Are CW's parents considered victims or did I miss something? No snark intended this is an honest question.

They are victims, but they are making comments that can be discussed. Some of their statements are shocking and are not victim-friendly statements. Those can be discussed. Also, Shan'ann's family has issued a response to CW's parents and that statement may be discussed.

I just don't completely believe he came up with this on his own though. That would take an incredible amount of sincere, albeit messed up, emotion on his part to say that/be the reason he did that. I just don't think he is smart enough to come up with things like that on his own. MOO IMO
So who do you think did?

After seeing these interviews now I’m really wondering who came up with the “SW did it” scenario after that father-son talk at the police station.
who do you think it was?

If CW was unhappy with his life, for whatever reason, he didn’t have to stay with Shan’ann and the children. He could have separated and ultimately divorced her in order to start a new life with another person, or alternatively, remain single so he had no responsibilities other than child support such as the costs of day care, health insurance, medical or other expenses.

Life is all about choices. He chose to have at least one affair and possibly others. The worst choice of all was to murder SW, Bella, CeCe and Nico. This destroyed not only their lives, his own life, but in doing so he forever changed the lives of both families.

This reminds me of a Cherokee legend - Two Wolves

An old Cherokee was teaching his grandson about life.

"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.

"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

"The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
I like it. Bravo!

Ugh. When I said a few days back that I didn’t trust his parents and that all they care about is saving CW’s butt, I had no idea how bad they would be. I am horrified. This is absolutely uncalled for.

Ok - thanks for clarifying. I've been keeping up to date on the latest info, but I wasn't sure if CW's parents were still considered victims or not and wanted to be sure.

I don't believe it would be acceptable to speculate on that.
But inference seems to be allowed? That doesn't seem fair to me. CW has admitted guilt, he hasn't alluded to assistance by a 3rd party and he will spend the rest of his life in prison. We should leave it there.

We've spent a considerable amount of time here discussing why CW didn't just leave SW instead of killing her & his children. After actually hearing his mother's voice I finally came to somewhat of a conclusion in my mind. Mrs. W is a controlling, overbearing woman. I'm now wondering if Mrs. W had expressed to CW that she didn't want him to marry SW. Maybe she has been chirping in his ear every chance she's gotten over the years that he should leave SW. I'm thinking there is a certain part of CW that doesn't want this narcissistic shrew to be right, because on some level I think he resents her, but doesn't/hasn't ever had the guts to stand up to her. This would create quite a dilemma for a person like CW. Doesn't want mom to be "right", but has no idea how to get out of the situation. I think he was "torn" to some degree, as much as a selfish person could be, between letting his mother be right & doing something else. I imagine he may have thought even if he left SW, the way he did it would never suit his mother, plus it would leave him wide open for her to rule a whole new chapter of his life. So in some twisted sense I think it's possible it was easier for him to erase his sweet little family & let the chips fall where they may. JMO MOO

Yes, it's ok to infer that the idea didn't come from CW. IMO.

You know what I heard in my head after I read your comment..one of those gameshow buzzers that sounds when they give the wrong answer. It's true. :D
That’s funny, I always hear the Jeopardy tune when I’m posting my thoughts.

I am not making any specific comment on CW's psychopathic/narcisstic nature, as I am not qualified and we lack info.

But in my dealings with such a person it was interesting to discover their relationship with their mother was a complete mess of manipulation and lying. So I would not want to jump to conclusions here. The mother may be a long term victim of this guy.
And vice versa.

All sorts of true colors coming out...

Exclusive: Parents of Chris Watts speak out after his murder plea deal

I was getting confused with the different interviews. I thought they were all the same.

WOW. His parents are vile. To degrade their daughter in law. Murdered by their son. And never even express any emotion for their grandchildren.

As if Shannan’s parents need more grief.

Shanann's parents, Frank and Sandra Rzucek, issued the following statement about their daughter's relationship with Chris:

Shannan Watts was a faithful wife, and the most gentle and loving mother in the world to her children Bella, Celeste, and Nico. She was also the best daughter any parent could ever hope for. Shanann was a wonderful soul.

Everyone who knew Shanann knows this to be true. Even Chris Watts knows this to be true. Yet Chris Watts still chose to murder Shanann, Bella, Celeste, and Nico. Chris Watts still chose to dump the bodies of his own family in oil tanks. And Chris Watts still chose to lie about it until he could lie no more. He pled guilty to murdering his family because he is guilty.

Monday evening, the parents of Chris Watts gave an interview in which they attempted to defend their son. In doing so, they felt the need to make vicious, grotesque and utterly false statements about Shanann. Their false statements, however hurtful and inaccurate, will never alter the truth about Shanann, and will never alter the truth about the crimes committed by their son, Chris Watts.

Shanann's memory and reputation deserves to be protected. And her family is fully prepared to do so. “

Bless their hearts.

The proof is in the pudding. Look at the way they treated CW. And his family. They said that CW's family are "good people" and should be treated nicely.

They knew some of them didn't attend the wedding yet SW clearly never spoke badly about her inlaws to her own family. And if she was such a nasty person as they claim
She would have.

And they've treated CW who took everything from them better than CW's parents treated SW who had everything taken from her.

We can see who CW is by looking at his family. Likewise with Shanann.

Wow, smh, the lack of grief for their grandchildren. I understand not being able to wrap your head around your son killing his whole family but to express it this way is just sad and deepening the wound of this horrid case even more.

Smacks of enmeshment. Their his kids. He can do what he wants with them. They're an extension of him.

Also, appearances are more important than lives.
