Chris Watts' Daughter Walked in on Him Strangling His Wife: 'What Are You Doing with Mommy?'
A pre-recorded interview with attorney Steven Lambert will appear on Tuesday’s episode of Dr. Phil. In a clip of the interview obtained by PEOPLE, he describes the scene when Chris Watts strangled his wife before he smothered their two daughters last August.

“The night in question, Shanann came home,” Lambert tells Dr. Phil McGraw. “She and Chris got into a fight. They had made up, they were getting along quite well.”

“Later on, they got into a fight again,” Lambert, who is representing Shanann’s family in a wrongful death suit against Watts, continues. “In that fight, he essentially confessed to having an affair, that he wanted a divorce, that it was pretty much over between them. She said something to the effect of, ‘Well, you’re not going to see the kids again.’ As a consequence of that conversation, he strangled her to death.”

McGraw then asked if the girls witnessed their mother’s murder.

“Bella walked in and asked, ‘What are you doing with mommy?'” Lambert says.

Chris Watts murdered his elder daughter after she witnessed him killing her mother according to an interview that will air Tuesday on The Dr Phil Show.

Steven Lambert, the lawyer who is representing the family of Shanann Watts in their wrongful death lawsuit, claims that his clients were informed of just how Watts carried out the brutal murders.

It started with Shanann threatening to keep their children from him after she learned of his affair, and ended with the mom and both daughters dead.

A pre-recorded interview with attorney Steven Lambert will appear on Tuesday’s episode of Dr. Phil. In a clip of the interview obtained by PEOPLE, he alleges that 4-year-old Bella walked in on her dad disposing of her mom’s body by wrapping it in a sheet.

Bella Watts Walked In on Dad Chris Watts Disposing of Mom Shan'ann's Body: Lawyer
The last moments of little Bella Watts’ life were filled with terror and confusion, as the 4-year-old girl walked in on her father disposing of her mother’s body before he turned his ire on her and her sister, an attorney for the victims’ family said.

“What are you doing with mommy?” Bella asked her father, Chris Watts, as he wrapped the body of his pregnant wife, Shan’ann Watts, in a sheet after strangling her, Steven Lambert, a lawyer for Shan’ann’s family, said during an appearance on "Dr. Phil."

In a clip of the interview, which will air Tuesday and was obtained by People, Lambert told Dr. Phil Chris killed his wife and daughters after he and Shan’ann fought over his affair.

“… [H]e essentially confessed to having an affair, that he wanted a divorce, that it was pretty much over between them,” Lambert said. “She said something to the effect of, ‘Well, you’re not going to see the kids again.’ As a consequence of that conversation, he strangled her to death.”

Killer Dad Chris Watts ‘found God’ before confessing new, horrific details of family murder
Convicted family murderer Chris Watts is believed to have some type of religious awakening that prompted him to share new details about the brutal murders of his pregnant wife and two daughters with investigators in a late-February interview at the Wisconsin prison where Watts is serving multiple life sentences.

[...]

According to the lawyers’ account, Watts revised his story in last month’s prison interview with investigators from multiple agencies, and shared a shocking new claim: That his daughters Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, were still alive when he drove them, with their mother’s body in his pickup truck, to an oil field where he buried Shanann, smothered both girls, and stuffed each of his daughter’s bodies in an oil tank.

[...]

Watts reportedly told investigators that Bella had walked in on him as he was wrapping Shanann’s body in a sheet, and that he told Bella her mother was sick and needed to be taken to the hospital. Following the 45-minute drive to the oil field, Watts reportedly admitted that Bella witnessed him smother her younger sister and pleaded with him not to do the same to her.

Asked why Watts would suddenly decide to share this new information with investigators, given that his case is closed and the sentence has been delivered, one of the lawyers said that he believed Watts had discovered religion since he arrived in prison.

“He is claiming that he is remorseful, and he has found God,” Thomas Grant of the Grant & Hoffman Law Firm told Dr. Phil.

Chris Watts' 4-year-old pleaded for her life, attorney says - CNN
Chris Watts' 4-year-old daughter knew her mother and younger sister, Celeste, had just been killed -- and she feared she would be next.

"Please Daddy, don't do to me what you just did to Cece," said Bella, according to a lawyer for the family of Shanann Watts, the girls' mother.

Earlier, Bella had walked into the room just after Watts had strangled his wife, Shanann, and was wrapping her in a sheet to dispose of her body. "What are you doing with Mommy?" Bella asked her father.

Bella's last words and other details about the disturbing familial murders were revealed by attorney Steven Lambert on Tuesday's "Dr. Phil" show.

[...]

"I don't think he will ever tell us. I don't think he will give an honest assessment of why he did what he did, how he did what he did," Weld County District Attorney Michael Rourke said.

But in the "Dr. Phil" interview, Lambert said the couple got into a fight and Chris Watts confessed he was having an affair. He also said he wanted a divorce and declared that their relationship was over.

"And she had said something to the effect of, 'Well, you're not gonna see the kids again.' As a consequence of that conversation, he strangled her to death," Lambert said.

As Watts was preparing to move the body, Bella walked in and asked about her mother, Lambert said.

"She's 4, what we've been told she's quite smart -- was quite smart -- and knew something likely was up. And what he said was that, 'Mommy is sick, we need to take her to the hospital to make her better,'" Lambert said.

Lambert said his understanding is that Chris Watts put Shanann's body in his truck and then put his children, who were alive at the time, into the truck. He took Celeste's favorite blanket and smothered her, Lambert said.

"At this point, Bella had unbuckled herself from the vehicle," Lambert said. Watts walked back to the truck and that's when Bella made the plea for her life, Lambert said.

Chris Watts drove 45 minutes with dead wife, 2 daughters, before killing them at oil field: family’s attorney
[...]

Watts then went into a rage and strangled his wife to death, Lambert said. As he was wrapping her body in a sheet, 4-year-old Bella walked into the room and asked: “What’re you doing with mommy?” Lambert said Watts told his daughter: "mommy is sick and we need to take her to the hospital to make her better."

With Shannan’s dead body in his truck, Watts drove his two daughters to an oil-and-gas field in Weld County, about 45 minutes away, Lambert said. He then smothered Celeste with her favorite blanket while her sister watched, Lambert added.

After Watts removed Celeste body from the truck Bella said: “Please daddy, do not do to me what you just did to Cee Cee,” according to Lambert. Watts dumped the girls’ bodies in an oil tank and buried his wife in a shallow grave.

[...]

Watts reportedly offered authorities the new details from behind bars in February, according to The New York Post. Shannan's family has not listened to Watts' supposed confession but was reportedly briefed on what was said. Audio from Watts' exchanges with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, FBI and Frederick police investigators will be released on Thursday, The Denver Post reported.

Chris Watts agreed to provide details about murders of wife and daughters after he discovered god | Daily Mail Online
It seems that Chris Watts' decision to finally share the details of how he killed his pregnant wife and two daughters may have something to do with divine intervention.

The killer dad, 35, who is currently serving three life sentences behind bars has discovered God in prison according to members of the legal team for the family of his deceased wife.

'We don't believe that he has been offered anything, or that here is anything that could be given to him or traded,' said one of the lawyers about Watts decision to speak with authorities.

'So I think it is the jailhouse religion. Our understanding is that he is now remorseful, and he's found God.'

[...]

'We've had a few different conversations with him. It's almost eerie how normal some of the conversations go with him, and I don't know exactly what that's about or anything,' said Lambert.

'He's been very forthcoming. It's almost like calling a neighbor.'

The lawyers also say that Watts is 'friendly,' and appears happy to be hearing from them in prison.
