While we wait for the AA, one of things I’m dying to know is what surveillance cameras show of Barry’s movements in Broomfield on Sunday. A lot of us have wondered WTH did he do all day on Sunday in Broomfield.
LS reported there were no cameras at the job-site itself where Barry reportedly did about 30 minutes worth of work. 30 minutes “working”, leaves a whole he!! of a lot time left in the day to do “other things.”
In Barry’s own words, “there are cameras all over that hotel!” which yeah, you didn’t need to tell us that Barry, we all know that there are cameras pretty much everywhere these days. Lol.
I am very interested about what the hotel cameras show, also whether Barry maybe went to a car wash in Broomfield to wash his truck, any businesses/stores he may have gone in to, visited any dumpsters around Broomfield area, etc.

MG may have assumed that Barry had only the tools that were left for them when she estimated a half hour's worth of work. But... if he had a Bobcat with him, to "move some dirt around", he may have done more than everyone thinks he did.

I wonder if, back at the hotel, someone crashed, after 24 or 48 hours without sleep, waking in a panic to the clock and a pile of missed messages.

No worries, LE knows what time he left the hotel.

Just my smug opinion

One of my biggest issues with him. He just says things all.the.time., but IMO, has no accountability to those statements. My unpopular opinion.

Well, without going into detail, he is actually held accountable here. ;)

Mods have even made it a point to remind members that regardless of individual approved status, non-factual statements aren't allowed, no matter who they came from.

It's one of those fine lines around the rules that sort of gets confusing at times.
Approved person/NOT approved info/not allowed for discussion here.

And just for the record, your opinion on this is not as unpopular as you might think.

He hinted around the edges about it. I can't remember if he mentioned the name or simply hinted around about "the beekeeper."

Sometimes CM is like a kid at the Christmas tree... itching to get those gifts open before the date has arrived!

Who the heck is "the beekeeper"?

There’s lots of cases daughters have stood by their murdering Father. Michael Peterson and Bob Ward are a couple, there are many others. Father and daughter bonds can be very tight.

Thinking about the situation from the daughters' points of view: I really cannot imagine what they are going through. They have lost one parent, and the threat of losing a second parent (even with, or perhaps especially because of evidence that he was involved with the death of their mother) must be so overwhelming. IMHO (not a psychologist or anything) I'm sure there are really complex psychological personal defense mechanisms that are activated in these kinds of situations. I really feel for these young women and hope and pray they have comfort and support now and in the future.

Were they carrying a mortgage on PP home?

It's been discussed that Suzanne had a $500k inheritance that was used to pay for the property, but that still leaves ~ $600k to be paid for.
Apparently they owned it free and clear, although I wouldn't be surprised if BM took out a loan against the house at some point. One of the VI's said he sold his business for a million dollars. He owned other properties but I don't know if he sold all of them or not. Imo

I have no idea; I heard only hints upon hints. And at one point, I think he even used the term "the beekeeper's beekeeper." That's probably when I hit the jar for another hit of chocolate.

I still can’t wrap my head around that daughter. And there was another case here in the US (can’t recall the names) where a man hired someone to shoot his wife as she answered the door. The woman survived but was terribly injured. The man had a GF (surprise!) and wanted the wife gone. Their daughters were on Dateline and acted like, “Oh, that dad! He’s such a scamp!” Unnerving.
I’ve been lurking and watching the case from the beginning, but I thought I would reply since I have personal experience with the above referenced case. The man and his wife Stripehaven mentioned were close family friends and he was a business associate of my father. I’ve often thought over the course of this case that there are some striking similarities. Both women were very devout Christians and in my opinion thought their husbands were believers too. Both men were middle aged and money seems to be the driver in both cases. Since the above comparison was about the children, I’ll offer what insight I can. I will call the killer I know, F. F had shown me personally many acts of kindness through the years that didn’t seem to benefit him personally. I was shocked as was my dad, his friend, when he was arrested. Although, in hindsight, there were red flags as to a change in his personality in recent years according to my dad. I believe his children stood by him because he had been a very devoted dad to them, not because they were controlled or coerced. His daughters were older and highly educated. Their mom, who lived, basically said that their dad had never given them reason to believe he could be capable of murder, so she understood. She is the sweetest, most generous lady but like Suzanne she had experienced some health challenges and their father had to do many of the things she would have done if she was well. Sorry for the long first post, Barry seems to have had a much more aggressive, abrasive personality than F, so the similarities with the daughters may be few but I thought I would share.

Lol. I think Chris is referring to Barry's buddies, and how he thinks Barry (and possibly the buddies, too) were running counter-surveillance during Andy's search, and in the weeks leading up to the arrest. Remember the guy on the bike? He's a "beekeeper" aka "b-keeper".

If investigators indeed found blood evidence in the home, why would it have taken a year to arrest him with a charge of 1st degree murder? Wouldn’t that be the most damning piece of evidence against him?

  • #811
I too was thinking about Andy Moorman’s silence. Not because I think it’s something wrong with it but because I’m so hoping he is somewhat OK.
He gave his everything to find his beloved sister but had to go home without her. That must have been so hard.

Hopefully knowing BM finally has to face the music gives him some kind of peace. I know, it won’t bring Suzanne back, but at least could make him feel all the effort put in wasn’t in vain.

I would love to have a brother like him, he moved heaven and earth for his sister. He organized the kind of search with resources used I’ve never seen before in a search initiated by a family member. He kept her sister in the news for a very long time and kept the pressure on Barry.
The whole Moorman family looks like a class act from what we have seen.

Love this post exponentially ❤️

I know some of Barry's friends were involved in the search, but did they ever confirm who the guy on the bike was or if he is one of Barry's friends? Didn't they claim he was wearing a wig?

Imagine it from a defense lawyer's perspective. You arrest BM because SM is dead and there is plenty of blood in the home indicating something happened there. BM has said he left SM sleeping in her bed at 5 am. Defense lawyer says someone OTHER than BM is responsible for SM's disappearance and all that blood that someone cleaned up where she had once been. BM has shared with his defense lawyer the long list of drug addicted, ex-con former employees who've promised retaliation for him firing them after they bungled some work for him. Defense lawyer says, "did LE question each one of those folks and check out their alibis?"

Investigators and the prosecutors have to build a case that is like a Mack truck driving down the road of evidence without detours. The defense lawyer will try to convince the jury the truth is like a silly straw that weaves this way and that around oddities and through rabbit holes that defy reason.

Ah, I didn’t know the house did have a system. I was going to say, you can get a cheap camera set for a few hundred dollars (at most) off of Amazon if you wanted a few of them at different areas of the house. Even for the front door, I got a ring doorbell for maybe $70 on amazon on sale. Either of this options you can observe from your phone anytime, anywhere.

so what is going on with that system they apparently already had? Hmm

I wish we knew more about that existing system. In some rural locations, perhaps like that stretch of Puma Path, money can’t always solve internet connectivity problems.

The Colorado GIS system for broadband availability shows SM’s home as being outside of wire-line coverage as of June 2020 and doesn’t mention any fixed-wireless service availability either.

Public Broadband Map

That leaves satellite and cellular. Satellite is notoriously expensive, has limited transmit speeds (which means performance for real-time services like voice and video will often be substandard), and is subject to performance throttling. (I don’t recall seeing any dishes in the overhead video of the property taken at the time, either.) That leaves cellular.

There are towers at Monach Pass and near Poncha Springs providing ATT service. The question is, to what degree is the PP residence in the “shadow” of those towers? (I live on the side of a mountain in the DelMarVa and the Verizon repeaters above me mostly shoot over my head, so to speak. So getting one bar of LTE is a good day here. Voice and SMS work just fine on most days but Internet and, especially, video are hit and miss much of the time. I would expect the environment to be even more challenging on Puma Path.

It’s possible that the originally installed system was either a local-recording only system or that remote access never worked well enough to warrant keeping it running. Does anyone recall if broadband availability was mentioned in the listing for the sale of the property? I didn’t take screen caps. If it was, I’d think that would be a major selling point in an area like that.

MOO, as always.

IMO @10ofRods had some interesting thoughts on this last year (IIRC).

Even the BTK killer's daughter says she still loves her father. I think it's hard to just stop loving someone close to you, despite what they have done.

Even if they believe he's innocent now, that may change at some point. I'm sure they will experience a roller coaster of emotions in the months to come. Barry's mother must be devastated, too. Apparently she adored Suzanne. Imo

I think it's because they need to be able to show that there was enough blood that Suzanne could not have survived and that BM was the cause of it. Not a straightforward path.

imo

Exactly. I spent Mother’s Day Sunday with my sister. We were not interrupted once by her children - her daughter was planning to visit that evening to cook dinner and her son was at home studying. It made me think about Suzanne's Mothers day and the hours that would have been passing while the girls were driving home to Colorado. Hours in which the girls phones too would have been in and out of range, I imagine? There was just no need to call the neighbour. People our age are not glued to their phones. Suzanne wasn’t well she could have been napping. Her phone could have been charging in the bedroom while she was binging Netflix downstairs. So many scenarios that make not answering a phone plausible and Barry had to call the neighbour within just a few hours. I wonder what would have happened if the neighbour had never taken Barry’s call...
Looking forward to tomorrow to see if the AA will be unsealed and keeping Suzannne’s Family in my prayers, constantly.

He might have called GI George if the neighbor hadn't answered. I wonder if he tried calling Suzanne himself. Or, maybe he did try calling her.

I'm not attached to my cell phone either, so I know what you mean.
