I was trying to go back and find the Verified Insiders, but I remember one who was Chris's friend who said that Chris wanted to be rid of Shanann and she continued to text him and try to win him back. Apparently she was right on Chris's point of view and how he was seeing things. Very sad. So now we know that Shanann really did love him.

So our favorite podcasters were dead wrong about the injuries to Shanann.

No surprise there...

I’m glad that was the case though.
That, and I didn't hear any mention of a letter either. Hopefully they'll crawl back under whatever rock they emerged from. MOO

Hi. So very sad. A few thoughts.

I hope we hear more details at the DA press conference at 1pm MT.

Researching jewelry and places to vacation with NK? Texting at all hours? Are you kidding me? They had been seeing each other only 6 weeks (supposedly). How absurd. Thank god she went to the police.

Why did he even bother with “Shanann strangled the girls”. He knew that wouldn’t hold up upon examination. So his story was doomed from the start. He should have said Shanann smothered the girls.

I do agree with others that Shanann was probably killed in bed and had no chance to fight back. No other injuries to her - wow.

I am unsure who died first. Let’s see what the DA says. I bet they don’t know for sure.

Chris Watts sentenced to life in prison in 'inhumane' killings of two daughters and pregnant wife - CNN
A Colorado judge sentenced Chris Watts on Monday to three consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole in the killings of his pregnant wife and two young daughters.

Judge Marcelo Kopcow said in his 17 years on the bench, "this is perhaps the most inhumane and vicious crime that I have handled out of the thousands of cases that I have seen."

Shanann Watts was strangled, and his two toddler daughters were smothered to death, Rourke said, citing disturbing details from the medical examiner's report.
"The man seated to my right smothered his daughters," Rourke said. "Imagine the horror in Bella's mind as her father snuffed out her life. ... She fought back for her life as her father smothered her."
An attorney for Watts followed Rourke's statement by saying her client is "devastated" and though Watts realizes his words are hollow, he is "sincerely sorry for all of this."

JMO, he would not have been sorry at all if he had managed to get away with it.

Also, SHAME on those monsters "leaking" the autopsy info which was totally false.

Sick, dark, disgusting souls. The kind that gleefully imagined Shanann's shock as she was strangled to death by the man she "controlled."

Those who blame victims need to think of their own motivation and look around at the company they're keeping (fellow blamers). It could explain everything.

Such darkness.

Hmm. Watching the Watts' statement. I amy be backtracking a bit on my thankfulness for their statement. Hearing it live it's actually sort of what I predicted. They accepted the plea of guilt but I think they aren't really saying he is guilty for all. More they're upset for how he handled it - killed Shanann and how he disposed of the bodies.

"I hate what has happened." But they don't really fully acknowledge what he did?

It's kind of what I thought - how good and normal their family is. How they still love their son. They accept the plea and that HE has accepted responsibility.

I don't know. It is definitely an improvement. I am glad they apologized about the interviews they gave smearing the victim.

I did feel for them during their statements. So sad.

He destroyed everything.

As Sharon Rocha said, "Divorce is always an option!"

There was a lot of “passive voice” in the Watts’s statement. E.g., “I’m sorry they died” instead of “I’m sorry my son killed them”.

But in all fairness, they didn’t try to defend what he did, and they admitted it was uncondonable.

I agree. I am appreciative that they said they're initial interviews were motivated by incorrect information. Once they went down the "son, I forgive you" route - I lost it again.

BBM - Remember that he came on pretty strong to Shanann as well. She said in several videos how persistent he was and that was what ultimately won her over :(

Heartbreaking. Shanann texted him for days and weeks to save her marriage, sent him self help and relationship counseling books which he threw away in garbage. Truly a monster and a betrayer.

He was a big enough man to murder them all; but not to give his own apology. Even the apology through his attorney is hollow just like his soul.
I don't like "sorry for all this" vs. being sorry for what he did. He and his parents keep avoiding using verbs -- he DID this. It didn't just "happen." He seems sorry for all this whole big mess he is in, not sorry for the incredible vicious devastation he caused with his own bare hands, literally. This is all so sad. It really is not something we can comprehend. It makes no sense.

What surprised me during the sentencing was the DA presenting more evidence against CW that proved that CW is an even bigger moron than I thought he was, IMO. How did he honestly think he would get away with anything?

I’m very glad I didn’t listen to those podcasts. It was frustrating to wait for the hearing and the DA’s statement, but at least we know they’re facts.

Which is one of the great things about WS: just the facts.

I agree. And, now, in a bid to stay relevant, they have posted a picture of "the letter".

Was it ever determined that CW had a gay lover and that he looked for guys on the gay dating apps? Or, were they just lies from an attention seeking male?

Yes, I remember that. I thought it was disgusting that this was said like it was a bad thing -- that there was no compassion at all for a pregnant mom of two who, yes, might actually want to "win back" the father of her children. Heartbreaking. He is indecent and frankly his defenders also seemed to lack decency (not talking about on-the-fencers).

I thought the proceedings were as calm, short, and civil as could be. No one truly wants drama, I don’t think.

Very well said. I'm still reeling!

I watched CW the entire time his mom and dad gave statements and I never saw one tear. He never looked up. The camera moves away from him a few times so maybe in those few moments he dropped a tear but I seen none.

The general public watching would not notice what they did not say, it's just those of us who followed their words beforehand.

I thought in his parent's impact statement they thanked the prosecution for meeting with them and that they didn't get the communication they thought they were due by the defense. I may have to go and re-listen.
