My prediction for tomorrow is that nobody is going to have the nerve to victim bash tomorrow. I expect (and hope of course) that the focus will solely be on Shanann, Bella and CeCe as victims, and CW’s atrocious’ actions. Moo.
I still can't believe they ever had the nerve! MOO

Bianchi Law Talk:
Why People Murder: #ChristopherWatts is to be sentenced tomorrow for the murder of his pregnant wife and 3yo and 4yo daughters. The case has caught the nation's attention. I review my assessment from the vantage point of people I've prosecuted and defended for murder for the past 30 years. Are murders getting more senseless & violent? Let me know your thoughts! And, check the sentencing tomorrow on Law & Crime Network. I'll be hosting from 12-3pm! #ChrisWatts #crime #murder

How many Aussies will be with me in getting up tomorrow morning to watch the sentencing hearing? 4am Melbourne time.

I'm a Melbourneite.
Will be up, with my Coffees.
Early night tonight.
See you all then.:):)

Wow. That’s a really good point. If Cindy isn’t there, then I think the odds of CW addressing the court goes up exponentially.
I agree. I don't think he'd say anything in front of her - I really hope she isn't there.

I watched the sentencing hearing after Matthew Phelps pled guilty to stabbing his wife, Lauren Hugelmaier, 120 times and trying to blame it on cold medicine when he called 911. If CW says anything, I'd imagine it will ring hollow just as Phelps' statement did. I just can't imagine there's anything that CW could say that would bring any comfort to anyone.

Here's Phelps' statement for anyone interested:

It’s very interesting to read everyone’s thoughts on if CW will speak tomorrow. Great question @gitana1.

(As I said I expect a few mumbles “I’m sorry” and maybe even as admission of committing an unspeakable crime, but not much other than a few sentences at most.)

We will see!!

ETA:
He is likely a narcissist after all, so maybe he will choose to speak, but at this point I think he probably has so much shame, etc and he knows after his last interviews nobody is going to believe him anyway and no matter what he says they’re throwing away the key anyway, moo.

Surely he must know how much he is hated.

His lawyers maybe even wrote his statement out for him anyway.

I imagine it could go something like this:

“Nothing can ever take back what I have done and I accept the consequences of my actions.”

I imagine he will look at Shannan’s family and mumble “I’m sorry.”

He knows imo that there is really little he can say at this point.

He is coward.

I wonder if he will be balling like a baby this time, or show no emotion like he did in his interviews.

My question now is tears or no tears?

What did Scott Peterson do during his sentencing? (Sorry if already mentioned). Because you know he and SP might as well be twins.

He picked his Dad up in the morning and they went to the police station. Mom said five hours later, Ronnie got a call to come back. CW's arrest was 11:02 pm per the arrest affidavit. It sounds like he had legal representation when he made his confession, but it's a little hard to follow what Mom is saying.

If he was questioned for seven hours, it could have been Monday. I don't see how he could have squeezed that in on Tuesday with all those porch interviews. Or maybe seven hours is exaggerated? MOO
He basically was interrogated non-stop as soon as bodies were disposed of. NAU, NK, LE. They were relentless. Love them.

Haaaaaa. 4AM?! Now that’s some dedication!

This is the only case on here that I’ve ever been able to follow to a conclusion.

Instead of having a trial in order to answer some of the numerous questions we have, we should get those answers over the course of a few hours.

That’s incredibly rare. I wouldn’t miss this for the world.

A lot probably won't come out tomorrow. It may take awhile. Like interrogation videos.

Yeah. If he does speak, it will be entirely self serving. He’ll take almost no responsibility, and he won’t tell us exactly what happened.

BTK took us though all of his crimes when he spoke at his sentencing. CW won’t walk us through his, atleast in any detail.

It will be just as cold as his porch interviews, and any tears shed will be for him, and the life he has lost.

@Thepoet asked me last thread what the impact of victim impact statements have on sentencing.

IMO, the only impact they usually have when there's a plea deal is in the comments the court makes when handing down the sentence.

In other news, I might not be here during sentencing. I do have a brief hearing in the a.m.

Any bets on what the Watts parents will say I think their victim impact statements?

My predication at this point is they will talk about their own suffering as victims losing their grandkids. They are aware of all the comments put there I think and will try to redeem themselves by mentioning special things about Bella and CeCe and how much they love them.

They will talk mostly about how shocking this is. How their son has always been a good, decent person who dearly loved and provided for his children. They will talk about what a good family they have, or allude to it - "We are average people who love our kids, close family. There's never been a hint of trouble."

They will talk about how much they love CW and always will and maybe how they have to accept the plea but will never understand and because this isn't the son they know. So while they accept he has pled guilty they will always have questions and maybe even that they can't accept that he actually did what he pled to.

I have a feeling they won't mention Shanann much. They MIGHT say something kind about her family and their suffering. Like they pray for them and feel for them.

Because they've been advised I don't think they will cause a scene or blame Shanann. Not outright. But I have a feeling the implication that she's at fault or triggered the murders will be there but not implicitly said.

What do you all think?
Gitana you've been right so far so I think you could be right on this! Did you see the post that Mr. Watts will be attending the hearing? I wonder if that means Cindy won't be there?

No matter what they say, I truly hope they apologize to Shanann's family!

I will go with that the Watts will and have been forewarned to be careful in what they choose or have chosen to say or if they will even speak and maybe their lawyer will speak for them. They are aware of what has been said with their currant statements so far.
If I am wrong and they say negative blaming things there could be a courtroom brawl.

Yeah, I agree.

I’m just hoping for facts, ones that shed some light on what happened that day.

Autopsy findings, a more solid timeline, and an overview of digital records.

That's right! She said their first thought was, what has she done now?

I now remember that! I actually had a big long response typed to them, and deleted the whole thing. It would have gotten me a time out for sure.

That reminds me of something Cindy says in her interviews...she says she was not at all worried when SW and her small grandchildren went missing AT ALL because she was sure SW had taken them away to “punish” her son. Yet, in another interview she says her son could never kill his children and that’s SW was dangerous and she believed her son that she killed them. So, which is it, Cindy? If SW was so unstable, dangerous, why did you have not a care in the world that your grandchildren might be unsafe off with her if she was trying to punish your son? Huh? I find this revealing that I am sure she did not consider SW dangerous NOR capable of hurting her own children until her son “confessed” SW killed them to save himself. Then, Cindy remembers SW as someone who could definitely do this. Nice. Hope this makes sense as I try to type this out with my thumbs on my phone! :)

I think that Mr Watts could manage that, but I can't see Mrs doing it.

I really hope we do get to see the interrogation videos. If any emotion exists in this man I think that's where we'll see it.

Similar to Jacob Wetterling's killer, too. I think an allocution was ordered in both those cases. I know that it was part of the plea deal in Jacob Wetterling's.

Yeah, I agree.

I’m just hoping for facts, ones that shed some light on what happened that day.

Autopsy findings, a more solid timeline, and an overview of digital records.

I'm holding out hope that we'll get a good picture of that from the DA's presser after the hearing. He seems like he wants to tell the story.

Personally, half way through his first interview, I started crying. I knew. Which is a very weird feeling. I read a lot of true crime, but, never in a million years, do you expect something like that to hit so close to home.
I am so sorry BabyButterfly, I truly can't imagine what that must have been like for you and all of Shanann's friends and family. It probably still seems unreal

Oh my, so many Aussie mates on this board. I have traveled to Sydney numerous times. Good memories. Delicious Kiwis (taste different than here in the US), and Singapore noodles (strange but true, in Sydney).

Sorry you guys have to wake up so early or stay up late to catch the sentencing live.

Tomorrow can't come soon enough... Nothing can ever change what happened but at least he will never know freedom and free will again..

We have all waited for this, and as you state, "Tomorrow can't come soon enough".
I wish the Judge has very harsh words to state, and we see the look on CW's face.
Probably, his usual, cold stare.
I really don't want to hear anymore from CW, just " Yes Sir".

Watts family murders: Chris Watts scheduled to be sentenced Monday
[SBM]
On Thursday, a judge granted Watts’ parents or a designee the right to speak at the hearing. Chris Watts' father is expected to be in court for sentencing Monday. [BBM]

What do you all think?

I believe if RW is designated to speak for Watts family, he'll adhere to the advice not to blame or disparage SW. I don't think Cindy could control herself --even if she had a script.

One of the Denver TV stations (can't remember which) said they anticipate having the autopsy reports later in the day after the sentencing.
