CO - Yun Mi Hoy, 47, brutally murdered, Aurora, 29 Aug 2013 *Insanity*

But Guzman's aunt, Melanie Guzman, said she saw a typical teenager when she visited the family a few months ago. Guzman could get angry, but violence seemed outside her character. Her mother spoiled her, she said.

She said she feels aspects of the police investigation remain undone and "there's something more to it."

"Her demeanor is pretty sweet. She's very coquette. I can see her yelling, screaming and storming off and locking herself in her room and turning on her iPod," Guzman said. "But not being violent like that."

M'kay....

Oh come on peeps, Nurmi will defend her, and say it was self defense!

Watching NG now. She totally reminds me of myself/friends as a teen. That snarky attitude. However, none if us killed our moms.

Isn't it "rare" for a girl to kill her mother?

The closest I can think of is Erin Caffey. However, she had accomplices, Charles Wilkinson and Bobbi Gale Johnson. This is the first where a female with no accomplices killed her own mother I have heard of. I know there have been woman who have killed someone else's child.

Wonder if Cindy Anthony is following this one. This psychopath seems all too familiar.........

There were 17 cases of daughters killing their mothers in 2010.

Reminds me of the Noura Jackson case...she stabbed her mom 51 times. I don't remember if that was covered by Dateline or 48 Hours, one of the two, but they did say matricide committed by a female minor is extremely rare. I remember a few other cases like this, but a lot of times they tend to enlist the help of a boyfriend.

Noura Jackson

Reminds me of Esmie Tseng, another East Asian teenage girl who stabbed her mother to death. http://murderpedia.org/female.T/t/tseng-esmie.htm

This is pure speculation, but perhaps culture clash played a part in the crime. I read somewhere that the mother was Korean. Coming from a Chinese family, I know very well how strict and unreasonable Asian parents can be. However, there are no excuses whatsoever for this horrific killing.

It is still rare for any child to kill their parent when compared to the population. However; when a girl kills a parent it is more likely to be the mother. They tend to talk male friends into helping them but they are the mastermind and even help with the murders. But more and more I see cases where they are doing it by themselves.

Here is a story of one girl who murdered her mother. Her reason for murdering her? She was mad at her mother. What a stupid reason to kill someone's mother or father but many times that is the case. It can be because the parent is trying to discipline them because of bad behavior or as simple as they didn't want to do chores or were denied something they wanted or the parent didn't want them dating a certain person. etc.

This article also has some statistics. It seems to be escalating as more and more children become so self centered and narcissistic imo.

In November 2011, the Department of Justice released its annual homicide statistics, which revealed that while homicide across the country has fallen in almost every other category since 1980, the number of parents killed by their children is growing as a percentage of family homicides. In 2008, FBI data show that at least 117 mothers were killed by their children, and according to statistician Erica Smith at the Bureau of Justice Statistics, that number could be as high as 260, which would make it the highest number of matricides since 1991.

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_...l-their-mothers-a-different-crime-of-passion/

That would be approximately 5 parents a week that lose their lives due to being murdered by their child.

I suspect this mom and this woman had been arguing and the daughter was rebelling and did not want to do as the mom was asking her to do..........so she killed her.

IMO

I have been reading here today. What a horrific story. This girl looks like she is going to be very uncooperative. It's going to be interesting to say the least.

This girl is not a minor though is she? Isn't she 18?

I thought the same thing. I'm not Asian, but I've read enough about the culture to know that they have fairly strict values. That could very well have led to a lot of disagreement between the two of them.

The level of anger and the viciousness of the crime though, makes me think that she also has an underlying psychological disorder. APD maybe?

The dad said his daughter was loving to him all these years. She and her mother started having difficulties when she was seven. That is just so young. Then it sounds like the difficulties got worse between both of them and she went to live with her dad. Why, I wonder did she go back to live with mom?
I can't help but think, that after the police were called, then left the house, Guzman, while in her room, was plotting the murder of her mom. It just seemed she did it effortlessly. The lack of remorse and her attitude in court is just off the charts bizarre.

It looks like this "girl" was either burned or has a skin condition. It's not in all of the photos, but in the one of her holding the mic you can see something on her right arm. Then in some of those first headshots in her pics it's really visable on her shoulders and chest. Maybe they're welts?

She states she loves her mom and grandmom as well in that like section.

What the heck could have happened to make this daughter do such a horrific thing?

On Dr. Drew, the aunt kept saying there was a conflict between mother/daughter over "boyfriends and religion."

Aunt= bio fathers sister.

i found the aunt's segment on dr. drew to be entirely disturbing.

she was difficult, questioning the panel for their full names and reasons for being on the show, she interrupted, was obviously high or drunk, and all but came out and accused the step father of being abusive, with no supporting information of course.

to me, the aunt sounded like she herself may well be paranoid and ''off.'' her brother is the bio dad. in the clips i've seen of the bio dad he comes across as disconnected.

this is going to be a mess. it already looks like the bio dad's family is making excuses for this individual, blaming everyone but her. but let's face it, if the girl was being mistreated (which i do not believe), both the aunt and the bio dad should have done something about it.

her mother owned a jewelry store and the name of it was ''bella.'' kills me.

moo imo

i've looked at all the photos and aside from what appear to be scrapes or maybe rosacea on an arm, i can't see anything. can you give me a hint as to which headshot shows it on her shoulders and chest?

i turned 43 recently. seems like my eyesight, among other things, are on a rapid decline!!

Got my Dollar Store glasses on.:seeya:

On FB if you go to her photos there's a few where her shoulders are bare. She obviously has heavy make-up on her face which doesn't match her complexion. So the photo of the halter tops especially. I think it's the third photo or so in she definately has something on her shoulder. It could be a birth mark. However in that pic with the mic and it just may be my imagination, but from her elbos down a bit seems to be a dark mark as well.

I may be totally wrong. It just made me think possibly self harm? That or someone grabbing her by the shoulders or grabbing her arm.

I'll go back to FB and post the one I mean. Sorry to confuse everyone.

Just throwing this out there. The murderer says her hometown was in Connecticut. The deceased has a FB which says Aurora Colorado is her hometown and present place she lives.

Look up bio dad and he's lived in places like Oklahoma, Connecticut, and Texas and a few others. Of course that doesn't mean anything, but made me wonder how he wound up in Colorado.

The deceased comes up as living in Oklahoma at one time.
