Scott Reisch also said WTTE:

During the mitigation phase, if there is one, and CW stands up and says, “I didn’t do this. I pled guilty. They forced me to do it” etc., that won’t carry a lot of weight with the judge and all of a sudden those sentences that could be run concurrently will probably get maxed and they will run consecutively. At that point, if he’s going to go forward with it, he should probably keep his mouth shut or simply apologise and say, “I accept full responsibility. I’m a horrible human being” and head off to prison.

Scott Reisch made the following points re the victim impact statements:

The parents won’t be allowed to speak directly to CW. If for some reason they’re making their statements and they start looking or speaking directly to him, the Judge will stop them and say, “You need to address your statements to me”.

If his family wants to do it, they need to be careful what they wish for. They may not be doing anyone any favours if they get up there and say, “He’s been railroaded. He didn’t understand. He didn’t know”. If CW’s not the one personally making that statement it could really backfire.
Thank you. I listened, too. I was under the impression that CW could not make those points, either, if he cares about those aspects of his sentencing the judge has control over. Reisch said CW should accept full responsibility or keep his mouth shut. This is in regard to the statement he is allowed to make for sentencing.

Thanks for this. What a monster. Poor girls.
Sad. Hard to watch. If only she knew rain and fire was the least of her worries and that the real fear unknown to her and her babies was her evil beast monster husband who was secretly lying in wait for the right time to snuff them all out. Chilling video to say the least.

I have often wondered why CW and his father went to the police station that day.
Had LE asked him to come and be interviewed?

Unfortunately I think the details in the Radar Online article are accurate it doesn’t seem made up to me. It is very difficult to think of what Shan’ann and the girls went through. I have no doubt Shan’ann fought for her life. It is also distressing to read of the little girls being referred to as combustible.

I will be thinking of Shan’ann’s family as they endure an extremely difficult and emotional day on Monday.

I learned in the past few days that he had been interviewed for several (maybe six?) hours that day before going to the airport to pick up his dad and then they returned to the police station together before he was interviewed some more.

Just about to call it a night, but I can try to find the source of that information tomorrow. I think it was something that I read online, so maybe and article from Denver Post or similar local newspaper.

Yes, that is my understanding. For more questioning. This is according to the long form Cindy interview.

It would be very interesting to know what he told his father about the disappearance of his family in the car, wouldn't it?

I’d love to know, but I think there’s a good chance we never will.

That’s the only downside of not having a trial, we tend to learn quite a bit from people who are called to the stand.

I would love to see every minute of those interviews too.

I didn't think that we ever would, but we can imagine.

On Aug. 13, only hours after he murdered Shan’ann and Nico, at least, he texted NK to say that he’d been busy. They chatted like normal throughout the day. At about 3:45 he texted that his family was “gone” and told her that Shan’ann had taken the girls to a play date and not returned. He was casual and showed no emotion.

This is beyond grotesque. Just another day in paradise for CW. He’d never have to suffer their intrusions into his fantasy world again.

Prison awaits him and his nightmare is just beginning. It will last till his dying breath and the world will be a better place without him.

3.45 pm or am?

As Monday is approaching, I am feeling much more emotional. I am so grateful to be a part of this group so I can process the events and information with all of you. I love the thoughtful posts and how it is moderated. This is a safe and honest place. Just sayin'.
This! Me too! It will be so hard keeping it together on Monday, but knowing he all are going through it and supporting each other helps so much!

Will CW have the opportunity to address Shan’ann’s family and the Court on Monday? I have always been surprised that is allowed by the court it would be far better to send him to jail for life without him being allowed to say anything. I personally am not interested in anything he has to say and believe it will only cause Shan’ann’s family even more distress.

He will have the opportunity, the question is if he will actually use it.

I am interested in seeing him speak, not because I really care about what he has to say, but because I am interested in gleaning any insight I can from people like him.

We’ll see if he does.

I cannot believe Monday is fast approaching. I am going to be so relieved to put this case to rest and can’t imagine how relieved Shan’ann’s Family and friends will ultimately be too, since I never even knew the victims.

I anticipate Chris Watts being revealed to be worse than most have been able to imagine, but so many people maintained that “we didn’t know anything” for months because we didn’t have “facts”—BUT-we knew how he portrayed things after they were missing and we did at least know that he tried to cover his tracks by hiding their bodies. We have had those facts-and anyone capable of carrying those things out is capable of worse things IMO.

I just want this monster to be locked away. This case has been extremely emotional for all of us. I really don't care what CW says or Mom Watts has to say. CW is a murderer and he has sealed his own fate.

Truly tragic on so many levels. I doubt I will be able to watch on Monday until later in the evening.
