I recall sleuthing the parcel where those little trees were located, and it was IIRC a vacant but privately-owned parcel in the same subdivision where the Puma Path house is.

Even if the owner is absentee out of state (which I think I recall being the case), it seems risky to plant trees (with or without anything nefarious underneath them) on someone else's private land.

At the same time, the likelihood of years passing before anyone noticed or took interest in those trees for any non-murder-investigation reason would be pretty high, so I can envision someone taking that risk.

A private parcel with no obvious disturbance would be less likely to have casual hikers passing by or snooping around, unlike the National Forest land in the vicinity.

If (not sure of my memory here) this is one of the places where a cadaver dog alerted, why didn't LE dig up the trees to check?
I'm not sure about that piece of land, but I think the tree where they excavated was on another person's lot, and that's why it took 24 hours to get a warrant. I think LE only dug where their own cadaver dogs alerted to.

There are hundreds of remote locations, crevices, old mines, and bodies of water where he could hide a body where hikers wouldn't pass by. He hunted for years and probably knew plenty of good spots.

Where do you think he was going with it? I had heard rumblings about the Wyoming antlerfest thing but that’s even father. Do you think the photo is just Barry packing up that barn they owned before things got reshuffled for the move?

I'm sure the IN home had to be completely cleared out. I think this was a local-ish trip to disperse of these last minute items. Items that were not going to CO. It has cardboard boxes, this was not going to survive an 18 hour drive exposed, not to mention the whole haul would be a ticket magnet. I do give BM more credit than that. The antlers are hardly anything to get excited about. Taking them to Wyoming where they are not a novel item and everywhere, just doesn't make sense to me. IMO

ETA: can you imagine being broken down on a random highway between IN and CO with this mess? No way. IMO

ETA again: those antlers are completely blocking the view out of that window and side mirror. Another reason I think this was a local drop off trip. Ok, I'm done talking about it. lol (IMO)

IMO MOO - In CM’s last 2 Live videos, and factoring in the deep dive video into BM’s background that he did, I get the sense CM is alluding to BM having “serial” tendencies.

Since his childhood days, BM is very comfortable with tracking, hunting, killing, skinning, cleaning large wildlife as a passionate life-long hobby. Wildlife often times much larger and heavier than say, a 115lb woman. Plus he picked up more value-added skillsets volunteering as a firefighter and being a degreed landscaper. Add to it what we now know and continue to learn about BM’s personality, character and harsh upbringing by his Father’s hand, and you easily have a recipe for someone who likely has been around the block a couple times, possibly building up or practicing his...craft.

We now know that BM was an addicted true crime fan. There was also mention at one point by Mike King that LE was looking into presumable activity on the black web by BM. Nothing good ever comes from that. It may have been crime related, sex related maybe. Plus there is all of BM’s very obvious odd behavior and actions in the last year. To me it easily adds up to a particular profile that CM is alluding to. I feel CM’s experience and trained eye are easily sizing up BM’s true nature and behavioral pattern. In the majority of instances, the signs are there since childhood and CM is making us aware of his assessment little by little with information nuggets.

I further believe this with Chris releasing the hillbilly packed-up moving photo to show that BM was eager to get out of dodge...running from something, possibly a situation that was starting to catch up to him, out of his control or starting to shine too much light in his direction. He hastily was leaving behind his and his wife’s childhood home and family without the complete consent of his wife and to the confusion of his community, extended family & friends.

It’s also very telling that in the last year, BM has uncharacteristically refused to be on camera, have his voice recorded or appear in person at publicized events. IMO he is hiding from something or someone that is very damning to some sort of past wrong-doing BM may have committed.

I can’t wait to see what is in the AA and then the details that will be divulged at trial. It’s always fascinating to peer into the deranged mind and lifestyle of the egotistical criminal.
bbm
Agreed.

Re. the lavender bolded : It looks like he was on the run !

Re. the green bolded : I do not think Suzanne wanted to move.
I'd like to hear Suzanne's siblings weigh in on that.
MOO.

Going back to bleach, tools, coolers, dismemberment, antlers with flesh, hot tubs, and hotels, I had an idea that we may not have discussed before. Maybe BM killed SM in the house and dragged her outside somewhere to dismember her and placed her in the missing coolers. He then dumps the tools he used in the hot tub with copious amounts of bleach/ chlorine and runs it for a while to clean them. He empties the hot tub scrubs it down and refills it. He brings the bleached tools to the hotel in Broomfield and leaves them on a hotel cart. He may have brought some additional bleach to the hotel. He reexamines the tools to make sure there is no human residue left and wipes them down again with bleach. He then takes a shower and leaves the wet towels on the floor.
The antlers are brought up to the house to either lure in bobcats to shore up his mountain lion theory or to try and mask cadaverine in that location.
It has always bothered me that MG said she still had the tools from the hotel room at her home. I wonder why they weren’t seized by LE?
MOO
Yes.
I was thinking he might have driven her somewhere, while she was still alive and hunted her down like an animal and treated her body in the same way.. just retained skeleton.
Then, being evil, I got to wondering whether he kept a trophy..

<modsnip> MSM approved article.‘I’m not the other woman’: Second contractor speaks out about Suzanne Morphew investigation | FOX21 News Colorado

ETA employees at Broomfield.

Barry, Puckett, and Gentile have said a third employee, Cassidy Cordova, was also hired to work on that Broomfield job..... Cordova has declined all interview requests....
Saving this post.
Will add some thoughts later.
There are more msm links with information about the friends and employees, I believe.

For some reason, I think because of the way it was worded, I always thought this was a FB messenger type message that BM's mother sent. I mean, who else would even know the prior church's contact info, besides her? And who else would say "Barry is just beside himself"? Either way, whoever sent the message was clearly informed by BM about the mountain lion, since at the time, that was his pet (no pun intended) excuse for what happened to her.
RSBM
I bet you are correct. I have always thought his mom, doubt Trevor would know her old church group. Thought it was interesting at the time CrimeOnline didn't show a copy of the message. They had no hesitation posting car rental receipts/notes etc. in the Stauch case. So my guess would be it was a recipient of this message who notified CrimeOnline and there may be a little more to the message than they revealed.

Don’t see a date on this, but she wrote a tribute to CM which details his background.
He's my hero - Stand With Honor
Wow, this is an awesome tribute to Chris. What a nice woman Karen is. Thank you for sharing @Cindizzi, you are awesome too finding and sharing links keeping us updated and informed. I especially appreciate you and other posters sharing links as I often don’t have time to look stuff up. I follow cases and post mostly from my i-phone, which is challenging in itself lol.
Really appreciate everyone’s hard work and reading all your great theories/posts.
Thank you all for being here for Suzanne. :)

Yes, it will be interesting.
The AA is going to be a plethora of dirty dealings and secret deeds brought to light !

By now I'd guess forensic accountants have finished poring through Barry's financial records ?
MOO
The Arrest Affidavit ONLY needs to include what was necessary to support the filing of charges, which has a lower standard than for conviction, so it is possible that only some of the dirty dealings and secret deeds will be presented there and that forensic accountants are still collecting evidence and processing it.

Still, I'm as eager as you are to see it!

Love that tribute! And very much enjoyed seeing CM's wife on the latest video. As he would say (and I think he did....), they are yin and yang. It's clear they are partners in that marriage.

Wish SM had had that as she was certainly worthy of it.

This is interesting. ^^^
So the fire chief knew on the 10th or closely thereafter that Barry was not at the non-existing ff training ?
And from whom did he hear this from ?
Barry himself ?

It's probably been discussed at length previously ---- but it sounds like Barry wasn't keeping his stories straight to anyone !
Maybe there's info. on his phone or computers-- some people keep their day calendars and 'sticky notes' on their devices instead of a notepad or whatever.
This is most likely a portion of the evidence that LE gathered.

I so want to read that AA !!!!!!
MOO.
It reminds me of Scott Peterson's alibi(s). He told his FIL, Ron, that he was golfing. He told others that he took his (secret) boat to the San Francisco Bay to give it a test spin.

So, IMO, Barry told some people one thing, and other people another thing. When push came to shove and the alibi was scrutinized, he had to say that the wall repair was his alibi the entire time.

Good thought, never thought of it as a place to clean up... Interesting thought. I wonder if it would be possible to leave no trace in a hot tub.

The other thought I had was he may have dragged her to where he cleans and or dresses his kill. Pretty gruesome but most of my hunting friends will hang their kill for a little while even if it is field dressed, which is over a drain or containment vessel.

I wonder if he has any recent purchases of UV lights.

This home is not attractive
imho. It seems so outdated with the colors it’s decorated in, dark like a dungeon, not a very cheery, uplifting environment for me personally. It would cost a fortune to update it because of size. I was never impressed with it. Total man-cave look.
EBM having trouble with double posts today.
I agree it’s very creepy even if I never knew Suzanne lived there. It reminds me of an old secluded haunted castle or chalet used in a scary movie like “the shining”

It's possible that MG didn't mention that to the police directly and by the time she did speak out, I believe she had moved to another state. Perhaps, after that interview, the police did ask for the tools.

I have to say that if Barry did dismember Suzanne, then cadaver dogs should have found that spot (maybe they did, we don't know). Decomposing human blood is what a cadaver dog is quick to find. I don't think he took her off property to dismember her and I do not think he dismembered her, personally (for lots of reasons). I think that he killed her in the house, either by strangulation, smothering or drowning, and then freaked out. Because, like most murderers, they are really not prepared for the actual moment of realization that they are now a murderer. And in this case, the murderer of a supposedly beloved wife - and mother of his supposedly beloved daughters. By him, a "Christian" man.

Yeah, he had thought over what to do if this ever happened, but it's never the same as it actually happening.

But you, OldCop, have lots of experience with criminals. He was indeed a hunter who had gutted and dismembered many, many times before.

It is odd that he took a strange assortment of tools to the hotel (apparently everything he usually kept in the back of his truck - the truck he later sells in Indiana). Makes me think she must have been in the truck or something was in the truck (maybe just the cooler) that made him fear detection.

I'm liking the theory that he put her in a cooler (not dismembered - he had ones designed to hold larger animals that Suzanne) and used bleach to slow decomp while he did something else (dig a hole? he did something with the Bobcat, obviously).

I also have a strange feeling about the hot tub (did he drown her there? if he did, would he need to drain it and refill it? How long would that take? I have no idea).

I wouldn't be surprised to learn this came from BM's mom, or TN. I think it was an honest mistake, and was actually dropped real quick, at the beginning of this case because it wasn't factual reporting. I'm not really sure why it's come up again, and so adamantly as if BM himself is where it came from.

It's true that BM's mom was on FB almost immediately and said a bunch of stuff, all with the intent to exonerate her son.

There may yet be plot twists involving some of the things she said (which I'm sure have been thoroughly investigated by LE...at least I sure hope so).

It would be interesting to know what event tipped the scales and led to the need to move to Colorado as fast as we can. The pic of the trailer loaded looks like they were out of there in a flash, recliner upside down in the back was odd to me.

In addition, I would like to know why they chose Salida. Did they know anyone who already lived there?

I studied the house for a long time in the weeks she disappeared.

It struck me as very isolated and secluded. I also thought it wouldn't be a place I would want to be by myself if my children were grown and my husband was gone a lot.

CM, I believe, mentioned that Barry would have been given a copy of it. He probably is seething and astounded at the same time. He also probably has a pad of paper and pen noting what he can spin or challenge as he is reading through the document.

I feel certain that he is telling the girls that it is packed full of lies.

JMO.
The AA? If so, yes, seething and astounded. But I also think that if the evidence against him is solid and extremely damaging, and that there's evidence in there that he believes would never have come to light, he is probably panicking big time. There's probably evidence that he can't possibly spin to his favor...I hope. Face it Barry. You are toast.

As Diddian posted, this AA might reveal just enough to warrant the charges. Perhaps, the DA is holding back some evidence that they have until later on when they are required to hand over all of their discovery to the defense.

I sure hope that the AA doesn't disappoint us and gives us lots of detail.

It reminds me of a hunting lodge or a place that a company would hire for a retreat. It is isolated and very hard to believe that the security cameras were not functioning. If that were truly the case, was Suzanne aware of this problem?

Random question. I was surprised when the PP home was listed it had HOA fees (IIRC). How secluded was it really? Admittedly, I don't know anything about HOA fees and assumed they were part of developments. IMO

  • #320
Do we know if the Black RR was Suzanne's?

I was wondering this as I thought there was also a white one pictured early on outside the PP property, . I was wondering how friendly Suzanne was with her neighbour and whether they noticed anything different about the vehicles the day she reported Suzanne missing. The neighbour has remained very tight lipped.
