"On May 9, phone is pinged near the river behind his home. Investigators asked why this..."

11:50am to 12:50pm

What was he doing?

BM left the home at 1:38 p.m. SM sends a message to Libler saying "Guess who is alone again?? at 2:03

I'm stumped on this. Any takers on what he was doing??

I don't mean looking for a dead turkey.
:0)

Is the house/sunbathing door viewable from the river? Setting up or indeed removing a game cam used to spy on her?

Checking a trail cam aimed at his wife?

I wonder if he had anything on her phone that tracked keystrokes.

Ah sorry, replied without reading the rest of the posts. Great minds.

This is quite profound. Barry actually brought up the fact that he had a .22 in his hands at or about the same time Suzanne's last communication occurred...and with Suzanne at home at that time? So Barry, his rifle and Suzanne are confirmed to have been together at a specific time...and the information was supplied by Barry himself after the FBI agent asked him what he was doing. That is quite amazing to me.

Yup. And LE found a tranquilizer dart cap in the dryer and a 4 pack of tranquilizer darts with one missing. Presumably in the trash where BM admitted to disposing of tranquilizer material.

So I just had a thought:

According to yesterday’s testimony, Barry brought up the excuse of shooting chipmunks, to explain his phone movements around the time Suzanne is believed to have been murdered.

He waited an astounding 9 months to reveal this to investigators.

Now, we know a tranquilizer cap was found in the dryer, and one dart from a pack of 4 was missing (Carol McKinley tweet I posted earlier).

The FBI agent was interested in what weapon Barry was using to hunt chipmunks, as he knew that a 22 could fire those tranquilizers.

Interestingly, the “short rifle” charge is dated between May 9, and March 4 of the following year.

I think this tranquilizer shooting 22 rifle, may in fact be the “short rifle” in the weapons charge.

It’s interesting that the chipmunk story and weapon charge date is so close in time.
There are some pics here of guns that can shoot tranquilising darts. They call them 'projectors'.

Products – Cap-Chur

For general information, air guns are not categorized as firearms. Thus, they are not regulated in the same way. "Projectors" helps denote the difference.

I don't believe he left tools in the lobby. I think he brought two tools into the lobby in order to ask at the reception desk if it would be ok to leave tools in the room for the employees coming later.

When the wall employees were interviewed didn't they comment on the tools left in the room, saying they weren't even the right tools for the job?

After he got the hotel's ok, I think it's safe to assume he then carried the tools into his room. And possibly carried in other tools in addition to the shovel/rake/whatever that stopped in the lobby first.

MOO

In a talk with Lauren Scharf, JP (one of the employees) said that the tools were left in the hotel lobby.
(It came out in June, and I was just reflecting back on it again, as being a "known" thing. Sorry about that.)

I watched it again to find the time stamp, and actually he said a couple of shovels and a rake; and perhaps indicated a few other things.

(. . .and lots more in the whole video)

Great video.

Regarding BM’s vehicle data. When he arrived home around 2:43pm that Saturday. Was the log on his truck that the door was only opened but not closed? Does anyone know?

I believe so.... to avoid detection IMO. No car door slamming. I wonder if he coasted....

One might think that he would park farther away and army crawl in, but IMO he wanted his truck home from 3pm onward.

After he was home for soup, he must've made a display of leaving...

Spends an hour on reconnaissance .... was it fortuitous that she was sunbathing? What had been his plan? Why not earlier, like at lunch? Why not later, like while she slept?

Unless... something made him so incredibly angry in the moment, he triggered...

‘Holly’ is MM1’s college roommate and BFF.

There sure are a lot of Hollys associated with this family. I think that makes 3 of them?

(I notice it because I don't know one Holly. It is not a common name in my neck of the woods.)

Thank You for all these cool pix. It really adds extra context. Salida looks like a quaint but quirky little town. I love it.

It is! So many cool stores downtown and a really cool vibe. Quaint but quirky is a perfect way to describe it. :)

The key word is "unusual". Where they lived, gunshot sounds were NOT necessarily unusual. It was rural with a lot of acreage between homes.

If an air gun (projector) were used or the dart was held in hand, it would be "virtually silent".

I thought I remembered that his car door didn’t close when he arrived.

I get the feeling that as you mentioned, he did this to avoid detection. I also think BM used find my phone on SM to know her location just as she did with him. I believe BM turned his phone on airplane mode so she wouldn’t know that he was home if she checked.

I think he spoofed those texts and SM had no idea he was coming home. BM rolls up quietly, phone in airplane mode and gets out of the truck without closing the door.

He possibly has the .22 short rifle and tranquilizers stashed away in the back yard. He creeps around to be undetected, gets the weapon and then sneaks around the yard until he can get a clear shot of her.

There may be more but the two that I recall are..

Holly W. who is Suzanne’s good friend from Indiana and the person would made the touching 50th birthday video for Suzanne.

Holly B. is MM1’s best friend, traveling partner and college roommate.

So BM uses any random device, and enters Suzanne’s email. He clicks “forgot my password,” and has a code sent to her phone. Perhaps she has my phone set like I do, where certain things pop up on my screen, even if my phone is locked. He enters that code on the device he is using, and voila.

We’re almost certain to hear a heck of a lot more about this in two weeks.
By doing that how would her phone respond, if it's still locked but in use would it show on her history as active? Could that have been one of the phone tower pings? Curious about this.

Can spoofing be detected by LE? Thx in advance.

shovels and a rake? just the right tools for "finishing touches"....cosmetic use after burying something. And I think Barry wanted other hands to be on those tools after his were.....in order to contaminate the evidence and "screw it up"..and this after those tools were cleaned. Check and double-check.

Im also wondering if they could get water or electricity records to show an approximate time of when laundry was done. With the girls out of town all week, I’d imagine there was less laundry being done. So there could be a spike in both water and electricity at some odd hour Saturday late at night.

Although, maybe I’ve just watched too many movies.
I spent time googling that but found nothing definitive. Get out of my head lol!

I think the Holly B confuses me ... this article says "(Holly B) said she and Suzanne became friends as their daughters began spending time together. “She’s lots of fun and likes to things with the girls, and that is why I don’t think she would have left on her own,” “Those girls mean too much to her to do that.” "

I don't know MM1's best friend's last name.

Someone linked Tyson's Draper video for me the other day because I wanted to find the interview with BM's Mama ---she spoke to Tyson briefly at the end, while she was waiting in the truck.

But the video that was linked was an edited version---and the end with Mama was cut off. That video said that Tyson took his original version offline---so if anyone has that original one, that we saw back at the start, let me know.

I am pretty sure that she made a verbal accusation that SM was messing around on her son.
I saw that Tyson made a comment on YouTube that he was not going to be on YouTube anymore and he no longer has the video, he did say Plundr had it but she may have been the one to edit it. I don’t know. I’m sure FBI has original, but maybe not.
I saw the video snd saw someone in BM’s truck but I never heard the conversation with her. Sorry I can’t help.
On a side note, I think we all wondered why BM was so wet. What was he looking for in the water? I’m curious if it had anything to do with him being near the River behind his home on May 9th?

I looked back at the article where BM says, “if one person got saved from this.” Full quote:

“This is the most devastating thing that has ever happened to me,” Barry explained. “But I have got to keep my faith and trust in God. And Suzanne trusted the Lord and if one person got saved from this, she would think it was worth it. And we are just a Godly, loving, caring, family and this thing is just a tragedy.”

‘People don’t know the truth’: Suzanne Morphew’s husband breaks silence after three months | FOX21 News Colorado

This language is typical in evangelical churches, and his context here is heavily religious. By “got saved”, I don’t think he means Earthly saving. I think he means eternal life saving. Basically, I think he’s parroting what he’s hearing from deeply religious family. Maybe the idea is that he and Suzanne were on a bad path, but this tragedy has led BM back to the path of the righteous.

It is super interesting that this quote would lead JL to suspect BM. I wonder if he shares the religion background.

MOO
I think JL might believe he was the one who got saved from being killed by BM.

In other words BM would have killed him first if he could get to him first. Instead one person was saved because BM took SM’s life. I feel when he states this that he is justifying not taking JL’s life and that Suzanne would have been okay with sacrificing her life to save JL’s. Jmo

I have never followed a case like this and watched the tweets coming in over the two days like everyone here (y'all were good company btw :)). I actually had tension in my shoulders and a heck of a headache by the end. It was like watching a horror movie where you're yelling at the tv to warn the main character danger is ahead. I feel wrecked for SM. IMO

I felt the same way both days. My anxiety was thru the roof and migraines both days. Even though I made a list of all the day 2 tweets, I didn't actually read them until late last night and today because I was so drained from Monday and Tuesday. Jmo
