I guess Barry didn’t spend much time at home “making the wife happy” after he left the beach. And he must have lied to LE about when he did the mechanical thing to the bobcat. He boxed himself into a timeline with LE that they know is a lie.

It'll be interesting to learn what the mechanic has to say (interview/testimony) about what went on with BM's bobcat that day, where he was getting the work done. I mean, that was Saturday afternoon. Was that work part of the premeditation charge? I have to lean toward it definitely possibly being part of that charge, since even he sort-of-halfway admitted that he lied about it. Folks don't bother lying about the true parts of their alibis, just the fake parts.

Perhaps he wanted a guy on the job since maybe it was just too big of a job for just he and MG.

That makes sense. What doesn't make sense is asking a guy who already has a job.
Too bad he couldn't ask one of his 9 imaginary employees.

It was one piece of mail in the hotel room (not multiple pieces).

"I didn't find the piece of mail till next morning" (he was throwing something into the bathroom trash, and what he threw bounced out.)

"I seen him Saturday morning here" (at his workshop) "around lunchtime, 1, 2. He was right here getting his bucket fixed" (bobcat bucket)

"Saturday evening, it was between 4 and 5, 6, he was down there getting some stuff" (JP had spoken with the people with the fireplace)

"Oh I didn't get there till Sunday night" (the hotel)
"I was working with Jeff .. so why would you ask me when you know I got a job"
"I called Barry and said 'do you need me there'? He said yep"

"He paid me, he paid all three of us"

Did the towels smell like chlorine? "No, the room, the room did"
"Weeks later I was talking to the people with the fireplace, they must have bought chlorine, I'm just guessing"
Something about Barry being there, then "When I mixed chlorine for them, they kind of looked at each other" (the fireplace people, and BM) "So they sound like he must have bought chlorine there"

He went home Tuesday lunchtime, after doing the best they could do on the wall without more tools.

BBM. There’s a lot to unpack in this JP interview, more than others in the past. Good on LS.

I wonder when the bobcat bucket was damaged that needed repaired so quick? Could he have messed it up Friday night when he was at the job site with the beach? Or did he move some great big boulders at home that damaged it? Makes one wonder! MOO

I want to think that, too, but he's been charged with premeditated murder. Maybe he only planned it a day in advance, but the State of Colorado believes he didn't kill her accidentally or in a fit of rage.
I've always thought she was killed on Saturday night, but it's also possible that he killed her on Saturday morning. That would explain his strange behavior on the jobsite, his leaving early and then running around town. It also might explain his visit to the store between 4:00-6:00, if it's true that he bought chlorine, (now we know where CM got his info from) and his changing or fixing the bucket on the bobcat. Of course all of that could have been part of planning for the murder as well.

The only thing that doesn't fit is the conversation that allegedly took place between SM and her friend on Saturday, unless it actually took place on Friday. Did we ever find out which day the wedding was?

Anyway, it sounds like an awful lot of preplanning before a murder. Most people don't think that far ahead, but then again it sounds like Barry is very meticulous. Imo

Yes, what if no-one had found that piece of mail in the bathroom trash. Before the trash was removed by housekeeping.
And maybe the hotel didn't have CCTV to show BM's comings and goings?
JP mentioned something about some tools being in the hotel foyer ... "from last year". (He is not easy to understand, even when slowed down)

Though I sometimes wonder if BM wanted his witnesses away from the home area, so the police couldn't talk to them right away (or maybe ever). Being that he had the bobcat bucket fixed on Saturday at JPs, and had Morgan call JP to go to work on Sunday. Why didn't he ask JP himself when he saw him on Saturday?
At 31:07 when LS asked if BM left any tools for the job I understood JP to say something like “ as far as the shelves in the lobby” and something about “rakes”. Then when he mentions “ last year “ he is talking about the wall they were supposed to repair because it had failed and BM had originally done the work last year.

Remember in LS interview with MG she said that the only tools BM left them were a bunch of things that looked like BM just dumped out of his truck onto a hotel cart? I’m guessing that is what JP means by “shelves”. Weird that BM would leave in the lobby and not the room IMO.

Did I mis-hear, or did he say he already had a job, and BM knew that, but he asked him anyway to head to Denver so he had to figure out a way to help him out? He did say that, right?

I'm sure that's what I heard but now I can't find the time stamp. Grr.

ETA: I found it and yep, that's what he said:

29:16 LS asks "so then on Sunday what time did you arrive at the hotel?"
JP responds and says he didn't get there until Sunday night, but then digresses and says that BM asked MG, to ask him to go down there and work, and then says that he was working for Jeff, and say he wonders why he'd ask him that since he already has a job.

I never really gave much credence to the idea that BM wanted JP there at the hotel, because they look alike at a distance, but now... I mean, maybe some of y'all were on to something?

Why did he specifically want JP there, when he knew JP already had a job?

Also interesting is that we were previously told that BM asked JP himself, on Saturday afternoon, to come work for him on the Broomfield job. But that's not what JP says in this interview. He did see him that afternoon, at the shop JP currently works at, but he said BM asked MG, to ask him to join the crew.

Anyway I think that's what I'm hearing him say. His accent is top shelf! :)

JP and BM do look alike. I think your on to something.

I got the impression he (JP) said that when he mentioned chlorine, to the fireplace & spa folks, they both looked at each other with an odd expression, the way you might do if you were maybe thinking "how in the world did he know BM bought chlorine from us that night?"

Anyone else hear it that way?
I watched the video but I am a little confused by the couple looking at each, so your saying JP knew somehow? Ugh please help me out guys.

Yes, it is good to hear it right from him ... instead of translated by MSM.

The 'fireplace' place thing is interesting too. Late arvo. Before or after Suzanne was murdered? Premeditated chlorine purchase (potentially), or after-murder chlorine purchase (potentially).

Maybe this has been mentioned and/or answered already, because I am behind on the thread, but how do we know BM doesn't drink? TIA
I think Suzanne's stepbrother said he may have had a beer once and a while but wasn't a regular drinker. Andy said BM was anti-drug city, was against SM using medical marijuana, but didn't mention anything about alcohol. Imo

Didn’t he say bucket or blade and that he wasn’t sure?

I think he just assumed BM bought chlorine there because later when he asked the store owners if he did he said they looked at each other in an odd way. Maybe they just thought it was a strange question. So there's no evidence he bought chlorine, or if he did, what it was used for. He may have been buying it for the hot tub or for a job. Imo

This makes so much sense!

Why omit that errand when providing a timeline to LE? Was BM afraid that errand would appear suspicious?

And why knock-off work early in order to go home to "make the wife happy" only to appear somewhere else in need of bucket repair?

I always assumed that BM was "doing something mechanical" to his Bobcat around midnight Saturday- Sunday when the neighbor awoke. But ... now I see other possibilities. What was BM's demeanor at the shop, I wonder?

We are learning more and more. Tantalizing bits that only make us wonder just how much evidence of guilt exists.

I think maybe because JP smelled the chlorine in the room and put two and two together, and the couple were probably surprised that JP would know he purchased chlorine. That’s what I’m thinking anyway! Lol

I’m more curious than ever now to hear what BM said in his 3-30 hours he gave to LE. How did he describe his and SM’s comings and goings in the days before her disappearance? What did he tell them they did on Saturday? Because even if he wasn’t a POI and it was just a missing person case they would ask that of the last person who reportedly saw her (repeatedly). Imo

JP when talking about “the couple looking at each other” is referencing the couple that work (own) the “spa & fireplace store”. When JP mentioned chlorine from the hotel, the couple looked at each other like maybe BM had just bought chlorine from their store. My interpretation of it.

Absolutely. And if BM’s story was that he went home and took SM “biking or hiking” then he would’ve been caught in a huge lie because he was fixing his bobcat and shopping! o_O

Maybe he knew the owner of the garage was away turkey hunting and wanted to get JP out of the way so he could go in and do whatever he needed done with no one around to witness it.

I think that it was premeditated. I believe that Barry had it planned if she didn't go back down. I also think that he put her in a place that he had picked out as a good place to hide a body so that it would never be found.

He had to scramble with a last minute alibi after he discovered his FF event was canceled due to Covid. Of course, this is just my speculation.

I think he might have said rakes and shovels in the lobby? But then also at some point I think he mentioned buying rakes and shovels? JMO

Yes okay thanks for verifying I was hearing correctly. Curious, I think.

You don't offer someone a temp job when you already know they have a job.
I mean, who does that? o_O

If Barry was preparing to conceal a crime and realized JP witnessed him, Barry would have desperate reason to get JP as far away from Salida as he could get him. IMO THAT'S WHY Barry had MG pull him away to Broomfield for a nonjob.
