And apparently her giving them two beautiful grandchildren didn't soften the attitude. Sickening.

She probably felt even more threatened/replaced, especially as they were girls (and Shannan’s at that). She’s clearly the narcissist I assumed she was but I’m actually shocked at just how personality disordered she appears to be. Most people would have the good sense to at least pretend to have liked Shannan...or at least not rant about her.
I’m not even joking when I say if one of my girls dates a guy with a mother like this I’m taking it as a HUGE red flag and doing anything I can to destroy that relationship. I don’t need nor want to be sleuthing my own kid’s murder.

I totally agree with this- but if CW, the client, tells the lawyer not to tell his oarents anything ..... isn’t the lawyer then legally obligated to not tell them?
I hope his attorneys are legally required to tell CW what his parents are saying, and maybe they can figure something out that might satisfy them.

Wow, that second article really seems to mirror her sons interviews. It's all about her; "I cry in the morning. I cry in the afternoon, I cry when someone gives me a hug. I just want to know what triggered it." She mentions several times she wants to find out what the trigger was ( what Shanann did to cause him to lose control) how she thinks she is more capable of this than her son. Then says he is not capable of it at all. Not one word about her grandchildren. Then she states that someone needs to do something to help him. A call to arms maybe? This is really adding fuel to the fire for his supporters. I wonder what they are saying now. No wonder his legal team kept her away from him. She is toxic. Imo
Did you watch the video in that article? It has been updated since last night. Supposedly CW's sister has a letter that says if anything ever happens to him, to look at Shanann. Also, the reporter confirms that CW's family didn't attend his and Shanann's wedding. Near the end of the video. MOO

Denial...is that a river in Egypt? So not in touch with reality. If Ma and Pa Watts don't want wittle CW to take a plea, they should pony up the bucks, and find an attorney, not a public defender, who would be more than willing to defend poor wittle CW...at $350 plus an hour. For months.

Why did CW take the plea deal? I have a couple of thoughts but am curious what others think.
Because he knew he didn't have a chance and wants to spare himself the humiliation of all the damning evidence that will be presented in a long, drawn out trial. Imo

You took the words out of my mouth! Same in our family. The grandkids are everything. In fact we always joke how no one loves us anymore as everytime they come around its all about the kids.

To her, it seems all about her son. I get that given hes facing life in prison, but as you said there is absolutely no discussion on their grandkids, the pain they are feeling about them and the pain SW's family must be feeling...as regardless of what they believe, those kids were innocent. IMO, the lack of this talk shows the level of enmeshment between CW and his mother. He is her so to speak
THIS!! I'm back from work and you so eloquently put into words what bothered me all day today about "the interview" Grandchildren! I want to say I'm astounded about the situation but really based on my own experiences I'm not. I would think losing your grandchildren would make you reach out to the other set of grandparents. I mean that is to me just a natural thing. But to be only concerned about your son who did kill his wife and may or may not have killed your grandchildren?? How sad.

No it’s not the way to go about this, but they’re striking me as uneducated and not very sophisticated in these matters. They’re desperate.

Maybe unsophisticated but I know many uneducated people who don't have a college degree, or even a GED, and they still wouldn't stoop to publicly shaming the dead.

Can someone explain why the Denver media blurred out the parents' faces after not blurring them out, but the article linked above shows the mother's face? I'm confused, but I've missed a lot of posts (lots of breaking news on the forum today).

I've never seen that blurring done unless it was a victim of sexual assault or an undercover cop or someone who really needs their identity kept secret.
I believe only the NC broadcasts were masked (faces blurred) at the request of the Watts. If Denver media is now playing their NC affiliates piece, they would honor the terms of their affiliate. As far as I saw last night, no Denver interviews were masked.

Sometimes disliking one's daughter in law can effect the bond with the grand children. I have a friend whose own mother has little to do with her brother's children and heaps attention upon my friend's kids. She isn't blind to it luckily and loves her brother, his wife and children but is dumbfounded by her mother's behaviour. I've met the lady and she's a force to be reckoned with. yikes!

And yet Shanann is the one who is dead.

It’s awful. But there’s a video out of CW, SW, BW, CW and CW’s parents all hanging out together in CO. Who knows what really happened?

Wow - that video in the second interview. After the newscasters show the clip of CW parents, they talk more about the case and say there is a "letter" that CW wrote to his sister at some point and said, "If anything happens to me, look at my wife," and that the family says that proves Shanann was unstable. That is the first I have read/seen of this "letter." Have we discussed that at all here? (49 threads I may have missed!!)

ETA more detail: This is also the video where the reporter asks, "What happened to this kid from Pine Forest High School?" showing an innocent picture of CW. And his mother says, "What happened? He met Shanann."

The newscaster also says in the clip, that the Watts family felt that "Shanann was dangerous and that they didn't even go to the couple's wedding."
Really? A letter? More revision of history.

Same. Thanks to the strong level of hatred there, my father-in-law refuses to acknowledge the existence of mine and my husband's kids.

I don't get it. If something happened to my kids and I had something to do with it, my mother would disown me. Once the grandkids came alone they took center stage. And I am perfectly fine with that.

I just noticed the same thing. Didn't realize until now that the video was updated. Going back to give it another listen. MOO

OMG! No I didn't watch it yet! I prefer to read than listen but I will watch it. Very curious about the letter. I wonder if it's real or was written by someone else, kind of like in the Jodi Arias case. This is crazy. Why couldn't they just keep their mouths shut? Its over! Or at least I hope it is.

Wow, I missed one day and apparently missed a whole thread. What has the Watts family done now?! Mom went on t.v and bashed her daughter in law? Said she could never do anything right in Shananns eyes and that she was abusive to her son? Am I getting this right? Now all the victim bashing makes sense. It's obvious what the source was that fueled the fire! These people are pathetic! She just has to get in the last word. And there is more to come?
You got it, (so I'd also say you didn't miss a thing)!

Pretty much. The parents are their own worst enemies. They are making fools of themselves and destroying most of the sympathy people had for them. They need to stop talking now. But I think they are just getting started.
Yes...... I dread to hear what they said in the live interview with CO local 9News that is supposed to air tonight at 9:00pm MT. Will this be the first face to face interview? The only others I’ve seen since yesterday when they went public were via Skype/FB. Makes me nervous!

Wow you are right! This was new from what was posted before. Now she is saying that the defense destroyed the letter possibly. And she says Shannan was dangerous and when asked what happened to the sweet boy from high school the mom says “shannan happened”! Wow!

Why would they be required to pass along those performances? That's probably why he didnt want to see them in the first place.
