I have updated the JUSTICE section with the new charges.

So glad to see more piled on to this monster. I can understand "passion of the moment" murder
(understand, not ok with), but to hide the dead body is a whole new level of monstrosity.

JUSTICE for Suzanne

“My wife is probably the most beautiful woman in the country “ he should not have said. He sounds like a property-owner. (And many other reasons, too).
This quote makes me feel sick. He's viewing his wife through the eyes of "bad men" who does this? Who even thinks like this? Ugh.

That sounds so stupid. Like he knows of someone more beautiful in the next county? And only "probably" the most beautiful in his own county.:rolleyes::rolleyes::(:(

Oh Oh, maybe he said "country"? Excuse me, I read "county", but don't know where it was originally quoted. Anyway, he sounds stupid. Like he wouldn't kill her because she's beautiful? Ask Shanann Rzucek about that one.
No, I listened to the excerpt of the interview. He said “county” as plain as day. Here’s the video clip 3 min or so.

Morphew hired two [private] attorney’s Iris Eytan and Dru Nielsen. Eytan has brought more than 50 cases to trial. Nielsen just recently represented Krystal Lee Kenney, the former Idaho nurse who helped put away Patrick Frazee. Nielsen helped her get less time behind bars. They both secured an acquittal by jury in the Tom Fallis case. He was wrongfully charged with the murder of his wife in 2012.
________

In the audio portion of the newscast linked above, LS states BM hired two private attorneys.

To be clear, the Court provides a defendant a Court-appointed Attorney (versus a Public Defender from Colorado's PD office) if/when the PD's office has a conflict of interest and cannot represent the defendant. However, the PD's office does not use public funds to hire additional private attorneys to join the PD team to help them out as CM suggests.

Seriously, one needs to take CM's legal commentary with a huge grain of salt! I recall CM last reported that BM was indicted (grand jury) when in fact Colorado typically charges the accused by Criminal Complaint & Information which is exactly what we are reading from today (filed May 18) and linked below. I understand questioning CM’s off the cuff remarks. It is an approved source and there are many MSM sources that I don’t place too much stock in. The Daily Mail, The Sun and even some we’ve come to rely heavily on. With that, I think wondering out loud in this community with any and all information we find is a viable way of sussing it out.

Personally, until the AA is released I try and double back to verify everything.

Do defense lawyers review case material like the AA and interview the suspect to determine if they have a good case before agreeing to be legal counsel? Would they have looked at the data and suspect to determine their odds of winning the case before agreeing to take it on?

I assume they look at the clients net worth and go from there...

And kind of justifies it - like, well, my woman is beautiful so men want to take her, like everyone understands a desire to take and harm.

Not a good statement to make, imo.

Agree completely. The Daily Fail had a Morphew article yesterday I found 6 critical mistakes in the first 3 paragraphs. It’s disgusting. Personalities shouldn’t play into our news sources but it does. I’ve got a few I refuse to listen to, but have been admonished here for my less than flattering remark about 1 or 2 so I choose to not criticize individual sources but just the information. No ones perfect. There could be a little ADD going on with a certain profiler who gets too excited. My 2 centavos!

IMO, it may be strategic on Barry's part to hire two female criminal defense attorneys, but it won't change his own personal patterns.

They will be dealing with a man who bulldozes women who counter him (and that may not be JUST a metaphor), who believes himself so much smarter than any attorney that he neglected to hire one until he was arrested, and who will do almost anything to avoid parting with a dollar once he's got his hooks into it.

To me it seemed like he was objectifying her. As I said earlier, he probably thought of her as one of his most prized possessions. It's interesting that he mentioned how beautiful she was and that any bad guy could have taken her.

He was probably jealous of any man who paid attention to Suzanne. If he knew their marriage was ending, it probably made him furious thinking Suzanne would be independent and free to date other men. Imo

Who cares if he hired women or men or short or tall. Yes, I understand the game playing and showmanship that goes on for the jury, but that won't cover a strong case if the prosecution has one.

And if they are willing to go forward with no body, I think they have a strong case.

I find the gender discussion dated to be honest. It's not 1985 anymore. It's not strange to have women lawyers in the courtroom.

Could very well be. The 8 people are all LE, CBI, or FBI & 1 person from the DA’s office.

Lamine Mullenax - Chaffee Co Sheriff Deputy
Alex Walker - Chief Investigator - DA’s Office
Derek Graham - CBI
Joe Cahill - CBI
Robin Burgess - CBI
Jonny Grusing - Special Agent FBI
Kenneth Harris - FBI

EBM to include more information
^^bbm

I've still not seen any MSM providing the agency for Kenneth Harris yet (one of two individuals where sources were cited as unavailable).

What I found interesting is that the tampering with physical evidence and the weapon charge cover the same time frame- May 9, 2020 to March 4, 2021.
The PP home sold on March 3, 2021. I just find the dates interesting and think that it means something significant, thinking out loud.
These 2 charges cover same time span makes me feel like they’re directly related to the murder charge. Maybe the weapon was found at the PP property after it sold? Hidden/Buried there somewhere?
At any rate, I’m going to read the court documents in more depth tomorrow when my brain is fresh.

Ugh, I hate the thought of Suzanne possibly being shot. Actually, none of the options are good and don’t like the thought of what this poor, beautiful soul must have endured/her fate.
I just hope whatever did happen, she didn’t see it coming. That her last moments on earth, she wasn’t staring evil in the face.

Just jumping off your post...

I think it would be interesting if the new owners of the PP house has a dog...
and if that hypothetical dog was digging in his/her new yards...
and discovered/dug up some new evidence...

I trust the effectiveness of the search dogs used prior...
but... pups left to their own devices can find/do some very interesting things! (In my OWN experience with fur babies!)

All... just a thought...

Registration. Did he or didn't he?
Federal statute:* Possession of "Short Rifle" is a felony in US unless it is registered with ATF to the person who possesses it. Owner must also pay $200 tax.
If BM had one w'out registering it, it's a fed felony, which he's not
(yet) charged w.

CO statute:** a "short rifle" is a "dangerous weapon" and possession is a class 5 felony. If charged w possession, it is an affirmative defense if person has a "valid permit and license for it." Altho not specifying ATF reg, is that what CO law refers to? If so, if BM provides proof of ATF fed. registration, to prosecutor now or at trial, and if registration was in force/covered May 9, 2020 and March 4, 2021 period, then no violation of CO statute, in Count 4 of Complaint & Information.***

Had BM registered this gun w ATF? Step right up, Sleuthers, and place your bets.:D

I always love reading your organized and thoughtful posts, Alpine!

I have a feeling the courts would not have put the charges on the record without searching deeply for the answer to if BM registered that weapon or not...

I think they already have that answer...

But... I have been wrong before... and will most probably be so in the future, as well... :)

I wonder how long it will be for the AA, since the new attorneys may request more time. Could Barry possibly get out on bail? I can’t decide if I think they are piling on charges, or if there is a very strong Murder One case.

When I listened to the press conference announcing Barry’s arrest, it sounded like LE really sat down and went over every piece of evidence with Stanley-an extremely detailed presentation that laid it all out. This wasn’t some rush to judgement. It felt almost like they had a trial of their evidence before deciding to charge. I found it telling in Barry’s conversation with Lauren that he said there was no evidence. Odd thing to blurt out.

PPP Loan Investigator: Mr. Morphew why did you fraudulently claim you had nine “employees?”

<modsnip: name changes not allowed> Morphew: Why not? Everyone else was doing it and I really needed the money. MOO

Gotta admit, the charges about the ballot are delicious.

On a serious note, they also show a disregard for both his wife as her own person to vote in her own way and a disregard for following the rules. Most of us don't cheat with ballots because it goes against our sense of right and wrong -we value our intgrity to do the honest thing. He has different values, imo.
