I will agree the motivation was financial, but I think it had been brewing for some time and had reached critical mass. I feel the impending sale of the IN property was going to reveal a major financial shortfall, perhaps a large Line of Credit (maxed out) secured against the property that needed to be satisfied upon sale that Suzanne was unaware of. Add to that, Barry’s willingness to defraud the government by applying for a loan he was not entitled to, likely gave Suzanne concern if she found out or perhaps she would also be implicated in the fraud as an “officer” of the business LLC. MM made a remark about “living within one’s means.” Perhaps Suzanne had come to terms with the fact that BM had been putting on a show and had them living BEYOND what they could truly afford all the while working day and night, or so he said. We also have no idea what kind of insurance coverage they had for her cancer treatments. Add to that a daughter in college, living away from home, a business that may not have taken off in CO, fancy house, fancy cars, fancy clothes, fancy vacations. Fancy that! Just a whole lot of money being spent with only one income. According to MM, the relationship had been in decline for a few years. Financial stress will do that especially if one partner is unwilling to face up to the impending disaster.

Those “happy” pics all over social media that made their way into MSM were a few years old. That alone speaks volumes. The AA will too. I suspect SM was done with the marriage and so was BM only he wasn’t willing to give up what he could still take from Suzanne, her money, and to do that he decided he needed to take her life. Sick. The love of money, is the root of all evil. Barry loves money, and was willing to murder to get it.

All MOO.
Agree. And Barry was in control of all their decisions, including financial.

I don’t think Poncha Market manager was being honest with CM. He’s an “outsider”. MOO and my feeling she wasn’t being truthful about not knowing BM. My 2cents
Is it possible that they actually did still have cctv evidence which they have passed to LE? But said they did not for fear of reprisal from BM.

Here are some more 5's -
BM's father was buried on 5/5/2006.

I also remember there were 5 different social media apps that the popo sent out as a request to anyone that had corresponded with Suzanne using them to contact them. What the names were of the 5 escapes me.

Or because they were asked to keep the matter confidential. I imagine the police have asked various people to not mention different things ... for example, Melinda not stating exactly what was in that last communication with Suzanne.

You’re correct. The trash hunt was on Tuesday and the personal item, widely suspected to be the bike helmet, was found on Thursday off Hwy 50, just west of 225.

Will be happy once we finally know the facts about 1. the trash-hunt and 2. exactly what LE found. I've always thought one piece of evidence found was an article of clothing. Only because in the TD video, BM referred to "an article" found by LE. I always thought that was an interesting way to phrase it.

The number 5 is extremely prevalent in this case. Strange!
CCSO announcement was on the 6 month anniversary of SM missing

I hate to even put this out there. But this new defense team will most likely try to get BM out on bond first. Claiming he has no prior record. Claiming he is hard working in the area. Claiming he has children in the area that are at certain critical educational points in their lives. Claiming that it is only fair for him to be able to help them during all of this. Oh - I can see the list and all of the legal fights that will now march forth from his new legal team. Wait and watch. He may well get out on a bond with a million and an ankle bracelet. IMO - He will split south before you can warm your morning coffee.

If I was the DA I would counter with 2 words Fotis Dulos

PS I also wouldn’t put past him going out a la Josh Powell.

Good post, and it gave me a new thought/possibility/motive to act when he did. Maybe the pending sale/transaction of their Indiana home, which was quickly approaching meant that Suzanne then would have funds from the sale that she may have been anticipating/waiting on so that she could then make a life of her own, and if this was the case, I feel it's highly likely BM knew this by either him and Suzanne discussing it and/or something like this was mentioned/referenced in Suzanne's text to her sister Friday, which all of this just now gave me another thought - possibly BM had purposely been delaying the finality of that actual transaction as he knew and/or suspected Suzanne was relying on that money so she could move on without him. It is JMO, but BM is more likely than not a very controlling person, whether it be good times or bad times as that's his nature, so Suzanne may have had little or no access to any funds, if there were even any funds available. Also, this is JMO and I may very well be wrong about this, but as many of us have said, the motive will prove to be money and he (BM) knew he was running out of time to carry out his plans of him removing Suzanne from the picture. And as an added note, I am 110% positive that prior to Suzanne's demise, he saw/read/knew what the text message(s) between Suzanne and her sister on Friday said. JMO
BBM for emphasis
Scary thought about him knowing what was in the message to her sister. Can you imagine the rage a person like him could go into? Scary as all heck. Poor Suzanne. I can’t even think about her last moments. Just moo.

BM sold all properties and really has no ties to the area other than his daughters. He’s an extreme flight risk. I hope he’s not released on bail. I agree with the Fotis Dulos referenced by @Janeumayer MOO

If out on bond - this guy will ride like the wind in a Christopher Cross song !! JMO.

Great post @susiQ Well said. Her cancer treatments had to be expensive, even with insurance theres costs to cover. COVID hit, lots of small businesses were hurt. What a sad situation.

I took an introductory course in Forensic Psychology a couple of years ago, and the coverage of jurors and juries was surprisingly extensive. Maybe not so surprising come to think about it, given the stakes involved in some of their decisions.

Your post sound like what the studies call a verdict-driven style of decision making: about 30% of juries take a vote shortly after they begin deliberations and then orient their subsequent discussions around the verdict options. This style tends to encourage the jurors to sort the evidence into two categories: supporting conviction or supporting acquittal. These juries spend less time reviewing and discussing evidence than the legal ideal suggests. Once a vote has been taken, there is a tendency for jurors to focus on defending their individual positions.

Other juries adopt an evidence-driven style, in which the first vote is postponed after jurors have had a careful, systematic discussion of the evidence. This style tends to produce richer, more probing discussions.

I found the course fascinating, and I hope to pursue these studies further someday.
Interesting information on jury deliberation. Thank you.

BM arrested 5/5/21- 5 days after SM’s 5-0 birthday and 5 days before the 1 year anniversary of SM “missing”. For the record, I’m not a superstitious person but recognize all the 5’s connected to the case, albeit coincidental, are interesting.

The next “5” I look forward to is, “5”/27/21.

This is serious with BM's attorneys and what some serious bank can buy. Dru Nielson worked it out pretty well with the DA in the Kelsey Berreth murder. Krystal Lee Kenney was indeed a parciptant to that murder and yet somehow got off with a class 6 felony. And then - obviously Dru was still in the loop to find that the judge did not adjudicate fairly in KK's sentence. So even less time for KK. It is sickening. Beyond sickening. KK watched Kelsey's body burn and went back to Idaho like nothing the F happened. Just watch these attorney's now.

Yes.
With KK the DA was stuck needing testimony from the aid and abettor.

KK being out of jail right now. When that news broke, I commented does the DA have egg on their face right now or are her attorney(s) that good? IMO
