I think he lied about the smothering vs strangling, because the smothering story wouldn't sound as believable when he tried to sell his story that his wife was killing the girls.

If he tried to say he saw her smothering CeCe, and he ran in to stop her, then it would make no sense he had to strangle her. Why not just push her away and call 911 and begin CPR?

Why not do the same if he saw her strangling them? He had to know they would know the difference when the autopsy's were done. So he only bought himself a little time. In jail. JMO

I think the "strangling" was a slip because that's what he did to SW. Maybe just bits and pieces of the truth slipping through.

And he probably didn't realize that smothering and strangling look different on autopsies.

Ugh, I know. I couldn't get any of the live streams to work so I had to rely upon HLN. So frustrating. They'd cut away for LONG commercial breaks, then come back and talk to the 'experts', instead of showing the hearing.

I think he texted the co worker beforehand so that no one would come to the site when he was disposing of his family. He was trying to ensure his privacy.

We know he had to text co-work before SW got home from airport. He was lying in wait for her. .. I couldn't breath when I heard that. Reminded how CW demonstrated dupers delight 24 hours later, he was giddy over his evil act.

Shanann’s mom moved me the most (maybe because I’m a mother, too). She was gracious and eloquent. Very impressive.

I agree. The father is still (understandably) an emotional wreck, but the mother was in control, rational, and eloquent as you say.

Why did he not just pack his bags and walk out the door, leaving his family behind ? What a coward. If he wanted out, all he had to do was leave. Still blaming Shanann because she was asking him to try to save their marriage - is he suggesting if she had agreed to break up it would not have happened ?

His tears today fool nobody, they are tears for himself and the loss of his own freedom, not tears for the family he murdered.

I hope prison is as horrible as it is portrayed on tv and that he spends every minute in there in fear.

I have a feeling his time in prison will be brief. MOO

The way his one leg was shaking, so fast and hard---that didn't look like fear to me. Shaking with fear is more uncontrollable shaking, from within.

His leg shaking was more like intense, balled up energy and anger, in my opinion. He is pissed, probably at himself for being caught, and at his dead wife, for making him kill her and the kids.

I think so too. I think he cowardly smothered his two daughters before he killed his wife, and I think he did that while she was in Phoenix. Of course, it's likely we will never, ever know.

That ties in with him asking the girls necks to be tested for DNA, as it maybe wasn't to vilify Shanann as such but to prove he didn't strangle them.

I think SW was killed first and I believe she was killed in her sleep. That would help explain the lack of defensive wounds. His slip about how she'd "barely gotten in bed" (paraphrase since he didn't finish the sentence) may have have been Freudian.

I kind of hope that's true, because my thoughts are much worse.
