The part that broke me down the most today was hearing Bella fought for her life and hearing about the damage incurred by being shoved into the tanks. Even the disclosure of one tank being less full based on the splashing sound just made my blood run cold. How on earth could someone do those things to innocent children just because they didn't want to have to pay for them or care for them any longer?? I realize we'll never wrap our heads around it because we don't suffer from that disorder but still...
It's so strange. The irony of his parents, however small-minded, loving their son so unconditionally when that same son killed and disposed of his own children without a drop of heart and that most natural of human attachments. It does seem to be a common thread among some of these FA's that they kill during the initial period (6 weeks) of a new affair. But it is impossible to understand the psychology of a man who could play the doing dad and then smother the life out of his children, and giggle the next day. We are still here unable to comprehend this.

But his supporters all had excuses for that although they hardly mentioned the dastardly act of dropping his clean little girls in crude oil.

Really awesome Podcast! Especially the sound bite from CW's Mother..what a piece of work! Butter wouldn't melt in her mouth. She was quite a cold blooded Mama. And the over the top santicimonious religiosity. Pretty obvious that she doesn't have a lot of sympathy for SW or the girls. The unsaid message was that "Poor CW, SW must have done something to cause this". No, she didn't say that, but it was pretty clear. And I agree. CW has a lot of rage against his Mother. Interesting perspective.

The DA is fantastic. Succinct and informative.

Levi, Liltexas, and Tricia, kudos! Great insight.
I shuddered when she said they forgive him. That was quick! Sounds more like the enabling they have always done.

Same here. Although I am surprised the damage wasn't much worse, as I expected. I don't know how it was possible to incur so little damage on their little bodies, but I am so thankful it wasn't much worse, for the sake of the families.

I wonder what the context of the conversation was regarding the fullness of the tanks. Such a morbid comment for him to have made. :(

Reporter addressing “emotionless interviews given to the media”:

“Ball/Bold(?) faced lies. He stood up there and tried to deflect attention away from his own responsibility...he lied to the public..”

(37:13 shows CW on phone on porch saying “yea”)

“He stood there and said he hopes his children and his wife were safe...”

I think it is not up to her to forgive him! It was not her life taken! I find this inappropriate, especially after she blamed Shannan. How can you forgive this person, if you were obviously so little affected by the death of your daugther-in-law and your grandchildren?

She was hateful and I felt like (some) people were bending over backwards because she was an "Insider." She made horrible malicious insinuations about CW's VICTIM and really stoked the flames.
I will say that she opened the door to the SW bashing. People felt justified to say things they had not before after her appearance and the seeds she planted. The whole tone of the threads were changed at that time, and this became a less victim-friendly site as a result.

ETA: It would be nice to see her come back and admit how badly mistaken she was by his deceptive behaviors too. I doubt we're going to see that though. Many of understood she probably under his sway but it would be nice to hear that she now realizes how taken for a fool she was too.

I could have misheard this because I was way more emotional than I expected to be - but did RW’s statement acknowledge Shan’ann as a daughter to him vs Mrs. CW, who did not? If I heard that correctly, how sad. SW’s mom very poignantly acknowledged that Chris had been a son to them. For the Rzuceks it’s effectively no different than him being dead. Surely the man they thought they knew is dead, if he was ever real in the first place.

Jmo.

To hear that I didn’t kmow her? I did know her. I hadn’t known her for long — only about a year.
I'm so sorry and agree with @UKslueth2018 and the rest of us that did not know her, grateful that you @Colorado303 that did/does know her deserve a huge cyber hug!

Rourke ”frankly despises the word “deal””...uses “agreement”.

——

Question from reporter:

Re: “DNA on their necks...now that we know they were smothered, did that ever come into play?”

Rourke: “No. No, it didn’t.”

O/T. You mentioned earlier someone thought the bald guy was attractive. I think Rourke is attractive.

And how he had to force Bella through that hatch and caused the abrasions on her bottom :( And how little Bella was fighting for life and biting her tongue and breaking her lip frenulum while he was suffocating the life out of her and waiting for her to go limp?

And how he didn't care! It didn't affect him at all. He was able to act 'normal' with his work colleagues that morning. And according to NK's interview he just wanted to chit-chat with her as 'normal' as if he hadn't just murdered his pregnant wife and his two little girls.

Frank was right, CW is an evil monster, at least if one is restricted to polite terms.

Re: motive:

“I think that based upon his google searches, his cell phone searches, some of the things he was doing while Shanann and the girls were in N.C, I think it became pretty obvious that he found a new love interest and for whatever reason in his mind divorce wasn’t an option....(paraphrasing: other than the usual)... we couldnt find anything else that was a significant enough motive to annihilate your family in the manner that he did.”

I think that it is important that we recognize and remember the vibrant life SW was trying to make, and remember her, rather than the remembrance of the horrible monster, that CW is...sort of tragic too. I can rattle off the top of my head several monsters, and very few of their victims. Of course, the victims of family annihilators seem to be more memorable to me, because it wasn't danger from a random person, it was the most trusted one.

This case brought tears to my eyes and I will never understand how Chris could do this to his family. I'm often thinking of it, even if I'm not online (checking WS). It breaks my heart, that this children were never loved by their father (otherwise he could not have done it). Were they loved by his family? I don't know. I breaks my heart, that Shannan tried to do the best out of her life and her marriage, that she stroked her baby bump, not knowing she will never get to know her new baby and the baby will not have one day on this earth. They didn't have any chance - but there was nothing more that they deserved than a life without this monster!

And in the end, I believe that this is the difference between Chris Watts and us. We do care, we would not throw away our family, we could not do this to defenseless little children or pregnant women! He is the weirdo.

Very true. We have agonized over this and grieved Shanann, Bella, CeCe, and Nico more than he has.

another whopper to the list of CW faux paus.

the most ill conceived yet.

he made a very very big contradiction and I realise why.
he wanted everyone to think shanann killed the kids..."he seen her with his own eyes on the baby monitor strangling cece" BUT wants to also play the card that he doesn't know how they were killed.

his brain was so frazzled by now imo he muddled up TWO totally different scenarios he had thought about without realising the consequences of the shan'ann did it lie.

moo
Why didn't he just say he went downstairs for a while to cool off, then found them dead when he went back upstairs? (because he is dumb) Criminals like him love to add details and those details always gets them in the end.

Wouldn’t it had broken Bella’s arms and legs to put her in an 8 inch opening? I’m so appalled hearing details in the case today It made me physically ill.

I never thought anyone could be worse then Scott Peterson but then came Chris Watts.

Which one was she? I was trying to find some of her quotes.

I remembered something today that a nurse said when my sister passed away. She said "remember that science tells us that energy cannot be destroyed, and so your sister's energy will always be here." Shanann's beautiful energy and that of her innocent children will remain to brighten the lives of all who knew her, while Chris will rot in a cell that is as empty as his soul.

I agree. I have a thing for intelligence and compassion and he's full of both. I've known inside he was going to bring this home since the beginning, and he didn't let me down. He proved himself to be every bit as good as I stated at the beginning.
