Hey all, thought I share. They talked a lot about a "Berla Report" in the context of Telematics. Found this source and it is pretty helpful. It was retrieved from the Berla website.

Tree Pod Burial

MOO - Since CM’s Webslueths video interview, there has been speculation on the importance regarding the purchase of a 50lb cornfeed bag that BM supposedly made.

Some have said BM might have dumped the cornfeed in order to use the burlap sack the feed usually is packaged in, to transport SM out of the home.

In one of the SM FB groups I follow, they posted the attached image regarding tree pod burials. This is a thing and it brings into perspective how BM may have hid SM’s body.

Couple this with the report that one of the daughter’s ex-boyfriends was threatened by BM with ‘getting buried under a tree and no one will find him’ words. BM definitely has the means to accomplish this sort of burial.

MOO

Pretty sure the corn (shelled corn) was just used ILLEGALLY to attract deer/elk/lost turkeys on their few acres. And the ensuing mountain lions.

With all due respect....that is not entirely accurate. Insurance companies can and do insure cash up to specific limits in commercial package policies, against the standard risks, including theft, robbery, fire, etc.... Since businesses, particularly retail types carry cash in the course of doing business, there are limits which do apply; those limits can be selected optionally up to a policy maximum allowable limit.
I feel like I am at work lol. Can I interest you in a BOP? Barry is a commercial insurance nightmare. And as far as worker’s comp, I did ask once about how people can be covered under worker’s comp when they were not “employed” at the time of their injury. I was told you can just backdate employee coverage which makes it all hunky dory. So much for telling the truth.

Wow this is a good thought! WHY exactly did the blade need to be changed out or fixed? (I’m still unclear if the entire blade was replaced or exactly what the mechanical thing was.)
Ummm because it was worn or broken lol. Prosecution already said the skid steer played no role.

It’s mentioned in the article I linked above.

“Defense attorneys said Barry Morphew spoke to law enforcement 23 times from the day his wife disappeared until the end of 2020, and said the chipmunks claim did not get brought up until this year. Nielsen argued that the phone data would have meant Barry was moving through walls and at speeds humans are not capable of for the pings to be true.”

Boxer had a good point about the triangular patterns, although I’m not familiar with the technology.

I’d love to see a visual of BM’s phone pings and how it could be perceived that he was running through walls.

I’d imagine the lag time in the data combined with the margin of error for the radius of where the phone is located at the time could explain it.

I could also see BM sneaking up on SM and rushing from corner to corner of the home, while moving alongside the side of the house. Much like how you see the military operate in urban combat.

Didn’t the prosecution use the word “chased”, and talk about how fast the movements were in those minutes?

It’s really stuck out to me as an odd conclusion. It’s why he said he was shooting chipmunks, isn’t it?

“Later during Tuesday’s testimony, defense attorney Dru Nielsen questioned Grusing about phone data which prosecutors showed in court and said made it appear that Barry Morphew was running around their home right after arriving. Nielsen said the affidavit states that there is an opinion that he was “most likely chasing Suzanne around” and had Grusing point out that neighbors heard no unusual noises around that time.”

MOO
Was he supposedly chasing her around inside the home or outside or do we even know?

Initially I thought she would run inside to hide. Now I’m feeling it may have been outside after defense asked Grusing if neighbors heard anything and he replied no.

ETA- Is this why he came up with the chasing and shooting chipmunks because they have his phone data of him running around the yard at that time chasing SM around the yard?

Just getting hit with a tranq dart would leave a huge bruise.

In following these cases, if there's available data, it's always interesting to watch a person of interest as the days go by. If Suzanne's body had been found within, say, 10 days of her death, there would have been forensic evidence of a dart/bruise/tranquilizer. So Barry was sweating bullets in those days ("too soon"). But within a month, his behavior was notably more relaxed (sightings of him out and about in town, discarding Suzanne's possessions, soon he would go to Indiana, get a new truck, complete the guardianship process, he'd sell her truck, etc., etc).

Because he knew that, by that point, the forensic evidence linking him to Suzanne's dart was gone. However, I still want to hear that "biologic" evidence...was something found somewhere that narrowed down the search for Suzanne's body? Because I believe Spezze and the DA's office when they say the search is still very active.

It is fun to revisit all the old speculation and some of the new. In my opinion Barry could be here, there and everywhere or had an affair or didn’t have an affair in Years past, but the prosecution has about 9 hours or so to show the judge that Suzanne is actually deceased. Right now maybe she is and maybe she isn’t and maybe Barry cooled his jets in Broomfield while someone else either killed Suzanne or moved her body. Looking forward to the next half of the preliminary. It is one of the most curious cases in many years.

Isn't the 2nd link you posted an article that speaks of "facts" not public yet? Even the headline is inaccurate, if so. CM has admitted she inserted material she did not hear at the prelim. If you agree, could you not link a different source? If you don't, agree, I'm curious as to why not.
Thanks.

I didn't post the link, but if I had posted it, it would because it's MSM and permitted to post and is related to this case.

I have no clue why anyone would want to hide a piece of news like that, as we can all use our own discretion in whether we incorporate into our respective beliefs about this case. This is just a true crime forum. It's not a news source, it's not a court of law.

I am very happy that @oviedo shares every piece of news that was found fit to print. And I feel that way about all news sources (and I am very very skeptical about Youtube journalism, but if people want to complain about reporting - certain youtubers would be in my complaint portfolio).

CM is a well-respected reporter. Reporters go out and get sources and then write it up. That's what they do. They do not have to reveal their sources, unless court-ordered to do so.

So my reason is that freedom of the press and CM has a long and favorable career as a real journalist.

Or... to spread in the area of a very deep burial, adorned with a tree. All that corn would attract a lot of wildlife, a lot of footprints, a lot of scat....

Maybe somebody thought he learned a little trick to distract/disarm cadaver dogs.

MOO "Chased" not right word for it. Contained more like it.
But I don't think the defense made a point about the Cellubrite and walls.
Obviously BM was there, and between 2:44 and 2:47 he says he was running around after chipmunks.
Those that have used FMIP know the tracking makes triangular patterns when someone is running around.
The whole thing with this Chipmunk chasing scenario is that the defense attorneys are trying to say that BM wasn’t running around, that the Cellebrite data isn’t being read correctly; that the FBI analysts are all wrong and spouting a whole bunch of baloney.
Except………. When LE interviewed BM and asked why he was running around, he said he was chasing/shooting chipmunks. He never said he wasn’t running around.
Now, I don’t know about you, but if it was me and law enforcement came knocking on my door and asked me why I was running around in my yard on a certain date and time and I wasn’t, I would say, “I wasn’t running around in my yard on that date and time, officer.” I wouldn’t make up a story and say I was small game hunting in my backyard. Maybe that’s just me…….

This video by Lauren Scharf is very interesting. It talks about how BM came about getting the 'wall' job, never getting work permits approved to work on Sunday/Holiday which is against the law, not having the block or the major tool they needed, which was the BOBCAT. They dug with shovels and crowbars, mainly held held tools.

It shows the walls and I can say the job sucked, it's terrible work. Barry got the job because he is a lifelong friend of the the subcontractor EA Outdoor Svcs.

I say this without any victim blaming but I wish she would have just picked up and went to her sister's or someone else's house. Ending a relationship is the most dangerous time for a person involved in an abusive situation. Waiting until you're alone together may seem like the adult, mature, civil way to do it (like I am sure SM thought), but it's dangerous. Pick up and leave and then tell them you're not coming back when you have some distance and protection. Obviously it shouldn't be like this but it very often is.
wise words @Alethea - If that is one lesson her death can teach all of us - it's this. Just leave. get yourself and your kids out. If only .....

Have you been following the prelim hearings?

I think the most eye-opening things will be if you think like a hunter and landscaper.

The earlier poster who pointed out that’s exactly what recent spousal murderers did - used their job and hobby knowledge - is so on-point.

My questions still are WHERE is Suzanne and HOW did Barry move her.

And please tell me all about the Range Rover and why we haven’t seen its data.

Maybe he got training from his 400 tours buddy.

I agree that if you put yourself in the shoes of a skilled hunter and a hardscape landscaper, you can start to paint a pretty good picture of how the evidence we know about comes together.

As for the Range Rover. I believe that there were two Range Rovers at the home. A newer RR belonged to SM as her primary vehicle. And they also had an older RR. The older RR is speculated to be old enough to not have onboard telematics or GPS.

I couldn’t agree more. Three witnesses have been called thus far, and their jobs have been to paint the case against Barry in broad strokes. We now have a general outline of what occurred over the days in question, with two days left for more specific testimony.

A lot of people have said “I couldn’t convict him based on what we’ve heard…”

That’s not the point of the preliminary hearing though.

I feel as though giving too much of what they want to say away in the preliminary would likely give the defense time to really go after whatever angle it is. Is it likely they want to be as general as possible now so they don't show too much? I feel these LE witnesses are there to just show the facts they uncovered. Most of it is so straight forward and not really open for interpretation. He said he was at xx location or doing xyz and his phone, truck gps, or video showed he was doing abc instead. He claimed x, but text messages show y. I can't wait to find out the specifics, but that isn't what is needed for these hearings. The defense is doing more it seems to me to convivence the judge these things aren't suspicious or odd. The prosecution isn't there to show how they think it happened exactly, just that there is evidence to show she was alive before Barry arrived home and no further proof of life after he did arrive home. If I recall, the defense has brought up more details beyond what the prosecution brought up in order to make her look bad and it has only made him look worse! LOL

Agree.
All by itself, the fact there that there are so many expedient lies is probable cause in my book.

If the burner was previously placed in another location that might work.
If it was at PP I think CAST would locate the signal.

Also eithin days the police would know the location of the burner signal would search for it and for who bought it.

There are several cases where I live where no record could be found of the burner purchaser. Paid cash, bought at a liquor store, no cameras, no ID asked for. This is California. And it's across two counties. Some of these are large scale drug busts with FBI involved - but burner phone registration/SIM registration remains elusive.

Keep in mind that you can buy a burner phone in Mexico easily, as well - and a SIM card. There are 5-6 services (ultimately served by T-Mobile or ATT) that register your SIM and provide you service (like Lycamobile). I'm not going into any more detail about burner phones are registered to use for illegal activities, but it happens - a lot. You can therefore use the phone (internationally) with almost no trace.

So, I'm not confident at all that all burner phones can be traced. If I had one, I would find a way to register it - not from my home, obviously.
