I still can’t believe Barry told investigators that on the day of Suzanne’s disappearance he was outside their home shooting and killing animals with a gun. Of all of the things he could’ve said, I’m just flabbergasted. Why not say, “I was doing yard work, I was pulling weeds, I was exercising outside and doing calisthenics?”

On the last day his wife was verifiably alive, he offers to LE that he was killing things with a gun. What the heck? Did someone happen to see him outside with a gun, so he somehow wove that into the shooting chipmunks excuse?

That was a lovely weekend, early spring. There could have been many people out riding bikes or walking in that area.

Certainly someone would have taken notice of "85" shots and a woman reported missing the next day.

Or maybe he knows there are shell casings he missed and wants a plausible excuse.

Remember he had the girls call the neighbor lady. She evidently was home and certainly would have taken notice of that barrage.

JL. Still don’t like this guy. Check this out.

“Libler was planning a trip to Colorado in March of 2020, but the pandemic hit.”

SUZANNE MORPHEW: Preliminary hearing in Barry Morphew trial reveals new details | FOX31 Denver

March 2020:
“Jeff Libler, who took advantage of the cheap flights and flew in from Michigan with his four kids, had plans to go to the beach again Thursday.”

COVID-19 precautions: Beach access limits going up on miles of SWFL coast

SM should have traveled to Florida, and stayed there. She'd still be alive. MOO

Seems Libler's parents live there. From the link:

Libler has parents in Southwest Florida and wanted to give his daughters, who are competitive swimmers, a chance to continue training.

“I’m a little bummed out,” he said. “But it’s understandable.”

And Lauren caught even more to BM’s “ drunk eyes “ comment:

This picture is the last PROOF OF LIFE of #Suzannemorphew Barry looked at the photo and allegedly told investigators she looked drunk. Described her eyes as drunk eyes, "it would take the edge off for the night."

https://twitter.com/laurenscharftv/status/1425189024453517313?s=21

So she would be "drunk" or maybe "tranquilized" and easier to deal with for the rest of the night.

I shudder to think what he seems to be saying.

What the heck is that last quote supposed to mean!?

And yep you'd think he would cherish that last photo of her, looking so vibrant and alive - if he truly "loved her to death" as he claimed.
He’s a jerk and he’s mad because she “ made him do it “.
Oh, Suzanne.

Wonder if investigators just showed him the pic and said
This is the last selfie taken on your wife’s phone.

Or did they say Your wife texted this pic of herself to the man she was involved with.

Doesn’t matter. He’s a jerk.

I think he is so proud of his cleverness that he MUST have some memorial of it, some remembrance, some marked tree or rock, godforbid some photo or video.

Something to remind him of how smart and clever he was and how he conquered evil and saved his fortune from his "unfaithful" wife.

I just get the feeling there is a kind of a trophy of some sort somewhere.

Seems to me that SM did not realize the danger she was in. She wouldn't be the first that did not take her own advice. I think she used her mother's experience as her guide on how mom determined to leave SM's dad (Gene), and how she would go about doing this -- setting money aside, etc. SM could not let her head go to where BM would disappear her. MOO

.
I completely agree that she was afraid to see the danger she was in.
Many can say: Why didn’t she just leave?

After 32 years of marriage, even if they had a toxic relationship, it would still have been very difficult to start a new life. Change of that magnitude is difficult for anyone. She may have waffled back and forth many times about whether she could be on her own. He was in her head big time.

Why did she turn to another man?

Because she wanted to be loved and valued. She was isolated alone in Colorado. She obviously wanted her marriage to work out or she would not have moved to Colorado. She did not hook up with JL until 11/18 after they had been in CO for several months. I won’t crucify her for seeking love.

I'm not challenging it at all. I'm just curious about whether SM was actually sunbathing at that moment or if something else could have been up. It might put a different spin on it, if, say, it was a shot from a time she and SL had enjoyed together.
But it sounds as though it's not technically possible for that photo to have been taken unless SM had actually been sunbathing in that moment.

It seems odd to me to be sunbathing in early May in Colorado.

So, now, after a little search, I have historical weather data. Gunnison, CO Weather History | Weather Underground On May 9 at Gunnison-Crested Butte Airport, the max temperature was 64 degrees F at 3-6ish in the pm. (The program jumps to that location for historical data.), with a max wind speed of 21 mph. I don't think I'd be out there sunbathing.

While I was looking at that, in case this is relevant,..... I noticed the temperature was well below freezing at night, i.e. 25 degrees F. It was 25 degrees minimum average the whole of April. This may have presented some challenges if BM was out there digging stuff, because the ground might have been hard. It might also harden up footprints. Gunnison, CO Weather History | Weather Underground I'm not suggesting anyone might find the footprints (although they might), but more that BM might be paranoid about them.

Salida is a lot closer and in their own valley and was 70 degrees on 5/9/20.
Probably few degrees cooler up at their house.
33 degrees over night.

Maybe she'd used some medical MJ. Or is the whole "drunk eyes" just BM throwing shade, painting SM in a bad light? Everyone at the prelim saw the photo, I'd like to know their impression of the photo. MOO.

Really more of a last dig at the *B* that ruined all his plans. It's just such a nasty thing to say about the "angel" you supposedly loved.

I think most agree. And I think only the defense wants to crucify her. I'm so disappointed BM's lawyers wasted so much of the preliminary with this high school reconnection - they sure burned up judicial hours. (And BM's retainer)...

I believe he was talking about his lifetime count being 85. Like home runs.

Just watching this YouTube now.

We still haven’t heard what was found when the hotel room was processed. I think this is going to be big, and it’s going to answer some questions about the chlorine.

Color of item in trash bag was very similar in color to photo of Suzanne’s clothing on bike ride.

I get the impression they may have recovered some of this trash, as Barry wasn’t caught on camera two times. The truck would tell them that he stopped near a dumpster or something, but I feel they’d probably need to have collected the trash to know for a fact that’s what he did.

Why tell all these lies if you have nothing to hide?

Good point here. The staging was an obvious mistake as she didn’t take her camelback, sunglasses, and didn’t follow her usual routine according to Macy’s boyfriend.

“Suzanne having a boyfriend is not a death sentence.”

Suzanne’s notes, texts, and spy pen recordings are going to make Suzanne the best witness against Barry.

Lauren says Barry was told by one of Barry’s coworkers that Barry was constantly checking cameras at the home. So for them not to be working is very interesting.

Why is Suzanne’s phone away from the house at 423 when she was still in bed when he left? If true, this is massive.

Chris thinks the defense is showing their cards because of what’s in the affidavit. If they’re putting the victim on trial this early, then they know things are bad.

Even though there’s no blood, but there could be other sorts of forensic evidence (touch DNA).

Lauren thinks there’s no point to keeping the AA sealed at this point, as we know so much already.

I definitely expect this to be the case. All their arguments are moot now.

I was interested in the comments LS made in tonight's interview about BMs workers telling her that BM watched the trailcams at his home all the time.
Makes me wonder if he pulled them all down and then reinstalled when AM had his search.

MOO if there were trail cams I hope there is a footprint of their existenc on his phone.

Perhaps he was removing cameras 11:50am-12:50pm 5/9.

Yes, I’m sure that’s what he meant. Incidentally, he never hit a home run, or much of anything for that matter, in his 15 game minor league career.

He was lucky just to make contact, as he struck out an astounding 32% of the time.

Oh, I think Suzanne was high alright. I think Suzanne was high on life. Love looks like that sparkle on us. There's a twinkle in our eyes, pep in our steps and hope fills us with promise that's within our grasp whether we grab it or not. Hope for the better days that may lay ahead matters.

Barry created a dying of the light in Suzanne that another man ignited. I'm so thankful for Jeff caring enough to give this fine lady attention she deserved.

Curse JL all you want but Suzanne needed the promise of a new day that she sought in another man. She wanted someone she could relate to on an intellectual basis. I can't tell you how sorry I am that there are eight children involved but that's what we have here.

Barry had not right to strip goodness from Suzanne when he killed her while knowing her truths might color our impressions. Trying so much to be gentle here.
I totally agree with you. She needed emotional comfort and some hope for a new life. I don't think either of them seriously believed they would ever run off together. They just needed each other emotionally, mentally and intimately. She didnt have any of that with BM anymore.

Plus recreational is legal in Colorado. No one wants that couch lock crap. IMO

Also, facing cancer and a recurrence and going through the misery and fear involved in therapy may have just given her the desire to have a new life. I know several people who have had successful outcomes from a cancer treatment and have wanted to get rid of all the bad and stressful things in their life.

They want a new beginning. For one couple, it meant selling up and moving away to a new, more quiet life in a small town. For another it was retiring and taking up a long-delayed hobby.

The thrill of being desireable is also a powerful driver when you have faced your worst. It can be addictive and somewhat lifegiving. One friend embarked on an affair and left her husband, but also left the affair partner. She just needed to know she was still capable of being loved and wanted again.
