My guess...and this is a complete guess only...is that he will admit to having thought about murdering his family beforehand but that upon coming home, SW changed for bed and he got up and they had a convo about divorce. This is why he remembers her makeup stained face and the sheets had it on there. He was hoping she would be okay with it and agree to half time custody even though he doubted it. When she (understandably) was angry and upset that he was leaving her pregnant with his son, I believe as anyone would she may have tried to scare him straight by saying then she is leaving out of state with the girls and will hire a PI to find out if he has been cheating...perhaps leading him to believe that she might be able to expose him to his friends and family as a “bad guy” and have a drawn out divorce. I think she went to sleep and her fate was sealed. I think he will say he “lost it” and murdered her in her sleep, and I think he will say he knew those girls would shriek and cry and never be the same without their mother, so he smothered them both with a pillow (even though they didn’t find evidence of this...it is still my guess). I believe he glossed over Bella’s death in the original confession...putting himself never even in the room with her because she is the only one who woke up enough in time to briefly fight back and that haunted him a little bit so he compartmentalized. I think he will minimize his pre-planning and maximize his desire to end the inevitable suffering of the girls in his mind were they to have lived. I don’t believe he will own up fully and say he just wanted to throw them away and start anew with a woman who wanted her own family with a man unburdened by an expensive, drawn out divorce, money for other children, and an ex wife, friends and some family who will hate them both for following through with their affair when his wife still carried his child (which he wanted only a few months before...before he met the mistress).
Just putting my total guess out there. It is likely spectacularly wrong but I am just curious if anyone has any thoughts on what he will say given what we know. I believe he will cop to his actions, given his newfound life with a Bible by his side, but not his thoughts completely, in the name of redemption. He has probably convinced himself he never had the more selfish thoughts he did. MOO
