I feel terribly sad for the laboratory staff that had to clean off all that thick tacky black crude oil from those beautiful little girls while trying to maintain the intergrity of evidence.

outstanding, such an important job they do.
I did too and I thought it was so nice of Rourke to acknowledge all the peripheral people, LE, ME, coroner, who were affected by his completely horrific action, I just can’t imagine having to drain those tanks and recover their tiny bodies.

What I meant was we all have scars but how do you tell that they are from an operation and not a wound from say being stabbed. He made that observation before opening her up and finding the metal. I think an example of evidence of operations would be sutures.

Possibility, M.E. was noting in his finding, neck structures without swelling of the lymph nodes.
Not sure if she had surgery on her neck. I recall she had Lupus. Would it cause swelling of the lymph nodes. Biopsy to diagnose for lupus is possible?

I have mixed feelings about NK, so let me use logic.

DA was not quite happy with her level of cooperation, and it tells me a lot. NK is not the person who was played. JMO. She is smart, she has good protection, but specifically this exonerates her in my eyes.

CW and NK were not in the crime together. This is what matters.

NK did not kill these kids. She is not an accomplice to murder. For us, she is a totally side person, even if CW wanted to start a new life with her. NK is not a "mistress", just some other woman, and we should let her restore her life.

NK might have not wanted CW as a poor and burdened with endless child supports husband. This would be expected. But the shortcut solution CW took is shocking and disgusting. And the main reason I don't believe NK is in any way implicated - nothing in the story tells us she was a stupid person, and it takes an extra level of stupidity not to foresee the consequences of his actions. Especially the place he chose for the burials. It directly hurt her.

So - her behavior is not a crime. People at work were not happy with NK - it is all over the Inet, so it is not a secret, but we don't know these people either. We should not pay attention to their internal squabbles.

For us it should be important that NK is not implicated in horrible murders. She made a human mistake by hooking up with a monster who came across as a nice, handsome guy. It happens. No one saw that he was a monster.

Nothing that she did is exculpatory for CW.

Let her go on with her life. She'll manage, I am sure, financially and job-wise. Emotional part of it will remain hers. I think she'll manage as well.
Where do u see people were not happy with her at work? Because if it's from the pod people we can discount that.

I think it's off limits esayer, referring specifically to Tricia's latest post on this thread.

YES. I thought about this today. I have 2 grown sons. NO Forgiveness would NOT come that fast. I can understand them saying I love You, but not forgiveness. NOT YET.
She may have forgive him but I don’t think he will ever forgive his mom. I think he holds her ultimately responsible for the way he turned out. There is some really weird family dynamics between CW and his mom. Maybe he blames his mom for all his problems with women. I think she coddled him and was totally controlling with his life from choosing his clothes, friends, GF etc. I bet she controls his Dad as well. Although this is not an excuse for snuffing our his family. His brain is not wired correctly and there’s some loose wires.

I hope alone in his cell he hears the splash, splash, splash ala the tapping in The Raven. "Nevermore."
At these pads, there are tanks that hold different materials. Some tanks hold the heavier hydrocarbons...grease, oils...while others hold condensate and the lighter hydrocarbons which are various solvents such as benzene, toluene, methyl ethyl ketone, ethylbenzene, isopropanol. (These are the same chemicals that you find in paint and paint solvents which is why the girls' bodies were flammable. Their little bodies had absorbed these flammable compounds). Really crude oil is the oil as it comes out of the ground. It goes to a refinery that will heat the crude and the various compounds will turn to gases at different temperatures and then cool at different temperatures. When they cool, they condense (liquify) and they draw the liquids off. This is how they get oil, alcohols, diesel, gasoline. (Probably more than you wanted to know). The characterisistics of the crude oil will vary from well site to well site, so I think he meant that the well that had more oil and made the louder splash, had more oil (liquid) in it. The other well most likely had the thicker ends and sludges...asphalt-like, and a very thick, heavy liquid, so it would not have splashed as much if any. Also the site had its own separator/coalescers, so they would have been doing some pretreatment to separate some of the water and other liquids from the natural gas. Notice from the autopsies that the girls had some of the same chemicals in their bodies, but also some different chemicals.

Shanann was smart, technologically-savvy and suspicious. I bet she knew who his AP was. I bet she confronted him with it during their 'emotional conversation'

i also think he only mentioned that conversation to the reporter interviewing him because he knew NK would see the broadcast and it would give him a chance to say 'well i mean i told her it was OVER, that was the emotional conversation i was talking about'.... he was still thinking he was outsmarting everyone including his new flame....

he deserves to rot in prison...and hell.
Except CW told NK they were finalizing the divorce.

She never said a word that implied, to me, that she was accepting that he killed the girls. It was all passive voice as before, something that just happened to the them and him. She just toned it down and, IMO got some very good coaching on how to say he was innocent without actually saying he was innocent.

I know others here don't agree with me, but both the parent Watts used, IMO, the words "I forgive you Son", as a code phrase to tell him they still believe his original story. One of the original stories, that is.
My opinion as well, code phrase.

Sometimes it's time to say it's over.... and process... and be so, so, very grateful. Working on that. God... just shine like beautiful Shanann. Thank you for all you've given me here.

I don't want to imagine what her first drafts looked like...or before she was helped to "edit" them to be more appropriate for court. IMO

Yes, maybe he blames HER for what he did. I wonder how she would respond to that.

Watching the CW media porch interviews again and seeing him in court yesterday, it really strikes me how bad he is at masking stress and anxiety. I don't think he has any conscience where he is conflicted about his actions or about telling lies, but his physiological reactions betray him and show his true emotions - mainly anxiety and fear. He is not very smooth.

I think he is just as cold-hearted and sociopathic as Scott Peterson, and not remorseful except for the unappealing situation he now finds himself in, but SP was a more smooth, better liar. Totally swarm-y and disingenuous, fake charm, but that guy didn't even blink telling his lies. This one couldn't even coherently get out his words. He told the reporter his heart was racing a mile a minute. I'm sure that statement was a truthful one, just not for the reasons he claimed.

I think he was likely a very awkward, socially awkward, somewhat doofy, introverted guy for most of his life, maybe with social anxiety. (Nothing wrong with being a non-sociopathic introvert either!) These last few months in particular, the difference in his appearance and demeanor was distract. The working out, the muscles, fit, more lean, sculpted physique, the tight t-shirts, dyed hair, even his face took on a more confident, arrogant, less soft look. He looked like he finally had an ego. Maybe he had this evil in him all along, but was more passive. Add in the new girlfriend, and I think his head and ego got really big to the point he thought he was feeling pretty full of himself and thought he could actually get away with this. It was evident pretty early he is just not smooth or crafty or clever enough to keep up a facade. Cold -hearted and calculated, yes. But then he just really sucks at it.

To be honest I'm surprised we didn't see the realtor turning up during the media interviews to install a For Sale sign. Now that would have been fun to see him explain. :D

Totally! And to be honest I can't understand how someone flippantly forgives someone for something they haven't owned up to. Maybe someone taking a biscuit when they shouldn't have, or taking a car park you had your eye on. Not callously murdering your precious grandkids. Sorry. As you say forgiveness would likely come, but not that soon. The way they are using the term is about saving face, and looking like nice people who love their son. But that's not what forgiveness is. They can love their son and be kind to him. They don't have to forgive him yet

The phone was found between the sofa cushions of a sofa in a room described as 'the loft' and/or 'a loft room'. First, as a Brit I had to work out what on earth a sofa would be doing in a loft [different language usage]. In the UK a loft is a place usually accessed by a 'hatch' via a ladder: the place where we store some seasonal items like Christmas decorations, camping gear etc]. In the US it seems more like a proper room under the roof but is accessed normally via a door, and also used for storing things?

Some possibilities:

Shannan who returned home very late, took her phone and lay down to sleep on the sofa in the loft room in order not to disturb Chris, not knowing that he was awake, alert and actually waiting to kill her.

OR

Shannon returned home and joined Chris in the marital bed. Chris committed his crimes, and then took himself and Shannan's phone off to this room and took a couple of hours sleep on the sofa. Apparently even after committing heinous crimes like his, some criminals are able to sleep just fine, but he might have drawn the line at remaining in a bed/bedroom with his dead wife in it.

In both cases the phone slipped between the cushions and he not only did not notice, but had no chance to search for it because on his return to the house that afternoon, LE were waiting at the door and did a cursory search through the house with him.

@gitana1 Hi Gitana, I’m very interested in the content of the texts CW sent in the days leading up to the murders. Is this public information? Will it be made public? Or is this considered part of the evidence that will be returned to CW’s father?

I do. While I’m beyond relieved that they didn’t attempt to disparage Shan’ann in their statements, I would have loved to have heard ANYTHING that indicated they had suffered a loss beyond the loss of their son. Had they no words at all for the loss of their precious grandchildren other than that Bella reminded her so much of Chris as a child? It’s like they weren’t even recognized as separate human beings with their own identities, much less as cherished grandchildren. I may be out of bounds here, but I just can’t understand. The impression it leaves is that the only people affected here are them, and Chris. It’s unimaginable to me. JMO

You make a really important point. In enmeshed families children are often seen as extensions of the parent. Maybe they hated SW so much the kids were a reflection of her.. Or maybe their thinking is a bit distorted and they can rationalize their deaths as it's their father who did it. Sounds sick, but these families don't tend to think the way others do

He made the observation before looking internally. Sorry I don't know what ops she had apart from one on her neck and I don't know what date that was.

He said the one child had a peanut allergy. That is known how?

Why did he
I would say that they did not notice the surgical scar on her neck because of decomposition and then found the hardware.

The ME must have looked at medical records for the children. Otherwise he would not have known about the peanut allergy.

Did he not look at her nedical reports? Why not?

Why does she have the back fusion? Was it a DV or what was it?

Yep I've always thought Shannan would have slept on the couch. Seems like too much animosity going on to want to sleep in bed with him, especially now that we know he was ignoring her texts etc, and she most likely knew about NK.

He cried during his father’s statement, and I think he cried because he knew he disgraced his father, and he realized his father will never feel the same way about him. I didn’t see him crying for Shanann, Bella, and CeCe, though.
I thought he seemed upset and trying to hold it in when the DA described how Bella fought back. Chris knows how the smothering of Bella went down. It had to be horrible. He knows it.
