I didn't get the impression that they didn't want him to speak in detail, rather that they didn't think it was worth it to make it part of the plea deal.
Yes I should have clarified as part of the deal. So again why believe him now. Something has convinced them.

There would in fact be a bill to the taxpayer; the entire expense from airfare to per diem! It doesnT matter if the local, state, and federal authorities have budgets for this, it is still ALL taxpayer money!
Overall, this case given its high profile was insanely less expensive than it could have been had it went to trial. It is a tiny expense to get closure for the families, public, and prevent any down the road "my attorneys entrapped me" bs. I do not believe it was a wasted expense. And I believe they had every reason to believe it would be fruitful.

(O/T, the other day I was watching “The Hunt with John Walsh”, great show. I plan on following up here with many cases mentioned there.

One of the cases featured a FA who slit the throats of his two little girls and killed his wife then set the house on fire. The suspect has been on the run so long now that there is an age progression image rendered. I hit record so I could notate the case to follow up, will post the information here when I find it.)

IIRC back at Trial end the Prosecution did not want CW to speak in detail of the crimes as they felt he would not be truthful. So what changed? Why now do they feel confident he is being truthful?
I'm guessing that whatever he revealed in this interview aligns with the evidence. As we know, his previous version did not.

Robert Fisher?
Yes.

(ETA:
Sorry have we talked about him before? Probably so, in fact now that you mention it...shoot I think I might have even posted about it...)

Well, IMO they were more interested in getting the clean plea deal signed and sealed right away, than delaying it, possibly jeopardizing it by insisting on details. We could all see how he lied and lied, even and up to his father during the interrogations. I think that's what they did, get it finalized ASAP.

Feb 13, 2019 CBS DENVER News 4

Lambert expected a conversation with Watts to be awkward, and possibly even “eerie.” However, when on the phone, Lambert suggested Watts may have come to terms with his new reality, as he answered every question they had openly.

“It wasn’t weird, or anything… He doesn’t seem to be fighting this,” Lambert said. “(Watts is) admitting liability, or giving up things that he might’ve had claim to.”

Lambert said Watts had 35 days to file for default. Before then, the law firm will work to provide proof of pain, loss of income, and losses to the family and Shanann’s estate.

Lambert said the Rzuceks were doing better, since Watts was convicted to life in prison for the murders of Shanann, Bella and Celeste “CeCe” Watts. However, he said the spotlight the murders placed on the family has been trying for Frank and Sandy.

Lambert hoped to have the wrongful death suit resolved before the end of the year for his clients.

“(Watts is) spending 23 hours (a day) in a cell, sitting there,” Lambert said. “He has the next 30 years to think of what he’s done.”

Lawyers: Shanann Watts’ Parents Lawsuit To Go Uncontested By Chris Watts

ETA: Although it was suspected CW was in Ad Seg, the Rzucek's attorney's statement confirms CW is not enjoying any community company in lock up - 23 hrs/day.
One week prior to the breaking news of meeting with CBI/ LE on Feb 18, 2019, CW reportedly also talked with the Attorney (Lambert) representing SW's parents in their civil wrongful death suit. Attorney Lambert also reported he was surprised that CW answered all the questions put to him, was not contesting lawsuit, and seemingly was admitting liability.

I believe "the investigative team" probably used Lambert's news to see if CW would speak freely to them as well. I think CW likely "confirmed" that his initial confession of murdering all was true, and that it was not given to save himself and family from a trial -- as alluded to by CW family. I'll be surprised if CW provided them any "details" of the actual murders.

Most important - Lambert reported that CW was being held in 23/7 cell lock down. If CW talked to LE and/or admitting responsibility, this was more likely to obtain some additional freedom in prison than for any other reason. MOO

I never said it was led by DA Rourk. I quoted him.

You said that the DA had stated he didn't care what CW had to say so what changed?

The DA and the FBI/CBI are separate agencies. So if the DA wasn't involved in the decision to re-interview CW, what would his statements matter?

There would in fact be a bill to the taxpayer; the entire expense from airfare to per diem! It doesnT matter if the local, state, and federal authorities have budgets for this, it is still ALL taxpayer money!

As I stated, there would be no special tax bill.

Justice involves attempts at closure for the victims' families. I hate that word because for these families the matter will never be closed. They will suffer the rest of their lives. But having answers to some questions is important. Hence some family members will actually go to the prisons years later to try to talk to the perps. Questions haunt them.

The murder of two beautiful little girls and their pregnant mama by the one they all trusted with their lives is no small thing for these investigators. They carry these cases with them. The cases disrupt their personal lives for some time as they work them. They go home and look at their own babies and it's hard.

You bet they'd want to hear more if they hadn't heard enough. They'd do it for the family. That's part of justice.

As you can see, society has in interest in getting answers as well. That's also part of justice.

I know some are intent on making the villainess NK a murderer and co-conspirator too. But nothing about this indicates to me that she has anything to do with this. For me, it has to do with passion for one's work, a desire to seek justice for the families and an intent to do a good job.

Does CW get the free use of a public defender for the rest of his life? IE after plea deal, sentencing, sent to prison, etc. It must be attorneys (possibly paid, I don't know) who urged him to cooperate further, possibly in exchange for amenities he doesn't get now. Can he just summon public defenders whenever he feels like it?

No. He can get one for the appeals process though but otherwise they're done. And probably glad to be done with him.

The prosecution is different from the investigative agencies. Totally different entities. They work together at times but have different aims.

I didn't want to hear any self-serving court statement from CW either. He would just lie. But he's apparently summoned investigators after reflecting for 23 hours a day in his cell. Maybe he has something more honest to say. We shall see.

Interesting. I wonder if he considers what daddy and mommy might say about all that.

Yes. I wasn't interested in hearing him before but this is different. I hope he doesn't disappoint.

Agree. Yet I am a bit nervous for Shanann's loved one's

March 7th can't come soon enough. I am both horrified and fascinated by this turn of events. We have learned so much from this case. I hope the families do experience some small measure of closure and for SW's family, some much needed validation that their daughter is completely innocent and was never the monster CW became or was. That he blamed her should have been some added sentence. It was disgusting. He murdered this poor pregnant mother, dumped her without a care in the world, and then when cornered, blamed her for most of it. How he came to become what he was is a psychological quagmire for me and what drew me to this case. MOO

Also meant to say thanks gitana for pointing out the separate entities. A point that I totally didn't consider.
