Coaster kills boy at 6 Flags Over Georgia

No matter what kind of decapitation it was awful to watch. I fear it's the old fashioned kind here. We will most probably never know the full medical details.

I wonder if the 14 year old girl that is in the hospital with a leg injury because of this will have any lasting injuries?

I hope you don't think I was attacking you for your thoughts.:blowkiss: I am just REALLY upset that this happened. I want young people to WAKE THE FREAK UP! I have two young adults...23 and 25. I see A LOT of this kind of attitude...the rules don't apply to me...I am superman...type of mentality from them and their friends. It SCARES me and it makes me worry, along with ANGRY!!! Sorry if I seemed to have jumped on you. HUGS dear friend!!:blowkiss:

Hey lady But think back when we were that age. WE to thought we were Superman.I know I took my share if chances, But would never climb a fence to get a hat back.

I know...I used to swim at the sand pits. SO dangerous. My mother told me NOT to do it. I did anyway. :bang:

JDB, the reports say he and a friend were re-entering the park over those fences as a shortcut. Just FYI.

Tm I know I just read that. WHich makes it even more stupid for them.
DW I used to take my 10 speed up the highest hill in the city and ride it down. Hoping the Red light at the bottom was green as we were doing 50 with no helmets.

Hey barbed wire or electric fence would most probably work here. A slight shock may have saved that boys life.

Then on the other hand, they probably would have found away around the barbed wire. Because if their mind is set on something they will do anything they can to accomplish it.

No matter what six flags does to protect the public, people will ALWAYS find ways around it! Seen it happen before!

You may be right on that one, but adding a bit of an electric shock may have worked.

I am just waiting for the lawsuit.

I will lose all respect for this family if they pull that crap.

Oh...NO KIDDING. See *rant written by deanws about personal responsibility...Post 60 & 69* Let's hope they DON'T file a lawsuit. I DO think that SF should pay for the medical bills of the 14 year old victim of this accident that is currently in the hospital.

No, the 14 year old victim who hurt her leg was from an earlier accident in 2002. I'm personally kind of dumbstruck by this boy's actions, but God knows I did some *stupid* stuff as a teenager. (Maybe not THAT stupid, but I digress...) Needless to say, it's not really the park's responsibility and I hope his parents don't sue.

On the other hand, I really do feel sorry for the girl who was hurt at Kentucky Kingdom last year and that WAS the park's fault. After reading some articles about her, I almost cried--what an awful thing for a young person to go through. The SF officials said that she would be taken care of for the rest of her life, and I certainly hope that's true.

Oh, thank you for correcting my mistake. I guess I read the article wrong. Yes, I remember the girl's feet getting cut off. :(

I think you're reading about a 14yo from an accident in 2002 ---
snip from article link above
..... A 58-year-old park worker, Samuel Milton Guyton of Atlanta, was killed May 26, 2002. Guyton was in a restricted area on a platform when he was kicked in the head by 14-year-old girl on the front car of the ride. The girl was hospitalized with a leg injury.......

But, for the record, I believe that, yes, they would have paid for her medical costs. That is what their liabliity insurance should be used for.

Slightly OT, but I know someone who worked on this case. She said the saddest part was that it was just a series of mistakes that were each fairly minor and easy to understand how it could happen, but put all together ended up with such tragic consequences. Something about a European version of a part being sent instead of an American version but having the same name, so the installers and inspectors would never know the difference, and the measurements being just slightly off. Not sure that is exactly right, but along those lines. SOOOO sad. Six Flags is paying big time on that one, but the issue being argued is about liability being divided among them and the manufacturer, supplier, etc.
