Here’s a look at the growing memorial outside a Frederick family’s home after @DenverChannel police sources confirmed that Chris Watts confessed to killing his wife and two young daughters.

I just spoke with a friend of Shanann's who brought flowers to the family's home. She said she spoke with Chris Watts Monday after they disappeared and he told her he knew nothing. She said Shanann had an infectious smile and was kind and selfless. (1/2) @DenverChannel

(2/2) The friend also told me Shanann never went anywhere without her phone and that's when she knew something was wrong. She told me Bella was in preschool and CiCi was about to start pre-k next Monday. @DenverChannel

Frankie Rzucek, who is identified on Shanann Watts’ Facebook page as being her brother, posted overnight on his page saying he just wanted to know why.

“I just want 30 seconds alone with that heartless psychopath. May Satan have mercy on his soul,” Rzucek wrote. “Doesn’t take a genius to know who was suspect.”

A military jet taking off with its afterburner on full blast. A jackhammer. A sandblaster. A freight train. What do these sounds all have in common? They’re significantly quieter than the sound of a gun being fired. Even one with a “silencer” attached to it

A gunshot’s sound has three components: the expulsion of explosive gases that propel a bullet out of the barrel of a gun, the sonic boom of a bullet breaking the sound barrier, and the sound of the gun’s action (the hammer or striker smacking the firing pin). All of those different components combine to make the deafening noise that is a gunshot.

A suppressor works by redistributing the flow of explosive gases triggered by the firing of a gun (the first sound component listed above). A suppressor cannot prevent the loud sonic crack created by a bullet exceeding the speed of sound. By redirecting the flow of gas that follows the projectile out of the barrel, a suppressor can slightly reduce (but not eliminate) the sound of a standard handgun or rifle being fired.

It’s NOT a silencer, it’s a suppressor. If you shoot a gun in a home with a suppressor (which are illegal to purchase in Colorado) close neighbors would likely still hear it.

Praying for Shannon's family. As a Mom and an Aunt, I find this absolutely horrific, no matter what troubles a family is going through.

Even when most of the neighborhood in asleep? I know nothing about guns.

Wow just wow. I watched the interview and wondered why he was laughing!

Did you notice after Chris answered questions. He examines the reporters face to see if he is believed? He also is caught off guard when the reporter asks him to spell his wife and daughters names.

All that are new to sleuthing. Examine this case and learn. Another one are the tv interviews with Josh Powell. Especially the interview where he is outside standing by his car. Scott Peterson with Diane Sawyer.

Even if you don't pick up any signs of deception. It's a lesson in how easily psychopaths lie.

Missing bedding, mattresses, rugs, storage containers are other signs. In this case, the girls blankets were missing.

Items left behind that a person needs to go about their daily life. Shoes, Crutches, cane, prosthetics, glasses, medicines, etc. In this case it was an epi pen.

Large amount of money left behind. It may not apply in this case, but the Mc Stay case is a good example.

This case is a good case study.

We still do not know that the murders took place at the residence. The car seats being out of the car (as told in the media many times) leads me to believe he put them in his truck to take the kids to the alleged party Sunday. Where else did he take them? I still feel the children were not in the house when SW returned home, I think they were already gone. Then she came home, things immediately went south, and he pulled in and took her to the same spot as the children lay. This is purely just speculation. Perhaps a cadaver dog did hit on the house the other day, but why not take out the trash bags of what appears to be material (bedding I am guessing) at the time of the hit. It will all come out eventually. I am now very curious as to the dynamics, because criminal behavior facinates me. The down side is, there are victims, and that hurts. As the days pass, and as the trial begins we will find out more and more. Very good chance we will be very disgusted and nauseated as we follow along....Monsters do live among us, and wear very attractive masks. This poor woman and those poor precious angels....no words....no words....just none....IMHO

Hi all, can someone explain to me the issue of the police arriving at his house before him and therefore finding some incriminating evidence against him?

I think this is what you're asking...let's say he leaves, hides the bodies, goes to work, with the plan to go home after work, doctor up the scene (house) to look like a break in occurred in his absence while he's at work (alibi). He doesn't count on an astute friend who listens to her gut and alerts LE early on in the day. So LE arrives and home is locked up tight, no evidence of a break in. That's going to eliminate a LOT of people, right off the bat, narrow the suspect field tremendously.

...and their blankies are gone because he buried them with them :( I've been distraught over Mollie's case since it started but this story took me down a dark road. I have two little kids around the same age. I feel worried and sick over this. Why, just why. Leave them, run away, divorce mom and start a new life....why this?

Because it is never actually about "just" wanting to leave or have a new life. It is often about power and control. And arrogance. In their minds, just leaving is giving up all control. Sick, disgusting, and heartbreaking. Two of my children are also around the little girls' ages and I'm literally sick about it. I'm also out of town for work. I caught my mind wandering to imagine coming home tonight to that scenario and I broke down crying. There are no rational explanations.

May they all rest in peace and his sorry a$$ rot in hell.

Ughhhh this is awful. Reminds me of that piece of human trash Josh Powell.

I was just coming here to say this reminds me of Chris Coleman. Although if there are degrees of evil, CC was off the charts. All murder is heinous, but killing children, I just have no words for that.

Ay yi yi. And his family too!

The body's of his family are his only chips. He's a master manipulator and he won't give them up without something in return. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not told them where they're located yet, other than he will lead them to recover them. He's probably waiting until morning to lawyer up, then he'll talk.

I think you give him too much credit here. He very well may be a manipulator but master manipulator uh uh. Master manipulators are usually very clever and have their plans well thought out and can lie their way out of anything because they already have a plan B, C, D. This guy certainly did not and it was extremely obvious to those of us on the outside looking in that he was guilty.

*His plan sucked and did not include any alternative if something interferred with it as Nicole did in this instance

* He is not a convincing liar as proven from his interviews. He could not keep up the charade very long.

My assessment of his character is he suffered from little man syndrome. An insecure man that could not deal with his wife being independent and more successful then him. He has very weak character and belief in himself and confessed very quickly. A master manipulator would have lawyered up to avoid talking to police so that he could figure out a way to get out of this. They NEVER confess. Think kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar and insisting he wasn't grabbing a cookie, that YOU saw it incorrectly. Master manipulator's imo are pathological liars.

Adults can turn poisonous on eachother when the threat of losing love happens. Killing the kids can never be rationalized. They only give love.

Also, in this case, there was already a bankruptcy filed, so he couldn't file again. They were going to be ruined financially. Wonder if they had life insurance or if he might have planned a gofundme.

Awful outcome. Learned of this case yesterday and hoped for a better outcome. Though I had little hope, unfortunately. I hoped maybe the girls were okay at least.

I have to chime in and say that their debt isn't a shock. The oil rig lifestyle is tough. I live in an area with lots of rig workers. There's a lot of pressure to keep up with the surrounding workers and families. Lots of money spent on expensive homes and trucks and RVs and designer items. Mostly on credit which spirals out of control after a while.

My motive guess would be that she wanted to move back home after spending 6 weeks away. Perhaps she even wanted to leave him and their debt and take the kids back alone. She would have family support there.

Or he was child free for 6 weeks. All of a sudden he's alone with 2 young girls. Snapped and killed them. Then Shannan when she returned.

Either way, it's devastating. And his apparent lack of remorse is something else. His interview was shocking. Would have been better off not commenting at all.

Yes. But language that could be interpreted to mean something happened to him to cause him to not be able to control himself or that was out of his control, like he was pushed to do something, bothers me.

Because for too long people have blamed victims of domestic violence (I know you're not doing that BTW), for the violence perpetrated on them: "What did you do to cause him to hit you?" "Oh her nagging pushed him to smack her."

I'm just sensitive about the words used because I want it clear that he was in control and made the decision to do this. He had a choice.
This is the best post I will read today.
