Another averted school shooting, in Colorado Springs.
Arrested and charged, is 19 yo William Whitworth who identifies as "Lilly"

"According to the deputy, Whitworth stated they were only about a third of the way from performing the school shooting and had been planning for a month or two. Whitworth told deputies that Timberview Middle School on Scarborough Dr in Colorado Springs was one of the "main targets" and the others were churches."

Possible copycat arrested.

If he planned to shoot up schools and churches, and was reading Marxist and Communist manifestos, talking about the former President, then this could be both a hate crime and domestic terrorism. Is there a thread on WS for this case? Article says that his first hearing is on May 5th. (Note: Court docket gives date of preliminary hearing as May 3 at 2:30 p.m., not same date as reported in this MSM news article).

Edited to change the date of the preliminary hearing to May 3rd. After just checking the court docket which gives May 3 at 2:30 date/time.

William Lilly Whitworth (DA Office of 18th)

William Whitworth, 19, who identifies as "Lilly," was arrested by the Elbert County Sheriff's Office on March 31, on two counts of suspicion of criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree, and other charges, according to an arrest report.

The arrest took place after police went to Whitworth's home following calls from others inside the home that Whitworth was being violent and was making threats to shoot up a school.

Upon arriving at the Whitworth home, investigators found a "manifesto," including references to past school shooters, drawings that appeared to look like school floor plans, instructions on how to build a detonator to a bomb and more material suggesting Whitworth was actively planning a massacre.

No firearms were found in the home, but according to the arrest report, Whitworth was actively planning to obtain them, and officers reportedly found a liquid in the home used for cleaning guns.

Upon speaking to Whitworth, who officers said appeared to be drunk or under the influence of some kind, Whitworth verified they were "a third of the way" from perpetrating a mass shooting. Whitworth verified they were scoping out "Timberview Middle School," where Whitworth said they had attended for a brief time, as well as some churches.

Whitworth also had materials identifying two other schools that were "main targets" for the attempted massacre, including another they had attended for a brief time.

A whiteboard with the floor plan of what appeared to be a school was also found in Whitworth's room, according to police. Whitworth had a copy of the "Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx, as well as personal writings with references to "Bad cops," calling them "useless garbage," and "Donald Trump" who was referred to as a "con-man."

The suspect is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, criminal mischief, threat and interference with staff, teachers or students of educational institutions.

All schools targeted by Whitworth have an armed school resource officer on campus who is a member of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

DailyMail.com has learned that Whitworth’s mother is a registered homeschool teacher in the district.

The officers who went to the suspect’s home said Whitworth was drunk and sitting on her bed, which had brown stained sheets.

When asked if she planned to shoot up a school, she responded with a head nod, it is claimed. When asked why she wanted to do it, Whitworth allegedly replied: 'Why does anyone do it?'

'Once entering the home there was trash piled up all around the house to where it made it hard to walk inside. There were numerous containers filled with half eaten food with mold growing inside and numerous alcoholic beverage containers laying around the house,' one section of the arrest affidavit reads.

Whitworth said that there was 'no specific reason' that she wanted to shoot up Timberview Middle School, a school where she was once a student, according to cops. She is said to have referred to Timberview as her 'main target.'

Possible copycat arrested.
Just another deeply disturbed individual, and family alerted police. Hats off to them.

Not a copycat because planning began long before Nashville shooting took place:

The suspect said that she had been planning her attack for the past two months, it is claimed. Among her alleged materials that police recovered were details on how to create and detonate bomb, as well as a list of guns and how to 3D print them.

Another article on Whitworth:

Manifesto details former student’s plans to carry out multiple Colorado Springs school shootings

" According to the affidavit, investigators found the manifesto, a dry-erase board with floor plans, and a list of names in a notebook.".......

In two different notebooks, deputies found more floor plans, a drawing of a clock to use a detonation device stating, "Remove clock intemials and drive a screw into the desired detonation time on the face of the clock, and "Is this what they meant when they said making a mockery of the massacre?"

Whitmore stated she watched a video on YouTube on "how to do it" regarding the picture of a detonator.

Deputies obtained a search warrant of the home and found "The Communist Manifesto" by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels and more books with notes. Written inside one book had written inside, "Ways I want to die," with a list stating murder, burning alive, freezing, and drowning."

"Another book had the following statements found inside, according to the arrest affidavit:

In short, a brief of the manifestos contents detailed:

  • A list of firearms and how to 3D print them
  • Detailed lists of numerous named individuals to be killed and their indented casualty versus injury rate.
  • Information detailing the creation of improvised explosive devices
  • The Finalization of locations being Timberview Middle School, Prairie Hills Elementary, and Pine Creek High School "

This person sounds like they're from a trainwreck of a family. One wonders if the mother homeschooled because she didn't want authorities finding out how they really lived.

I'm glad they were caught ahead of time.
I was able to find info on Whitworth, sounds like a possible hoarding/neglect situation at home and Whitworth was actively suicidal without receiving any help. We are so lucky a sister called the police!

[their family] they were reclusive. [neighbors] rarely saw a mother and children outside. A sheriff's deputy indicates, upon reaching the home, they found it filled with trash, boxes and empty alcohol containers. Elbert County deputies had to go around to another door to reach the bedroom where they found the suspect sleeping on filthy sheets.

The documents state that Whitworth was suicidal, and had been so in the past, and thought about it often. When asked if they received any help in the past Whitworth said no. :(

The Communist Manifesto is an interesting addition, here.

I'd be interested in a social media history for this person. Lots of radicalization available online.

I don't think Marx, Lenin and Trotsky ever urged revolutionaries to attack schools. Some confused thinking going on in the head of this youngster.
Gramsci, Brecht, etc might be ok with it, however. It's a long march through the institutions, after all. I think we've moved on to cultural Marxism, don't you?

That said ..I agree. Something is clearly wrong in this person's mind.

The mother of a Colorado teenager who told police she had been planning to carry out a local school shooting said it was “a family decision” to notify cops after learning of the chilling plans.
Melissa Whitworth-Mathes told The Post her family made the collective decision

“We are also victims in the cases against Lily, and are struggling to come to terms with what has happened and what we had to do to protect the public,” Whitworth-Mathes wrote in a message Friday.
Whitworth was ordered held on $75,000 bond as she awaits a May 5 court appearance.

The bond for a teen accused of planning a school shooting has increased to $750,000.

A spokesperson with the 18th Judicial District tells 11 News the bond was increased after William “Lilly” Whitworth allegedly told a staff member in the Elbert County Jail that Whitworth would still try to carry out the original plans of a mass shooting if able to bond out.

Officials say when they found out about the comment Tuesday, the District Attorney’s Office filed a motion to increase bond and asked for additional protections in the mandatory protection order.

Thursday, a hearing was held and a judge modified the cash or surety bond amount to $750,000 from $75,000. Officials say the mandatory protection order conditions were also modified to include GPS monitoring and no contact with any public or private school property/institution in the state of Colorado.

Right. Tbh I think the Communist Manifesto being among this person's belongings is the least horrible thing about the whole story. I'm assuming a lot of people who see that as evidence of something have never read it. It advocates for class revolution, yes. But it's certainly not advocating for personal violence against schoolchildren.

This is a clear case of childhood neglect and untreated mental illness coming to its inevitable nadir.
