Back to the gun, if it was something legal in Indiana and he brought with him when they moved and it happened to be illegal in Colorado, it's a complete smokescreen by the prosecutor to detract from a circumstantial case.

I spent decades around hunters, in hunting camp, on boats with guys (and gals) with guns, etc. Believe me, they all knew the intricacies of what was legal with firearms, with collecting, with the type of ammo allowed in the various kinds of hunting, and ways to get around the rules or when it was safe to just ignore the rules. If a sawed off rifle or shotgun was illegal, everyone knew it, teenagers through gramps.

I would also think that the defense attorneys require a hefty down payment.

JMO.
Yes I would think so, unless they doing it for publicity which I don’t believe.

Can I just say here, as maybe some point of light in all of this - from what has come forth - it did seem that Suzanne was excited and looking forward to living in gorgeous Salida. Even with things going downhill in the marriage - I completely believe that she was sticking with it and trying her best. We have learned what a wonderful and positive person she was. All of this is beyond heart breaking !! But, I for one am going to remember her as living her life in a place pretty close to heaven !! And I bet she did love it there and only wanted things to improve. RIP gorgeous Colorado gal !!!!!!!!

Well the charge included the word "knowingly" so we will see.

BM
But then notice the charge says he unlawfully, feloniously and knowingly possessed a dangerous weapon in violation of state law. Obviously he knew he had the weapon but does that mean he also knew it was unlawful to own it, and also that it was a felony to own it? I suspect that is what it means, since I think most folks know owning modified weapons are illegal, even if you can't recite the criminal code for it. But, if the investigation also uncovered evidence that he knowingly purchased it illegally (dark web fits in here), that would explain the wording of that charge.

jmo
Hunters know the rules, absolutely. But I was wondering about the "shotgun" he was said to be brandishing that day of Andy's search, when he was installing cameras on the perimeter of his property. And hers, sadly. Maybe it wasn't a shotgun at all, but was photographed and was actually a sawed off rifle?

Don't get mad at me guys. I'm still a little uneasy at thinking of the jury watch all those blue eyes in a sea of blonde hair and wide eyed gorgeousness. Oh no, I'm not cynical.

RSBM Sorry, I have no idea what this means. Can you explain?

It has to be related to the home sale. It’s too coincidental with how the dates line up for it not to be.

I wonder if more information and evidence about the case was found after the second PP search warrant but LE didn’t have enough for a judge to grant a 3rd search warrant. However, maybe the new owners consented to a search right after they closed on the home and LE went right to what the needed to find on that property on March 4th.

I also find the dates interesting. IF it is related to the home sale, it could be something uncovered during a renovation. Perhaps an out-of-state buyer whose contractors immediately began renovating after closing. If bleach WAS heavily used in the house, I hate to think of what could exist under flooring etc.
Out-of-state cash buyers are competing like crazy in my state for the limited houses available. I know I’d want to lighten and brighten a house like that if I owned it. Just a random theory and all IMO. The AA will be very interesting. I’m still not sure if I will be able to handle it.

Edited to fix a typo

Sorry if I had already posted the last message. Still learning how to navigate !! And I want to dedicate a song to Suzanne. I am not sure how to tag it here - with rules of internet and you-tube. But go look it up on You Tube. John Denver - Rocky Mountain High ( from The Wildlife Concert ) I am quite sure that Suzanne listened to this. I just have a very strong feeling that she did !! It is a pure Colorado song !! Although the lyrics suggest that it is written for a male - it never mattered to me ( gal ) when I grew up out there. It is a gorgeous song and it shares what it means to LOVE the Rocky Mountains !!!! And I believe very much that Suzanne did just that !!

This is a man who, aside from far more heinous actions, filed his dead wife's ballot because he wanted Trump to win.

I think it's safe to say, his idiot level ranks exceptionally high.

I also think we'll see much more evidence of that, when the AA is finally released.

jmo
I agree. With the charges that have already been filed, I'm guessing he has made all kinds of mistakes, which is probably why the AA is alleged to be quite lenghthy. IMO, this doesn't come as a surprise though because BM appears to be one of those people who thinks they know everything and nobody else knows nothing. This was my first impression of him and hubby says now, I think you nailed that one! He thinks he's quite a shaker and a mover and so macho but he's really an idiot who doesn't know half of what he thinks he does and he's probably in the beginning stages of realizing this now as the charges just keep adding up.
Maybe he should have listened to some more true crime podcasts and instead of just listening to them while on his hunting trips, maybe he should have tuned in to those also while in his bob cat. With a pair of those headsets/ear protection, he could've accomplished 2 things - listening to his true crime podcasts and protecting his hearing. (Not that I give a rat's behind - as Judge Judy would say - about his hearing!!!) JMO

RSBM Sorry, I have no idea what this means. Can you explain?
It means 2 beautiful young daughters sitting in the row just behind Barry. Barry with his own blue eyes, blonde hair, macho man body, and flanked by 2 blue-eyed beautiful women attorneys. Actually am not sure if the daughters have blue eyes, but I just saw a pic of the gorgeous attys, yep big blue eyes. It's just a cynical attitude, I guess I should state IMO IMO IMO at how the jury can be influenced by these things. We talked about it a little yesterday.

They'll take the money and the notoriety imo. ;)

The short rifle thing is really eating at me.

The whole purpose of them, was to trim the barrel down for concealment purposes.
They're NOT used in hunting (by normal hunters, anyway) and they're not accurate for long range shots. (this is all according to MK's guest today, Pete Gagliardi, retired senior agent - ATF)

So what does that leave?
A collector's item?
Inherited?
Used for purely intimidation tactics?
Was this one of those mid-life crisis purchases like a sports car?

Thoughts?
Maybe BM used this gun in a crime elsewhere?

Unfortunately, what comes to my mind per the gun is Andy saying that he thought Suzanne had been "abducted" and "murdered." And that always made me feel like maybe Barry stalked Suzanne the night he murdered her. So it might not have been used for hunting, except in the case of his wife. Makes me sick to type. I think he walked up to her with a hidden weapon (the gun), whether inside or outside the house, and he shot her, before she knew what was coming.
I hope he did not terrorize her.

I recall the house listing not including pictures of the kitchen or parts of the kitchen and the garage I believe it was. Maybe Barry took something with him from that house.. removed something like the flooring or counter of some type in from the kitchen and they were able to charge him once the house was empty or sold and the new owner had it since it was no longer Barry's property and they could charge him with removing that item(s) to prevent the discovery of a crime. I just keep thinking they did search that house though so what would be not obvious to LE that would also be something Barry felt the need to take or remove from the home before it was sold.

Such a beautiful song for a tribute. I’m pretty sure she listened to the song because it’s an anthem for those who are lucky enough to live in the Colorado Rockies.

Good to see that Lauren Scharf is back on the case. Remember when she abruptly and inexplicably stopped reporting before the volunteer search got underway? And how baffled we were by her absence? Now that BM is behind bars, she's back.

I wonder if she was covertly or overtly threatened? Just speculating.
Sounds very plausible.

I wonder if he had heard about his lawyers in any of his podcasts, and had that pre-planned, too.

I keep going back to SM talking to her friend on the phone and it abruptly ended. Was it texting or on the phone? Anyway, I wonder if BM suddenly pulled a rifle on SM and if so, had he ever done it before? Just wondering if SM had been able to talk him down from something like this before.

Barry fumbles his words frequently in Lauren's sound bites :)
Chaffee County announces new charges against Barry Morphew | FOX21 News Colorado
  • I'm not going on camera, I'm NOT going on camera, I won't do it.
  • I'm devastated she is gone, I am devastated.
  • It has crushed me that I cannot find her and don't know what happened to her.
  • I understand, I understand, that the FBI has to look at me because of the statistics and the percentages and I have put up with that from them, I have done it.
  • She's gone, that's why I think she was (word fumble) abducted.
  • If she's gone and I can't find her around the house, then someone's taken her.
  • My wife is probably the most beautiful woman in this county, and any bad guy would do that if they had the opportunity.
  • How do we know someone didn't hit her on her bike and kill her and was on drugs or alcohol and freaked out and vanished and took her.
  • How do we know anything because all the evidence right there is gone Lauren.
What does it mean when someone repeatedly repeats words o_O
His words "she" "her." One time in all of that, he says "my wife." A little disconnection there Barry? It seems rather obvious that there is lots of it! JMO
