Barry Morphew stands and smiles at his mom and daughters who are in the courtroom again today. One of his daughter’s whispers to Barry, ‘You look so good.’ Barry tears up.

I'm assuming JL has a solid alibi or we'd have heard about him long before now.
So then, for those who follow cases and know how this little game works, what exactly is the defense's strategy bringing all this up? I mean other than to bash Suzanne and make Barry look like a poor victim.
Pure guess, but I would say that they're trying to establish that SM was capable of keeping secrets from everyone she was closest to. That will give them room to pursue an argument that she either disappeared voluntarily or that she had another secret relationship that led to her disappearance on the 10th after Barry left. (LE wouldn't even know about JL if he hadn't been accidentally recorded on the spy pen, so who knows what other relationships they don't know about? etc) The focus on her dna being on the security camera cables also helps those stories. The implication being she either disabled them to hide someone coming over or she disabled them so they wouldn't record her leaving. And the missing cash they're talking about this morning. And the secret bank account.

Of course, none of those theories explain BM doing lots of strange stuff on Saturday afternoon/Sunday evening. Or why SM would be telling JL she loves him on Saturday afternoon, and then disappearing and never contacting him again. Or meeting up with another man. Or why Suzanne would be so concerned about her daughters in her text messages, but then decide to disappear and never speak to them again. But sometimes the best defense theory isn't a particularly good theory. Facts can be inconvenient.

Now we need to see how strong the prosecution's evidence is for those inconvenient facts.

Yesterdays news just made me so angry, sad, and hopeless. Idk exactly why. I hate getting emotionally involved in these cases I archive.

BBMfrom an angel like you.”- potential undertones to the dangerous game they both were possibly aware of?
Sounds to me like he was just trying to belittle, denigrate, and gaslight her into thinking she was the bad guy in the situation, so she would have doubts about leaving. I know that tactic well.

Still a wonder- why would the person she was having an affair with not have come forward much earlier... (or did he?)
I can think of many reasons.

Fear of Barry.. fear for his family If Barry was this controlling, it's hard to say what he has threatened that we haven't seen a text about or hear about. Suzanne was confiding in him for 2 years. He had seen some texts at some point because they switched to a different method of talking after Suzanne told him Barry saw some messages. Then his daughter saw some and they quit talking for a little while. I think fear. Maybe he felt him coming forward to draw attention to him and he knew 100% he wasn't involved. I know I am one to assume LE will figure it out, so maybe he felt it would be easy for LE to figure out what happened. Then the long you wait the harder it might be to come forward. I think the fact he cooperated when he was contacted and didn't try to hide then is a good sign. Protecting Suzanne's girls maybe a physical thing as well.. maybe he feared coming forward would put them in harm if Barry found out and was still free. It's hard to say and of course not ruining his own life would be a huge factor. Doesn't make it right, but it doesn't mean he didn't care for Suzanne and wish things turned out differently.

IMO, none of the stuff the defense is focusing on or bringing to light is exculpatory or even relevant to whether evidence exists that warrants binding BM over for trial.

Their agenda is twofold. First, to simply to make sure everyone knows that SM wasn’t the saint that media portrayed her as. (I never believed she was. She’s an imperfect human as are we all.) MSM will latch on to the salacious revelations at the expense of the boring but important details that will make the case against BM.

And second, to delay the progress of the PH by using as much time as they can get away with in their cross and by raising topics that they hope the prosecution will spend precious time on rebutting or clarifying.

Judge Murphy is being far too lenient with them IMO. But I trust he is able to sort the wheat from the chaff. It’s still the states game to lose, for sure.

@MassGuy or @Seattle1

How is Barry in civilian clothes? PF was in stripes during his Prelim. Did his defense get special permission somehow?

We have JL sending nice messages, with understanding her pain on Mother’s Day, and then wishing her well for her cancer treatment.

Meanwhile BM made sure SM would never see another Mother’s Day. And held the cost of cancer treatment over her head. And likely just did not care about her or the way she felt about anything.

yeah, JL is not some big hero in this story, but the differences in treatment/speaking to SM is so different. Still glad that SM had slight comfort from someone, anyone, towards the end.

(It’s not lost on me that JL kept messaging her after she was gone. It just makes me feel even sadder.)

Have the girls been able to visit him? Does he get any visitors?

It was said one of the girls showed him her long hair so I thought he must not have seen them at all.

I just thought they would have seen each other.

Agree to all of that. Still, you have material information to the murder of a women you loved and you know who did it, you would think that you would have at least privately have made a connection.

Only interesting bit I caught from Lauren's feed is that Agent Harris said she spoke to MM early in the investigation but she was unavailable to interview again later. o_O

Age makes no difference. Any husband would say that.
Mine wouldn't I can guarantee you that, and he's pretty fierce when it comes to protecting me.

I am concerned about the amount of witnesses/days.
