FORT CARSON, Colo. -- Police are investigating the death of a Fort Carson soldier at the Army base outside Colorado Springs as a murder.

News reports say the Spc. Brandy Fonteneux, 28, was found nude and stabbed to death in a barracks Sunday

Female soldier from Houston found dead at Fort Carson

The Army is investigating the death of a female soldier from Houston as a homicide after her body was found in the barracks at Fort Carson in Colorado Sunday morning.

Sergeant arrested in slaying at Fort Carson barracks

Fort Carson has arrested a sergeant in the slaying of a soldier found stabbed to death in her barracks room early this month.

Military officials announced today in a news release that it is filing charges against Sgt. Vincinte L. Jackson, 40, in the murder of Spc. Brandy Fonteneaux.

Sgt. Vincinte Jackson was convicted and sentenced to life in prison Thursday in the death of 28-year-old Spc. Brandy Fonteneaux of Houston. He said at the hearing he doesn't know why he killed Fonteneaux, who was found dead Jan. 8 in her room – stabbed 74 times...

A military panel sentenced Jackson to life with the possibility of parole, though prosecutors couldn't immediately say how many years he would serve before becoming eligible...

Brandy Fonteneaux knew Jackson but they were not close, according to the aunt who raised her, Bevenly Thomas. Fonteneaux had told her family that Jackson confided in her about his crumbling marriage. Thomas said she asked Fonteneaux if she and Jackson had a romantic relationship, and she replied, "No, Mom. He's married. He's too old."
