I think CW’s understanding of women, and personality or lack thereof, has been shaped by his mother who I believe has an authoritarian personality, e.g. hypercritical, prejudice, shaming behaviours, intrusiveness, hatred and a need to punish. MrsW has displayed these qualities in her interviews with the media. To release her vitriol on his pregnant deceased wife and blame her for the deaths of Bella and CeCe is absolutely abhorrent and repugnant to me.

A major role that parents play in a child's life is to socialize them to the values and expectations of their culture. How this is accomplished can vary dramatically based upon the amount of control they attempt to exert over their children. Even after he chose to plead guilty to all counts, she’s still trying to take control of his life and he’s 33 years old. She spent a lot of time talking about his high school days. Why? Because for her, those were the good old days when he was living at home and still under her thumb. Now that Shan’ann is no longer, she’s trying to reclaim that control.

Authoritarian parents set the rules and have a "my way or the highway" approach to discipline. There is little room for negotiation and they rarely allow their children to make their own choices. While parents with this style have high expectations and strict rules, they also do not give their children much freedom to demonstrate that they can display good behaviour and make good choices. Rather than letting their kids make decisions on their own and face the natural consequences for those choices, authoritarian parents hover over their kids in order to ensure that they don't make mistakes. This is MrsW to a T.

The children of authoritarian parents tend to exhibit these effects:

They may act fearful or overly shy around others;

Often have lower self-esteem;

Have difficulty in social situations due to a lack of social competence;

Tend to conform easily, yet may also suffer from depression and anxiety;

May struggle with self-control because they are rarely able to make choices and experience natural consequences.

Shan’ann was the antithesis of his mother. No wonder he love bombed her. He realised his life could be so much better with someone, anyone, other than his mother.

Hopefully he will clear up some things when he comes on Websleuths Radio to talk to @Tricia!

Is this really going to happen???

The only MRS I listened to was because one of SWs good friends called in to it. She is pretty active in the FB group. I just don't know how she can stand the negativity.

I've just got to re-watch the porch interviews knowing now that NK had been led to believe they were divorced. Just imagine the processes that were going through her mind that Tuesday as it all unfolded, with him saying the house was like a ghost town and he couldn't bear being there alone, and those dogs barking away behind him. Wonder if she was watching it live at work, or if she only saw it that evening on the news.

What a rude awakening.
"While at work Aug. 14, she texted Watts, pushing him to tell what he knew about their disappearance and asking what he had done. He told her he would never hurt his family, she said.
“It got to a point that he was telling me so many lies that I eventually told him that I did not want to speak to him again until his family was found,” she said."

NK basically broke up with him on Tuesday. I wonder if this happened before or after the interviews.

Found Scott Reisch's live youtube podcast today very informative for questions we have been asking here like appealing or withdrawing a plea, etc. Also, I did not know that the victims making statements in court Monday cannot address them to CW - they must be addressed to the judge only according to Reisch! He also points out the pitfalls to CW or his family trying to make a statement that he is less than 100% responsible or being railroaded into the guilty plea. Interesting. If you recall, he is the CO criminal defense attorney who has been commenting on this case for the past several weeks:

@Tricia spoke with Mr. Thayer and she said he is an incredibly nice man. He told her he is interested in speaking on Tricia’s show after the 19th. She is going to check with him after the sentencing to see if he would like to speak on her show.

He has obviously seen those Mrs W interviews too.

I'm thinking since he still at that point thought he was going to get away with it all...he likely kept up his talking points with the AP in mind regardless, thinking he might be able to win her back? He definitely never said he loved anyone and he also purposely did not mention Nico - just a verbal grunt in affirmation when a reporter mentioned her pregnancy.

The last video of Shan’ann and the girls. Filmed at her parents’ home in NC.

Thanks for this. What a monster. Poor girls.

Just click on the white text near the top of the video thumbnail and it will open the video in YouTube for you. Some videos are set by the authors to not play when embedded in other web sites. Hope that helps!

ETA: They were very upset about how they were portrayed in the Radar article as well.

Since the Radar article is not much different from what they said, I'm wondering if they are only mad because the report about the beating just made even more people think CW is guilty of murdering the girls.

It could be that, or they know that their source is dubious, and now their names are forever attached to this claim.

If it’s wrong, it will reflect badly on them come Monday.

This would be amazing! I have felt so badly for the Thayers all this time as well, and they've (along with NAU) been dragged through mud from the beginning.

I would think the easiest way of killing all members is by medication: drugged them all, so they died.
Then CW does not have to look at them, while murdering them.
This perhaps would be easiest to stomach by the public, instead of brutally beating, strangling, suffocating.
MOO.

I wonder if bruises were caused by the handling of Shanann's body after she died and not by a beating. There wwould have been more evidence of a struggle and/or brutal beating in the house I would think.think

A bruise can only be inflicted before death.

Regardless, I’m waiting until the autopsy results are released.

I have no faith in these podcasters or their sources.

Scott Reisch made the following points re the victim impact statements:

The parents won’t be allowed to speak directly to CW. If for some reason they’re making their statements and they start looking or speaking directly to him, the Judge will stop them and say, “You need to address your statements to me”.

If his family wants to do it, they need to be careful what they wish for. They may not be doing anyone any favours if they get up there and say, “He’s been railroaded. He didn’t understand. He didn’t know”. If CW’s not the one personally making that statement it could really backfire.
