Colorado - Coronavirus COVID-19

  • #281
According to Worldometer Colorado saw 267 deaths yesterday which is by far the most we've had in a day. I noticed the two days before that the death count was very low and wonder if the large number of reported deaths yesterday was due to them not being counted a few days before.

Colorado finalizes '5 Star' program, giving restaurants chance at less COVID-19 restrictions

DENVER — Colorado health officials on Wednesday finalized a program that would allow restaurants to operate with less COVID-19 restrictions, if they meet health and safety requirements and are certified by their local public health agency.

The so-called 5 Star program would give restaurants and other businesses the opportunity to operate under less-restrictive conditions, depending on their county's level on the state's COVID-19 dial.

Colorado Appears To Have, So Far, Dodged A Post-Thanksgiving Coronavirus Surge

“The worry was many people would travel and gather in-person for Thanksgiving. It was something public health officials, like Fauci, warned could spread COVID-19. But people in this state at least seemed to have listened, and flattened the curve, France said.

“We attribute that flat to the hard work of all Coloradans,” France said.

His comments echoed the governor as well who attributed the state’s dodging of spike to its citizens..

“Thankfully Coloradans did very well, and were thoughtful, collectively, about Thanksgiving,” Gov. Jared Polis said on Dec. 15. “It doesn't mean you don't know somebody who did the wrong thing for Thanksgiving. We all do. But by and large, the numbers bear out that Coloradans made good science-informed decisions to keep their families safe.”“

I should point out that Thanksgiving is not as big of holiday here as you might think. Most ski areas open in early November and people will come out for that but by Thanksgiving weekend people are waiting until we have some good powder days. We didn't surge like we thought because people aren't going to travel out here and ski on bad snow. When the powder days arrive then look out.

COVID-19 IN COLORADO: COVID-19 variant from U.K. discovered in Colorado

[DENVER (KDVR) — A variant of COVID-19 first discovered in the United Kingdom has now been discovered in Colorado.

The Colorado State Laboratory said the person is a man in his 20s who is currently in isolation in Elbert County and has no travel history.
...

“The fact that Colorado has detected this virant first in the nation is a testament to the sophistication of Colorado’s response and the talent of CDPHE’s scientist and lab operations,” said Jill Hunsaker Ryan, executive director, Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.]

If you see the above video, you’ll see this doesn’t seem to be affecting their sales.
They should offer rapid COVID testing in the drive thru.

Afraid we’ll be here for many months still talking about reckless behavior and prolonging the misery, ugh!!

This week has been the busiest I have seen in Eagle County since last Christmas-New Years week. Most everyone has been good about wearing a mask but still large crowds here.

I’m sorry if this offends anyone but I think Polis is an absolute idiot. Acknowledging the risk of a post-Christmas spike mere moments before arbitrarily reducing restrictions statewide. Hey buddy! How about waiting a week to see we experience a spike? This just days after he appeared on national news to announce CO had identified the first case of the new, more contagious UK strain making a spike all the more likely.

They say intelligence is being able to connect unrelated bits of info. This guy doesn’t seem capable of seeing the relationship between related bits of info. Nor does he have the spine IMO to reverse his position if we do see a spike.

In the past two days we’ve seen a rise in cases. Heaven help us, because our Governor sure isn’t.

MOO
