Interesting that IIRC, JL's daughter and brother knew about the affair...and it follows that they knew about Suzanne's disappearance. There would have been a conversation between JL and either or both of these two about this; and any potential conversation with LE. I wonder how those conversations went, if they happened?
At what point did they know about the affair? Did they know specifically who he was having the affair with, or just that he was having an affair?

JL himself has been cleared by LE so I think who he is doesn’t really play much role. I am not sure how much latitude the judge would give prosecution or defense to explore “the affair”. It could go either way. If Suzanne never shared any fears with him or any abuse then that plays to defense or vice versa or neither side needs his testimony and he is used just to validate the affair by either side.

I’m still mystified Suzanne knowing how crazy Barry was, treated her especially with him being a hunter and all those guns in the house why in the heck would she have this affair or whatever you call it phone relationship with this creep? She had to know if she got caught it would send Barry over the edge and especially if he saw the naked photos, controlling and jealous as he was. It was like some kind of death wish I just don’t get it. It might have helped Suzanne if she had another phone not used her personal. She waited too long to get out. One day while BM was on a big job just pack up a few things and just leave. She knew Barry would care for the girls. That creep JL could have sent her some money to a PO Box or something if he truly cared but I think he was using her for her beauty and kindness. Such a sad outcome. I sure hope there’s more damning evidence if this goes to trial I see lowering charge to 2nd degree with a 300,000 bond.

We were not given the exact date but it seemed to me that JL's daughter learned that her dad was openly texting with "another woman" and this resulted in SM & JL ceasing communication altogether and they did not start up again until Christmas time.

I think this discovery was probably during the platonic period but it was probably apparent with the frequency of texts that this was escalating. We don't know if JL had a history of cheating prior to SM but I'm inclined to think that daughter did not find the texts by accident -- I think she was on his phone for a reason beyond ordering pizza. MOO

Just speaking for myself, if I text someone (friend, relative, coworker, etc) and the text goes unanswered, I text back after an hour or two. So again IMO if I would text someone I was having a relationship with I would be more persistent in texting back after an unanswered text. That is just theoretical because I am not involved in a relationship. Just MOO.
It was Mother's Day, maybe he felt like Suzanne was with her girls and even BM and couldn't talk freely like they normally did.

From the tweets by reporters covering the PH, it seemed that there was a recording of FBI interviewing JL in evidence, and the defense attempted to play the interview during the hearing but had technical difficulties. Other than confirming SM was having an extramarital affair, I agree that JL himself will not play a big role in prosecuting BM. We already saw how the defense wasted an entire day of the preliminary attacking SM's character when JL was introduced, I don't see the defense given another opportunity to repeat this. MOO

Supposedly they saw a text either to or from Suzanne on their Dad’s phone when they were using his phone to order pizza. Not sure where I read this or I would post a link but maybe someone else knows where to find it. And why did they use their Dad’s cell phone to order pizza? Are they the only teenagers in America without their own cell phone?

The only reason I can think of is that if Dad had an app for a pizza place that had his credit card linked. I have several restaurant delivery apps and pizza delivery apps that have my credit card linked, so you can order and pay with just a couple of clicks.

<modsnip>

Regardless of her affair, Suzanne did not realize the extent of the grave danger she was in. We don’t even know for a fact that Barry discovered the affair. He denied it.

Suzanne didn’t have a death wish. She wanted to live. Without Barry. And he wouldn’t have it.

The only person responsible for Suzanne’s death is Barry.

If it goes to trial and he is called as a witness there will be cross examination.

Here you go:

Libler didn’t believe that Barry Morphew knew about him. "If he knew about me, he would have came after me. I just don’t think he knew that Suzanne and I were together."

So if JL knew Barry had a violent temper and he thought Barry would come after HIM if Barry knew about their affair, what did he imagine Barry would do to SUZANNE?

And this brings up another thought:

JL’s text goes unanswered on the 11th. A friend makes him aware of Suzanne’s disappearance the next day. So JL never texts her again.

Is that because he assumed she was dead? If he said he didn’t think Barry had anything to do with her disappearance did he think she was kidnapped? Or the mountain lion theory? Could he have thought maybe she left Barry?

I would like to know what his demeanor was on the 12th. How did he respond to the friend who made him aware of Suzanne’s disappearance? What was he like at home? Did he experience guilt thinking that his texts or messages could have put her in a dangerous situation?

I have so many questions I would like to ask him.

It makes a lot of sense to me why he never texted her again.
They were having an affair.
He was the "dirty little secret".
He likely assumed LE would quickly be involved and he also likely thought how much he did NOT want his name to be associated with Suzanne in any way, since he was also a married man.
A man in that position, would not be attempting to text the missing, married woman.

So, he acknowledges he believed BM was a dangerous person.
That says a lot imo.
Yep and he knew Suzanne wasn’t “missing” but rather she was gone from this Earth by Barry’s own hands. Don’t get me started on JL again…I’m still disgusted by his cowardice & selfishness. MOO and will not change. I understand he was in a horrible position but sorry…he put himself there and sometimes in life you have to sleep in the bed you made yourself! It wouldn’t have been easy but he should have taken responsibility for his actions and done the right thing! It could have made a difference! He might have lost everything - his wife, family, job, reputation etc. but he didn’t lose his LIFE. Ugh I can’t with this guy!

Of course but it's the prosecution that opens the door here in controlling what the defense can follow up -- especially since their client BM claims he did not know about JL.

This is driving me absolutely crazy. I think they were alluding to the 18 missing miles in Ph were when he got rid of her phone at Poncha market and got caught dumpster diving but couldn’t come right out and say it. I don’t know why they introduced it and didn’t just say what they know at ph. Like it’s driving me crazy because I think prosecution totally knows.
So @Trocroc9 you think it was her phone he was dumpster diving for at Poncha Market? Why would he need to get it back? And why risk being seen trying to retrieve it? You have some good theories so curious what your line of thinking is on this. Thx!

that dumpster diving is interesting....did Barry just look in the dumpster...moving crap around with his hand? was he wearing gloves? Did he get inside the dumpster? I am trying to discern the level of desperation or determination that Barry may have demonstrated. Hopefully, the store manager who saw him described exactly what he saw Barry doing at the dumpster.

I don’t believe it was a dumpster. I was under the impression that one of the talking heads misspoke. I believe he reached into the trashcan by the door from the anecdotes from the store manager.

I thought I heard he reached into the trashcan to retrieve a receipt to write the note on...you know "blue helmut....bike, etc..."...but that he was seen at the dumpster doing ___? Maybe some detail types can help with this one.
