Breaking their silence publicly. They were never silent.

I'm not so sure that his mom really wants to see it proved in court that he murdered Bella and Celeste, because I think the DA can do that and it won't be pretty. That's also what CW is trying avoid, IMO, having that proven in court, especially in front of his parents.

Ha! I don’t know. Some parents aren’t able to believe that their child is capable of such horrors.

It’s easier to live in denial, than accept the grotesque truth.
True. But I know with my kids, there would be like a lightbulb moment when I knew, what they were saying wasn't the truth. Surely, when the evidence is released, something will let them know the truth. One of them, at least. I doubt his mother will ever admit it because I believe she hated Shan ann and will blame her until the end.

I do find it interesting that he was able to actually come up with a reason that jibed with his ridiculous story.

Judging by what is recapped in the interview write up, his parents still believe his lies.

People here and on other social media platforms offered this as a reason for why the bodies weren't together. I think someone on his side took the idea from there and offered it to him as a plausible explanation. I don't think he came up with it on his own.

He took this plea for his benefit, no one else. It would be great to believe he did it out of some sense of responsibility, even to protect his AP from having to endure trial, but people who commit these type of atrocities don't have it in them to think of anyone but themself.

Mom is very upset, like mad as a wet hen, so to speak. She didn't like being shut down by the attorney when she was telling him not to do this (the plea) if he wasn't guilty. She doesn't seem to understand they were being monitored and recorded. The news channel also spoke with an attorney who says it's very unlikely that he can successfully get out of the Plea Agreement at this point.

Agree. I think it is going to be very hard for him to get out of the plea agreement. I read about it, and I'm not an attorney, but it's not like he just say "my mom told me that I needed to get out of this agreement".

CW is a grown man. He made his own decisions. As a mother, I can understand wanting to "fight" for your son, she also needs to respect his decision to take the plea. It seems like she's going over his head now, or behind his back, and I really don't agree with that. Accepting the plea and saving everyone from an expensive, brutal trial is the only decent thing he has done since I became aware of his existence. IMO
I agree about fighting for her child. That's a mothers instinct. I'm wondering at what point, as a grandmother does she decide that those babies deserve a voice.

I agree. He has the evidence or CW never would have pled guilty to those murders. JMO

Yep - he doesn't want to go to trial and sit through the evidence. It will be embarrassing and uncomfortable.

Even as a parent I think I would realize that he doesn't want to tell his parents that he killed them all. They disliked SW, so admitting to killing her after the events he fabricated is one thing, but admitting to killing the girls is something he is never going to want to admit to their faces. He's admitted it via the Plea Agreement and they can't accept it. I noted that none of the attorneys involved Denver 7 reached out to would even respond to them. They badly need independent counsel to explain to them how the law works, why she was shut down, etcetera, because they don't have a grasp on it and the people they think should give them answers aren't in a position to do so. They are never going to have private time with CW again, no matter how much they want it, and I'm guessing that's a relief for him because he's not up for telling them the truth beyond them learning to adjust to it via events.

Has this been posted? Sorry, not caught up today!

I hope I can say this without getting in trouble. I believe since they went public and are still trying to cast doubt on SW, it should be allowed. I find it suspicious and very telling that they are just now going public. Months later, saying they are devastated by the loss of their grandchildren and DIL, mean a lot less than it would have right after their deaths. JMO I would have thought a lot more of them had they released a statement saying that they were devastated by the deaths of their DIL and grandchildren right after it happened. Even had they said they believed in his innocence.JMO

I think CW's parents' reaction is what I would expect. I have no doubt they are devastated and bewildered. If I was the mother of a murderer, especially a child murderer, I would feel that something I had or hadn't done had made them capable of this.
Mrs Watts says her son "is not a sociopath or a psychopath". I think what the evidence shows increasingly is that even people who commit heinous crimes may maintain ostensibly normal and warm relationships with other people - people who support them and are not in the way of what they want. Different faces are shown to different people.

And I think it's understandable that they will seek any explanation that will help to mitigate their son's guilt, cover-up, lawyer shenanigans, Shannan's fault, some ""trigger" that explains it all, rather than the small, nasty truth that their son was prepared to murder their grandchildren and his pregnant wife so he could enjoy himself. The banality of evil yet again.
And I think CW is more than happy to let them carry on in their efforts.

A couple months ago, I joked that CW could literally admit that he killed his entire family, and there would be people out there who still believed in his innocence.

At the time, I was being completely facetious.

I am now convinced that no amount of evidence will ever win these people over.

This idea expressed by his parents that he took the plea for altruistic reasons, is beyond absurd.

I watched it but could get any sound. What was the point of showing his pics?
Parents trying to humanize. The thing is by their own admission, CW has completely shut them out. He has refused to talk about the case with them. They know as much about the case as we do in terms of evidence and any secrets CW might still have. I think they will learn along with the rest of us what only CW and the State know right now soon enough. IMO

I got quite pizzed off when the newsman asked them "was he leaving her, or was she leaving him?" and they shot back "He was leaving HER" (like they were pleased, he was justified) then dad said "he wasn't in love with her no more". Well a big fat so WHAT! He has 3 kids with her - guess what, it's not all about YOU anymore .
The selfishness stuns me and I can see they would have enabled/ encouraged it.
