I grew up with a wonderful guy who was killed at his work, and the shooter also killed a cop responding to the 911 call, along with his wife. The day after he was sentenced to LWOP he "killed himself" with the glass from his eyeglasses. Sometimes the guards allow things to happen. They look the other way.

Interesting—never thought about the glasses.

Ugh, I can't double quote to save myself on here now. Anyway, this is for @tmar, the guy in the video above gives CW less than 1 yr in prison before someone gets to him and that will be his end.

They all say that. And yet, Christian Longo. Chris Coleman. Jeffrey McDonald. And on and on.

Our prisons are full of people who murder children. Everyone ALWAYS says they will be harmed. How many cases of murdered child killers do we hear of each year? I think 16% of murderers in prisons are child killers. That's a stat I seem to recall.

I really never hear of any of them getting harmed.

I can’t speak for federal, but for state prison (at least in one midwest state—I imagine it’s somewhat similar everywhere). Everyone works (as in a job). Depends upon what your job is, but they will work all day (like a normal job) + break for lunch. Most people are up by 6:15am, but breakfast is from 5-8am. If you work in the kitchen, you’d need to be there earlier. If you’re in, say, the weld shop, maybe you get in there around 8am or whenever the leader of the shop arrives. ‘In your bunk’ time at night is around 10pm. There are multiple times during the day when they are lined up and counted. Etc. Etc. Let’s see if we learn more about where he is going to. Then it should be fairly easy to get more info.

Well, Chris could have spoken up and corrected Rourke and let everyone know what happened. What he was shaking his head to, who knows. Do you recall during what words he was shaking his head to?

That's another addition to the list of questions we will probably never know the true answer to.

It's all unfathomable and bizarre. And you know i don't think it's so black and white. Can these people feel empathy or love ever? Of any degree?

Because I deal with sociopaths and narcisissts in my work a lot. They do the bare minimum for their kids. They act when people are watching but can't keep it up all the time. Like Shanann would've definitely seen a different person at home. But she never seemed to indicate that was the case.

Baffling.

So I think it's more nuanced than just psychopath/narcissist. Maybe there's a special category we haven't yet discovered for these annihilators.

What's bizarre is the crazy things he did or didn't do, which pointed right at him. Like calling his child's school. Trying to sell the house. Not staging the home so it looked like she could leave. Not using cash with his affair.

And just the very fact that he took his hands and smothered his babies to death simply so he could be burden-free for his affair! Was t because he thought no one would believe Shanann would take off without her kids?

And then saying the girls were strangled when he knew he had smothered them. And he acted out the lie. Why? Why not say she smothered them?

It just really all makes no sense. It is indeed insane. But he shows no signs of real insanity.

Was his desire for or obsession of this woman so great he lost all reason?

I wish some pros could tell us what the heck is wrong with him. And why there are so many contradictions.

Really good points here. And WHY not call 911 if it went down as he said? There is nothing to back up his story. The initial interview with the PD had him demonstrating how he saw SW strangling the kids and that was also false. I think he wants to play this martyr and no one is buying it due to all of the evidence before, after and during.

I remember at some point that I posted, as well as many others, that when all was said and done, we would still be saying, "WHY? I just don't understand." And that is what we are all saying. You just can't apply logic to illogical people or illogical situations. There was nothing about the Watts situation that was unlike anything that 1000s of people per day are going through every day, and many go through much worse things. Even if CW had a disconnect with his mother...that is no excuse. There are kids that are abandoned by their parents, beaten by their parents, have cigarettes put out on their arms by their parents, yet they don't do what Chris did. There are, on this very day, children that are living in cars because they do not have a shelter over there heads. There are invisible kids out there that nobody notices, but they don't do this. As an adult Chris found a beautiful, loving wife and children who he tired of, and went on to try to replicate what he was looking for in someone else. I heard a commentator call Chris Watts an empty vessel, and I thought that was a good description. He sat around expecting others to pour into him, to make him whole. Truth is, you can never fix another person. Many of us have learned that the hard way. You can be supportive and positive with other people, but you cannot "fix" them. It is up to each of us to "fix" ourselves. That is hard, but most of us muddle our way through it the best that we can and at least succeed to the point that we don't destroy others. There are no signs that Chris tried to do that. Like a temperamental child that tires of a toy and destroys it when it ceases to satisfy and then screams for a new one, so Chris destroyed his family and looked for a new replacement. It doesn't make sense. It won't make sense to us. Chris just wasn't quit human and ALL of this is on him.

"Toxic" is the perfect word to describe it.
Poor Shanann didn't stand a chance and she was as perfect as a daughter-in-law could be.

QUESTIONS WE HAVE ABOUT THE WATTS MURDERS

1. What was the significance of the non-porous bag and the footprint?
2. What was CW doing on the Saturday night before the murders? Did he use a babysitter?
3. What did CW do with Shanann's engagement and wedding rings?
4. What did the dogs alert on?
5. We all heard a dog barking while at least one of the infamous 'porch' interviews took place, was it ever confirmed that the barking we all heard was a LE dog and not Dieter, the daschund?
   
6. Will they ever release the police interview with Chris?
7. What was underneath the blacked out areas in the arrest affidavit?
8. The affidavit states that CW “ultimately” strangled SW – did he describe a big fight, inconsistent with the autopsy results?
9. Did Chris Watts know the neighbors had cameras?
10. Was the garage keypad really broken as CW told police?
11. What is the history about that doll photo on her FB?
12. NK "deleted" texts & FB posts before contacting LE. Do we know if LE recovered them?
13. How did Shanann's phone get in the sofa?
14. What was the content of the texts CW sent in the days leading up to the murders? Will they be made public?
15. What was the content of his texts and any voicemail to SW after the murders?
16. Bella was received at autopsy wrapped in a bedsheet "from retrieval process." Was this one of the Watts' bed sheets and was she found with it?
17. What was the exact day/time CW called 1) the school to "un-enroll" the girls and, 2) the realtor about selling the house?
18. Did the Watts have a home phone?
19. Did SW mention to anyone (family/friends) that a separation or divorce was being discussed? Did NUA know what SW meant when she indicated she would need her friendship more than ever?
20. Did Shanann ask to talk to the girls on Sunday night and if so, did CW deny this?
21. When did CW find out about baby Nico's gender and what was his reaction that the DA alluded to?
22. A reporter asked Rourke if he thought the pregnancy had contributed to CW's actions. Rourke said, "The reaction of the defendant when he found out was something less than what you would expect a normal and reasonable father to display when he found out that he was about to have a son." The DA looked and sounded like he was referring to something specific. Is this coming from texts they read between SW and CW? Something SW told family or friends?
23. Why didn't SW, Bella, and CeCe have on pants? Was it to enable getting them down the oil-tank hatch more easily? If so, why then would SW not have on pants?

This being Thanksgiving Eve and the kick off for the Holiday season, lets give some extra love and prayers to SW's family and loved ones, and everyone affected by this horrific chain of events. This will be a difficult time for everyone who knows them. I can't even imagine how hard this will be. Just because he is finally being sent away, there is so much to deal with. Grief takes it out of everyone, and it takes so much time if you can ever come out the other side. Sending love and healing to all.

I think the question was how did the information get out long before this. I wondered the same. Obviously someone was leaking information from the investigation. Imo

My guess is the staff at the school were talking when they saw the interviews before LE even knew about the call. I know if it were me I’d be saying he just called to say Bella would not be attending, one friend tells another...

I will say that not wearing pants isn’t anything significant for me. Many times in the summer my girls and myself slept only in T-shirt’s and undies, especially when they were Bella and CeCe’s ages. One of my kids still sleeps that way all year round. Like I said before, Shanann sleeping in her bra did make me wonder if she was in bed but I’ve been assured many of you sleep in your bras. I also agree the lack of defense wounds means she was most likely asleep when he attacked her. I think she was super tired and just took off her pants and crawled into bed.

Could she have been wearing a soft bra, or nursing sleep bra? We don't know because the description wasn't specific...but I think that it's possible.

I just don't think CW has the guts or the b@llz to survive in prison.
He's "sensitive" to his own feelings.
And a rotten coward who killed his pregnant wife and tiny girls.
All bullies are cowards, never met one who wasn't.
I have a feeling he will probably take himself out somehow, someday.
Perhaps after his first month having to take communal showers with Big Bubba.

I am sorry, how sad. Sorry to be dense but when you say "his" wife I go confused about the pronoun -- the shooter's wife? Not the cop's wife I would gather -- slightly confused but anyway never thought about the glasses as potential weapon like that. I wonder if they still allow glass lenses.

I just cannot get over the fact stated by the DA that when his coworkers showed up at the location where he stuffed his children into the oil wells and buried his wife and unborn child that same morning, he acted NORMAL. Then fast forward to the porch interviews. Chills me to the bone.

And I'll bet the shirt (he likes a lot) was not a gift from Shanann as he'd stated, but from NK.
