It has to be very tough for them but at least the alledged criminal remains in jail, a small comfort there at least. Hopefully the little ones are doing well.

Given Kurtz & Blooms track record before BC was arrested, I have to say I am a tad surprised they haven't made a ton of motions already. Very surprised they have not attempted to even revisit the issue of bond - the judge gave them the opportunity to do so during the last appearance. Guess no one wants to risk putting up the money to get him out of jail. Perhaps soon.
Bella just turned 5. The girls are very happy and well adjusted in Canada according to a friend who recently went to visit them in Canada.

Thank you very much for that piece of very good news. I am glad to know they are okay and things are going well for them.

"Maybe Detective Daniels gets on the stand this time instead of just providing an affidavit. BC can't whine about it - he has the 40 CDs of the investigation files to compare notes with. I don't see anything BC can put up to defend himself in this instance. He has never taken the stand before, he sure as heck isn't going to this time.

I'm still curious as to who will represent BC at such a hearing. Maybe Star can clarify if the State of NC provides lawyers free of charge for civil cases as they do in criminal cases. Seems to me the State should not be obligated to provide representation for BC in this action regardless of his indigent status"

It's been a long time since I was there - and at that time I had excellent representation by, IMHO, the best Family Law attorney in the State of North Carolina. Too bad BC bounced that check to him. But I'm thankful for the attorney that he did!

However, I do remember one hearing - the last one thankfully, which was held over, that I did have a court appointed attorney. He did a smashing job for me. (He even taught me that court documents could be emailed.) He was just lurking around the courtroom when the judge asked him if he wanted to take on my hearing. Oh, and I prevailed. Last time I ever saw or heard from the ex.:clap::clap:

So, in answer to your question, yes, I think so. At least back then. What BC's options are for "gettin' him one", I dunno. I doubt an ad in Lawyers' Weekly would work out for him.

Don'tcha think his present attorney or two would handle it for him?

Dunno Star - the attorney's he has are being paid by the taxpayers to ensure he has a fair criminal trial. Seems to me, there should be some seperation there, dunno why I think that but who knows.

I have that same feeling, but if a court-appointed attorney would be assigned to handle the civil/custody matter, would it not make financial sense to have the one already court-appointed handle it? A court-appointed attorney is still paid, just not by the defendant.
