CW couldn’t really talk to his parents about anything concerning the case until it was resolved. Now it is. CW is going to get lonely in jail. I think they’ll write letters for awhile, and then they’ll visit. It may take time, but they all love one another, whatever love means in their house.
He couldn't talk about the case. There was nothing keeping him from writing them a letter or calling them and telling them how he was and telling them he couldn't talk about the case. He may have nothing to talk to them about. Apparently they don't know their son.

Many convicted killers in the past have laughed, smiled, or remained stone faced when sentenced. After all of the analyzing of CW leading up to the hearing I fully expected him to remain stone faced and even look angry. I was shocked that he showed any type of emotion at all because many (including myself) had concluded that he was incapable of feeling anything. The tears may have been completely for himself getting caught but it was still a surprise.
It's kind of a myth that psychopaths or narcissists don't have emotions. They can have a great deal when it comes to themselves. The big thing is they don't have empathy. He doesn't feel emotional pain about how his family died or what they went through. If he has tears it is for himself. I'm sure he IS devastated. But it's because he knows the shame he has caused in others and knowing everyone knows what he did and thinks he is evil. I think it's unbearable for him. I don't think he is sitting around gloating, he's suffering a great deal. If that's any consolation. From what I saw in court I really believe this. I think it was real. Jmo

[Bolded by Me]

I'm sure his parents love for him is genuine. I seriously doubt their forgiveness is. Cindy Watts did not utter a word about Christian forgiveness until the day of sentencing. She certainly did not practice 'forgiveness' towards Shannan for Shannan's perceived transgressions against Cindy Watts in the days, weeks, months and years preceding it.

In Chris's new house, IMO his definition of 'love' will rapidly come to depend on 'how much $ did you put in my commissary this week?'

My guess is he will quickly shut down any of their questions about his crimes, and they'll accept it in return for continued access to him.

His parents are going to live out the rest of their lives spending money they can little afford supporting him and visiting him. He'll never tell them the truth and he'll not care one iota, as long as those top ups keep coming.

Or he slept on the couch and she took the bed, given that she was pregnant and probably in need of a good mattress. Maybe he sat there with her phone.
Maybe he deleted things on her phone.

Just picture him if he hadn't been arrested yet. Really imagine it. He'd be whisking his girlfriend off to Aspen in her new jewelry, taking offers on his newly listed home without a care that his daughters are decomposing all alone in tanks of oil.

He doesn't care about Bella.

He's a master manipulator that cares only for his own future.

Moo
I think he cares. He just loves himself and cares more about himself. His parents statements did move him a tiny bit. But he certainly wasn't upset that his family was dead. The interview tells the truth. I know his dad likes to think he loves his girls but I can't see that he ever did.

DA Michael Rourke’s comments about people sharing their theories on social media and how he feels that jeopardizes their work and case. Has this caused any of you to pause, give this some thought, and perhaps not not participate in web sleuthing/posting?

Totally! And to be honest I can't understand how someone flippantly forgives someone for something they haven't owned up to. Maybe someone taking a biscuit when they shouldn't have, or taking a car park you had your eye on. Not callously murdering your precious grandkids. Sorry. As you say forgiveness would likely come, but not that soon. The way they are using the term is about saving face, and looking like nice people who love their son. But that's not what forgiveness is. They can love their son and be kind to him. They don't have to forgive him yet
Can't imagine how extremely difficult it was for Shannon's family sitting in the courtroom,
listening to CW's parents, read their victims statement to the judge.
Shannon wasn't there to defend herself, when CW's parents made statements about Shannon in a recent interview
before the hearing. I heart was breaking for Shannon family.

I don’t think his complaint was about sharing theories, as much it was about salacious rumors.

Horrible things, vile things, were said about the victim in this case. Blatant falsehoods were represented as fact, and vilified the innocent.

Gossip publications were part of the problem, but so were Facebook groups that were motivated by an irrational hate of an innocent victim.

I also believe that a particular member of the Watts family, fanned the flames from the shadows.

What a blow huh, to tell your son you still love him and forgive him, and have him totally blank you.

I’m not sure what percentage of his upsetedness applies to each. I took a guess.

1. I’m devastated that I killed my wife and children (1%)

2. I’m ashamed of what my mom and dad must think of me (15%)

3. I can’t believe I got caught, and I’m going to spend the rest of my life in prison. This, like, overwhelmingly sucks. (84%)

Not just Facebook groups and gossip publications. CW supporters were everywhere on the Internet.

I agree on the salacious stuff. I just got the impression that he felt more strongly in general about all of it. The part for me was when he said people might be wondering ... am I recalling something I might have seen correctly, or am I maybe influenced by something I also read on a blog or site.

Not for me because I feel that this site focuses on facts and evidence as opposed to unrealistic theories. And we could not possibly know the things that LE knows. I think he is referring more to the rumours and gossip and misinformation about the case becoming truth in people's minds and in the media. And perhaps the influence of some of the vicious gossip and victim bashing that seemed to grow and spread. I don't know what else could have hurt the case. Imo

"Mr. Watts has asked us to share this morning that he is devastated by all of this. Although he understands that his words are hollow at this point, he is sincerely sorry for all of this."

The end.

Is this really a direct quote that I totally missed the meaning of it all?

Devastated by all of this, meaning getting caught and the sentencing and the publicity?

Sincerely sorry for all of this, meaning getting caught and the sentencing and the publicity?

Sure thing Chris.

Nowhere did it say that he was devastated and sorry for what he had done!!!!!!

My guess would be

90% I can't believe I got caught and have to spend my life in prison, how horrible for me.

10% I'm so clever and good at acting I'm going to fool everyone into believing I'm hurting and sorry for what I've done.

LE says something similar in many cases. The biggest problem, in my opinion, is people spreading rumors on Facebook and Twitter and talking about “tips” that LE then has to investigate, but that are invariably false. When strangers insert themselves into cases, that almost always negatively affects a case.

LE has criticized social media in the Missy Bevers case, and her murder remains unsolved over two years later. LE also criticized social media in the Delphi murders, and we’re going on two years with no arrest.

All of this to say that I believe social media can be helpful, but LE and the public need to work together. Sticking to facts and not repeating rumors is the first step the public can take.

Ok fair enough. I’ve just been thinking about it today a little.

Ok, thanks. Yes, the flame fanner ... not cool. People got kind of crazy there at the end.

I read at others sites, but only participated at Websleuths because rumors are not allowed. I am grateful for the rules. I couldn’t tolerate the Shanann bashing, anywhere. I truly grew to love Shanann, what a good person she was, and how hard she worked to be her best self. I cared. I never met her, but I mourn her loss and the loss of those two beautiful little girls. Once, every few years a murder grabs me, and I become totally invested in it. I don’t want the murderer to get away with it! I really appreciate having a place to go where people who are just as interested as I am can share their thoughts.
