They should pass the ball to the 12th district.

(3) In a case involving the death of a person, the offense is committed and the offender may be tried in any county in which the cause of death is inflicted, or in which death occurs, or in which the body of the deceased or any part of such body is found.

Section 18-1-202 - Place of trial - applicability, Colo. Rev. Stat. § 18-1-202 | Casetext Search + Citator
I love that idea! Yes, get it out of the 11th district! I’m just shaking, I’m so excited. So good to see so many familiar names again as we spent almost 2 years on here trying to get justice for Suzanne! I just say, praise God!

... now Suzanne's daughters know their mother DID NOT just run off and abandon them.

@CarolAMcKinley

NEW information: #SuzanneMorphew's bones were found in a shallow grave in a dry field of sagebrush on east side of Saguache County. It's been over three years since she went missing ...Mother's Day 2020. El Paso Co Coroner identified her remains and an autopsy is being peformed

Shallow grave, to me, implies rocky soil that would make it very hard to dig down into.

Didn’t Barry replace the blade of his bobcat during his Saturday errands? Was it confirmed that the blade was damaged or was that just hearsee?

Likely that he dug the grave in advance.

Or... a cooler?
I pondered that ... but, if she was found in a shallow grave and just her bones/clothes, I'm thinking maybe not a cooler ?
Although just think how much more incriminating THAT would be, if she was inside a cooler from their house !!

The 49-year-old's bones were found in a remote, dry desert field of sagebrush and natural grasses south of Moffat, according to Saguache County Coroner Tom Perrin. He said it appeared that the remains had been buried in a shallow grave before being scattered.

Perrin was called to the scene to collect the remains on Friday, and transported them to El Paso County for an autopsy. Wednesday, they were positively identified as Morphew's.

Morphew's remains were found in Saguache County during an unrelated search, CBI said. Sources close to the investigation told The Denver Gazette that her body was found 30-40 minutes from the Morphew home, but would not elaborate further.

This is worrisome to me in that they were not contained to the grave, but scattered, possibly by wildlife who would, well, not to be gorey, but they’d make use of their findings and could inflict chew marks and such on bones which may make any delicate detection of tranquilizer dart punctures or other bone wounds from a murder difficult. MOO

I hope not many bones were scattered.
Hoping for evidence...

Anywhere in Colorado is the high desert. Unless an area has been developed as farmland or for human habitation and the soil remediated, it's going to be rocky, dry, very hard to dig.

I just hope Suzanne was clothed, as anything other than biking clothes, and Barry is in even more trouble…
Actually.... she may have been in her biking clothes. From Saturday's ride, for which she may have been preparing.

I hope they recover every single bone.

I still think he killed her in a rage. An offset hyoid bone would prove it.
His bare hands will show likely spontaneous combustion.( the possibility of it?? as you can intend to kill someone with your bare hands just opens that line of narrative)

A weapon.... committed intent.

Finding Suzanne should at minimum tell LE this valuable missing piece of the horror Suzanne faced.

Bolded by me.
Chills.
Premeditated, if so.
The killer is sweating, methinks !

I screamed when I opened this thread. I can’t believe they found her. So unexpected but so thankful she can properly be laid to rest. Holy crap…

Had he dug it in advance though, it would have been much deeper. A shallow grave tells me he almost certainly did it by hand.

Anyone recall the location of Barry's falling on the ground having a meltdown during the search for Suzanne? I remember reading it here and seeing it posted, but I'm not sure how to search to find it. I've tried a few search terms and not seeing it.
I think there were pics posted very early on, here at WS ?
What a drama queen.

Hmm.

I think he was in a rage when darting around "shooting chipmunks" (or squirrels or whatever - none of them needed to be shot). But was she dead at that point? I am on the fence. I think he might well have tranquilized her.

And then...killed her later. Which is not a fit of rage, IMO (unless, of course, he's one of those people who can sustain rage for many hours). He started the process of killing her in a rage (but had already fantasized/thought through how to kill her).

If he did strangle her, I think it happened off-premises. I've always thought this. And I think it's an attempt at creating the "perfect murder" and that part of it was thought out before. Or he's incredibly cagey and smarter than I think he is.

I'm very interested in rage (have never experienced it, myself; but have seen it). It's usually brief and the rageful person often makes lots of mistakes (like Barry). But he was not in a rage the whole time.

I'd like to think that most of us would just collapse, and turn ourselves in, or otherwise let others see a bit of who we truly are - if we found that during a rage, we had killed someone.

Ms SD will be crucial at trial. She knows and knew a lot.

IMO.

If he Bobcatted it, I think it would have been deeper. Besides, the blade on the Bobcat was more for moving dirt, not digging. I can't recall if he owned a backhoe attachment. So that's not it.

Those hand tools he left in Salida, the sodden towels left on the floor, the multiple wardrobe changes… did he try to wash the tools clean in his (and subsequently Jeff Pruitt’s) hotel room? The same tools that he did not take with him when he returned to Salida?
