Completely understand doing that, and makes complete sense....post now edited to disregard my personal account.

Will say though that with how this has all played out CW likely didn’t intend those funds for that....MOO

The funeral costs, final medical bills, and all associated fees for our son's death sent us into financial ruin. 8 years later, we are still receiving bills. When your child dies, the first thought that goes through your head shouldn't be, "How will we pay for this?" But for many parents, including us, it was. A lot of insurance policies for kids have cash value, which means when they turn 18 they get a nice little sum of $3,000-10,000. I wish we'd had life insurance in the past; now we do for our living kids.

With that said, I can see CW doing something like this partly for the money. Even a small amount. Still, it would have been a long time before he ever saw it.

There's a lot of totally bogus info out there about NK, like her being the boss's daughter and her 'rich' father paying TB to take the heat off her.
And it is bogus along with a lot of other mean spirited information going around. Let's not jump on the bandwagon.

Thank you for your honest account. I am based in the uk so medical bills wasn’t a consideration. I will say that my mother took it out for us kids when given the option but she’s more practical and my dads more emotional in terms of their thinking.

Their lowest moment of many lows is when they were casually discussing and even giggling about what SW must have thought, after being so "controlling" of CW, when he was strangling her. How she must have been shocked, and they found that funny. Still sickens me. I do not support them - I have just been curious about their sources. I will quickly forget them when this case is over. IMO

WHAT?!?!

Ok it's one thing to pretend to play devil's advocate. It's another to find humor and experience pleasure when imagining someone's death. @#$%&*. I wish Facebook would shut them down too.

Gitana1, do you think this is a deliberate legal maneuver by the Watts, a loophole if you will, to allow the mother to speak at the plea hearing/sentencing? Crime victims/victim family members are typically allowed the opportunity to be heard. Defendant's mothers typically are not. Do you feel like formally designating themselves as victims of the crime gives an intentional "technicality" that allows them to voice what they would not otherwise be able to do?

I know you have no way of knowing their true intentions, I just wondered if you think this is a deliberate, "clever" legal move (for lack of a better term). The fact that they (attempted) asked for an attorney to represent them makes me think it's more formal than a mourning grandmother's heartfelt, genuine statement reflecting on the loss of the victims. But I am out of my league here - just trying to make sense of it.

You know I don't know. But it appears the judge is viewing them as statutory victims with all the rights they have which includes being able to speak at sentencing.

To me I kind of thought they were seeking the right to be more involved. But I'm not sure and I don't know how.

I will ask my law partner, who does criminal law.

I have a feeling that if CW ever, ever thought of suicide, this weekend would be the time. All (or more than he would want) of his own, personal dirty laundry will be hung out there for the WORLD to see. And, he finally realizes the WORLD has taken notice. Of course, I believe he is too much of a coward to harm himself. MOO.

And inferring his body language was off and that he was more upset than Mrs Thayer even though she was SW's friend..

They also said he was questioned longer by police...

ETA - they are awful to listen to and I find myself skipping a lot but am thinking of the info they have been given might be true and curiosity wins..

He spent time with the dude and considered him a friend. He was betrayed.

Oh I have no doubt that you are correct. I doubt I would have thought about the need to be prepared to bury my children, if I hadn't lost so many family members.

Depending on your health insurance plan, as well as your deductible, health insurance may not cover everything at the end. Life insurance can fill in the gaps. Total, we spent around $20,000 out of pocket.

Life insurance is a very practical thing to have. Since I am unable to give CW a pass on anything right now, though, I can't give him one for this either. :)

I'm working on a new thread. This one will close in about 10 minutes.

Do we know if Chris was just generally closer to his father? Per the interview it was his dad he wanted to fly to CO when Shanann, Bella and Celeste were missing.

Or was it more that he knew his mother would react how she has been in the interviews and would ask too many questions that he wasn’t prepared to answer?

(Along the same lines, today the FBI even had to comment on this phenomenon as regards to the Amber Alert of a 13 year old child. That’s how ridiculous it’s getting and LE isn’t standing for it.

From today:
)
Hi Magz. I saw that. It has to be exasperating to LE when they have to take investigative resources away from finding a missing child to follow up on leads that result from absurd speculation by people like the podcasters in this case. Do they really need to be reminded that she is a real human being? They ought to be ashamed of themselves. MOO

They were trying to be supportive without judgement at first. They were being good neighbors and friends, giving CW the benefit of a doubt. Once they felt something was off, they contacted LE. Now they are being picked apart by attention hungry "tabloid" podcasters. This is so wrong. IMO
Yes it is. I have nearly run out of adjectives for these people! MOO

I haven't posted in awhile because this case got to me. It's one of those like I retired from where you would say to yourself "Please don't tell me he/she really did this/that" only to find out they did and multiplied it by 10. So it was almost with an open mind that I listened to Mama's interview. Certainly she would know why CW did the inconceivable. Instead, what *I* heard was a confused, still in shock unbelieving mother and grandmother who seemed so sure she had raised her son right. We moms always want to believe that we have done our best, especially if something goes so wrong.
I'm not here to judge her. She did her best. But what I did hear was her verbally questioning all angles...her maybe this, maybe thats. I don't think this marriage was perfect even though SW made it seem that way. Creating a false perfect world is expensive and hard work. From what I heard Mama say, SW insisted on this lifestyle. Is that victim blaming? No....but it's stressful! Keeping up with the Jones is living a lie. Lies get more and more complicated. The affair put his life back at a less complicated time....or at least he thought so.
Mama said she had "gone there", thinking what if he did kill the girls. But it was too much for her because he loved them too much. I just really watched her dip a toe into one unspeakable topic after another, trying it on, then clinging to the (to her) more safe thoughts that maybe SW did kill the girls, and in turn, CW killed her. But what I really did hear loud and clear was she wanted HER SON to tell her the truth to her face. Not uncommon for us mothers of sensitive boys. Also not uncommon is the unconditional love you have of your child who showed no signs of being a sociopath then ZAP! They become someone you don't know or maybe never did. George Anthony is this way. He knows the whole story. He'll never talk to Casey again. But never once has he said he hated her. Cindy is still wondering around where CW's mother is now.
I can't fault any of these parents whose shoes I don't ever want to wear. In the past, sometimes a family was so screamingly dysfunctional, all you could say to yourself, "Oh....I see now..." But in the cases where from all indications, everyone has clear records and are "normal" yet the crime of which they are accused is so bizarre, so sick, so very over the top and twisted, these are the hard ones for all involved to wrap their heads around. CW knows what he did, knows he will kill his parents if he admits to them what he did and can't live with the guilt of having to look at them. Bad thing about it, he may never tell them. It's sad.....but Mama? He took the easy way out because now he never has to talk about kids, grandkids or a wife ever again. While you grieve and your heart is breaking, he has just closed his eyes on everyone and his crime.
Only MHO
What she is doing is causing more pain and suffering to people who already have suffered too much. Did you read the Rzucek’s rebuttal statement to her first interview? CW is not the innocent little boy she claims he is. He manipulated and lied to everyone he knows, and he got caught. She keeps asking why did CW tell his father SW killed the children? CW lied! That’s why! She wants to hear it from him. She can’t hear it from him! He can’t discuss the case with anyone! He’s facing the death Penalty! She has been told this numerous times! The evidence is out there if she will open her eyes and listen to what is being told to her, but she would rather blame anyone else she can think of than face the obvious. No, I don’t feel sorry for her because she’s said things like Shanann is more capable of committing murder than Christopher. You don’t say things like that about people without some kind of fact to back it up, and she has no facts.

Also, it was stated on Nancy a Grace that SW made $80,000 per year, so where did you get your information that they were living beyond their means?
