. That this came too soon, why the rush, why not at least wait until some kind of hearing or another..I'd have to play it again to be certain of his full point. Some of it goes over my head not having legal training. I suppose to avoid CW coming back later and claiming he had ineffective representation.

Scott Reisch said that on the 19th CW could say he’s had a change of heart, he wants to withdraw his guilty plea, his attorneys rushed him into it, it wasn’t a full voluntary decision, even though he said it on record, to please disregard that. Why does this criminal defense attorney say that could happen? Not likely, but it’s possible.

I was under the impression that the sentencing hearing was to hear CW plead guilty to the nine counts so he then cannot at a later date say, hey, I’ve changed my mind. Inadequate counsel, etc.

Why would he say it? Because it's within the realm of possibility, but so is end of the world tomorrow. He doesn't know all of the details of this case, and quite honestly, he gets a lot more clicks on his account with a headline like the one he used. Mr. Watts' PD's are well-aware of the laws surrounding plea deals, as are the DA and his staff, and judge; the plea was sought at his request, as has been confirmed, and while he didn't get what he was going for since the DA refused their initial terms, he accepted what was offered. Mr. Watts would be one hiding information, not his representatives or the State.

In a nutshell, he said the fact is there is no death penalty in Colorado and the newly elected Gov. says he does not believe in it ever , so the threat of the death penalty being held as leverage for a guilty plea was bogus. He said he was "shocked" that in just a few weeks they had decided on this course of action without even finding out what evidence will be used against him or " exploring other theories". (I don't think I want to know what that means).

The hearing was scheduled for 12/21/2018 9:00 am, Div 4, but one of the Assistant DA's said the reports would be released following the sentencing hearing.

"In an email sent Tuesday, Assistant Weld County Attorney Karin McDougal said the county would release the autopsy reports no more than 24 hours after the sentencing hearing is complete Nov. 19."

If I could do one thing for Shanann's family and friends, I would delete every outrageous, slanderous, and baseless accusation made against her, so many times couched with the caveat of "exploring other possibilities" or "I'm on the fence." Imagine losing your only daughter, your two precious granddaughters, your expectant grandson, and having to read a bunch of psycho-babble about her closet, some spray bottle fun and a Santa Claus video. Where is the outrage for someone who crammed the bodies of his beautiful 3 and 4-year-old toddlers into oil tanks?! Where is the disgust for someone who admittedly strangled his wife and unborn son to death and hid them out in the dirt to rot?! Instead, these apologists chose to attack everything from her parenting to how many pairs of shoes she owned.

I can’t even imagine the pain from the enormous loss this family has suffered, much less how they have endured the despicable behavior of people on the internet who never even knew Shanann or her family. These people are appalling. I know CW’s cult-following, fan club, or whatever you want to call “it” is not a first. I mean heck, Charles Manson, Ted Bundy and Richard Ramirez all married after being convicted. There are some sick people in this world. MOO, JMO, IMO

Agree with you on everything. It should already be obvious to everyone what a true monster CW really is and the details coming out on the 19th will only make his apologists look even more ridiculous. It's too bad for the apologists that other family annihilators' wives didn't have facebook videos so they could malign them as well. But ultimately the people who knew and loved Shanann know who she really was and that's really all that matters. JMO

I want to hear the family victim statement.
This surely will make it clear, to all, CW included, what this crime has accomplished.
Those out there, whose behaviour on the internet, going in 'in cognito', was as you state, despicable will hear these statements clearly.

Justice has worked here already for CW, with more to come.
I believe Karma will continue in this case, for a long time, for those involved.

It was surprising but there's something his counsel knows the DA has that he didn't want to ever see the light of day in terms of having to publically confront it. I wonder how many murder cases this attorney has handled?

I was shocked too. The only thing I think it speaks to is the evidence CW is aware would come out in the public and dramatic spectacle of trial. I mean discovery hasn't even happened yet to my knowledge. It could have but it usually doesn't happen that fast. Usually at or after arriagnment from what I've seen in CA and what I found in the CO rules of criminal procedure.

But he would know what an affair partner might say. Or what internet searches he did. Or what text messages are out there. The general condition of the bodies (he would have seen photos now too).

Maybe it's just deep fear of all that coming out in narrative fashion at trial, as he's forced to sit there and his family is in the audience?

I mean that is very competent defense counsel he has. There's no way they would rush into anything. And they would fully explain every facet of the reality of the death penalty in CO.

Also, SW's family made comments indicative of their anti-death penalty stance prior to this. And no decision had been stated as to whether the state was seeking it or not.

I do feel this was led by CW but not without a ton of intelligent counsel by his defense team.

I'm eager to find out what other evidence is out there.

He has already moved on to the Dallas police officer who shot a man that she thought was in her apt. (He was in his own apt, different floor to hers).

Well he is going to be responsible for funeral expenses and any future expenses (counseling?) to SW family, so maybe they can garnish his account.

I don’t think it was totally click bait because it’s what Mr. Reisch believes as a Colorado Criminal Defense Attorney. He also stated that even following the sentencing and once CW is in prison, he can file a 35C which basically alleges that his attorneys were ineffective and he should be allowed to have a trial. He can continue to try to get a trial for decades to come.

As far as the agreement that all the evidence can be destroyed, Mr. Reisch said that he has to keep all homicide or sexual assault files forever on any case where a life sentence was imposed. So that’s weird to agree to that.

This is a tragic case, of course, but it’s also a fascinating one to me. I’m not personally invested in it. My interest is the same as any other murder case that I find myself drawn to. I still read everything new I can find on Jack the Ripper or that horrible Dennis Radner.

He said that there was virtually no chance of getting a death sentence in CO and, all u need is one juror to make it lwop. Also said cw was "punked" because a trial would have given him the opportunity to focus on sw video posts. Seemed to think there was a lot in the videos to cast doubt on cw being murderer. Was pretty negative on destruction of evidence, per the plea agreement. He said a lot more.
